For Crohn's Disease "I was on this for about 3 months and I felt awful almost every time after an infusion I ended up in the hospital. I decided it wasn't for me even though my Dr tried to force it on me. I now have rheumatoid arthritis and a constant cough. I don't advise this drug."

For Crohn's Disease "I have Crohn's. Had symptoms when I was 2 years old, but was misdiagnosed for 5 years. I was officially diagnosed at age 7. I tried a lot of medicines as a child, but when I got a blockage located where the small and large intestines meet, it was time for Remicade or surgery. At that time, Remicade was new. My parents made the best choice and chose Remicade. I was 12 when I started and been on it for 11 years. Yes, it's longer than I should be on it, but I was finally given a life. My intestines look like I've never had Crohn's. There were side effects and over the years they increased. Now my body has gotten used to the Remicade, at age 23, and has spread to 3 of the 4 saliva glands in my mouth, blisters in mouth/throat, and facial swelling. Other than these beauty flaws, my gut looks great! Long story short, my antibodies are fighting the Remicade and I must face my fear and try something new."

For Rheumatoid Arthritis "I started remicade in 2010 and stopped remicade in 2016, almost seven years it worked absolute wonders for me. Amazing for my Juvenile idiopathic arthritis (JIA), my arthritis started when I was a baby and I am now 25 year old female. Within the first year I developed psoriasis, who cares right? I can walk, I can actually bend my knees, zero pain. I started doing UVB light therapy and my psoriasis has not been back. 2016 I developed what I first thought was heat rash. Turned out after months and months of pain, swelling, terrible rash all over my legs that I had developed hypersensitivity leukocytoclastic vasculitis. A listed rare, severe side effect which immediately had my doctor taking me off of remicade. Giving remicade a 5 because it worked for me but couldn't continue."

For Ankylosing Spondylitis "I have been on Remicade since April after not getting any relief from Inbrel or Humira. The initial relief was wonderful, but the results since then have been very unreliable. I find that the week before my infusion is due, I am in terrible pain all over again. I also have a hard time with the methotrexate, it makes my stomach very upset and wipes me out the day I have to take it."

For Crohn's Disease, Maintenance "I am 23 years old and have had Crohn's since I was 19. I started Remicade about 6 months ago, and it's the only treatment that's worked so far. It is a bit time consuming, but it's better than taking 10 pills a day (or more) and more effective. I would recommend trying this after everything else fails. It feels good to be normal again."

For Psoriatic Arthritis "Remicade just isn't working for me or not yet. When I did my 1 and 2 infusions I could tell a difference. I had my 3 on and have to wait 8 weeks. After 3 weeks I had a flare up and I am in week 6 and I still feel awful. Maybe I need them more frequently or a higher dose. I am feeling so darn frustrated. I was hoping for a miracle drug to make me feel better and so far it's not. I read how it helps everyone but I want that for me too! Can't wait to see my dr so we can get ask up and the pain"

For Ulcerative Colitis "Have had uc and chrons for about a year now and started off with a serious flare that had me bed ridden. I was finally talked into trying remicade and a couple days after the initial dose I felt great with no pains. A week after the dose I developed c diff and was right back to square one. So I got the c diff taken care of and did a second dose and the c diff came right back. So I got that taken care of again and did 3rd dose and guess what c diff again. I told my GI I wasn't going to waste my time or money on it anymore. I went to the Mayo in Minn for a second opinion on my condition and after days of testing they said that I had already developed antibodies to the remicade. I'm not sure the remicade caused the c diff but now to humira."

For Ulcerative Colitis "I was diagnosed with pan UC 2 years ago. My doctor gave me different medication that didn't work for me and made me worse. I lost 20 pounds in two weeks and didn't eat or drink anything because I would go to the bathroom ten times a day. My doctor finally recommended remicade, symptoms went down and a year later I've started flaring up again. They increased dosage and I get it every month now. But while I'm writing this my flare ups started again and it's been two weeks of bleeding and my doctor is on vacation. I don't know to do next, I don't want to have surgery."

For Ulcerative Colitis "I've been on remicade for four months, not very long I guess. After being in the hospital for a couple days I noticed almost immediate improvement after my first dose, and over the course of the next 4 months had good and bad days, mostly good until this past week. They increased my dosage to every 4 weeks. But even this whole last week. I've been in a major flare, I get my next dose tomorrow and I'm hoping it works and everything will get back on track until the next dose. I never understand whats going on. All I eat is chicken and carrots or squash everyday. I just want it to work regularly and I want a normal life again :("

For Ulcerative Colitis "UC at 65 years old. Four years of bleeding, pain and sleeping on the bathroom floor. Tried the usual, including another biologic. Six months of Remicade had no effect. A specialist suggested I try a high dose of Remicade before opting for surgery. I was well after a few weeks and have been symptom free for two years."

For Ulcerative Colitis "I was diagnosed with UC in my late 20s and never had to take anything heavy like Remicade. In my late 40s now and for the past 3 months, I've been upgraded to severe UC. Was put on Remicade and just finished my 2nd round. So far, I have not seen major results. Very discouraged! I want to change my diet and I'm trying but I also have 3 kids and its hard to change everything completely and have them eat what I eat. Does anyone know if this medication works? How long should I give it?"

For Crohn's Disease "Got this med two times, first time I used it I got just a little cough, but couple of days later I couldn't walk at all, and the pain was really bad. Went to hospital, nothing found. The pain eased, so tried another time and my airways closed up. After a couple of years after this my hips still hurts , can't get up from bed or chair every time by myself. This shouldn't be used."

For Ankylosing Spondylitis "I have Ankylosing Spondylitis. I was given Remicade IV infusion 3 times. It helped a little with the stiffness in my SI joints and lower back. After each infusion I felt like I had the flu for about 4 days. After the 3rd infusion the bottoms of my feet became red with a rash and were burning, painful and itching. Now 3 weeks later both of the bottoms of my feet are numb. No one can tell me anything except perhaps its a side effect of getting "chemotherapy". I will not take it again!"

For Ulcerative Colitis "Came down with severe UC in November 2021. 67yrs old. Took mesalamine with no results after 30 days. Started Azathioprine in March of 2022. No relief. Took prednisone for 6 weeks. Seemed to knock it down some. Started taking Remicade infusions in April 2022. Had my 4th and last infusion in July 2022. By mid August I was hospitalized for 3 weeks with bacterial pneumonia, Histoplasmosis, and sepsis. A very near death experience. Brought on by immunosuppressive drugs. I fired the doctor that prescribed all the immune suppressing drugs. My new GI doctor won’t prescribe Remicade for me (even though he called it the gold standard for UC treatment. I would suggest NEVER, NEVER, NEVER take remicade I’m currently in remission. Taking both Messalamine Canasa and Messalamine Lialda daily for life I’m told. So far so good."

For Crohn's Disease "I was on Remicade for five years and the Crohn's Disease went into remission BUT it did a number on my immune system. I got staph infection and eventually a septic hip. Had to have hip surgery which consisted of a spacer for 6 months as well as medication through a pic line. In hospital for three and a 1/2 months and nearly another 3 months at home before I was in condition to have a hip replacement. I also have kidney disease which is partly due to medications I took while fighting Crohn's disease. Just waiting to die and get these diseases over with. Really consider the side effects of Remicade - septic hip was not mentioned."

For Uveitis "I am a 28-year-old African-American female. Four years ago I was diagnosed with an autoimmune disease called, sarcoidosis. Upon being diagnosed with that auto immune disease I was also diagnosed with chronic uveitis and both of my eyes. I was placed on several amuse suppression medications as well as a oral steroid called prednisone. The prednisones left me with unbearable side effects. About a month ago. My rheumatologist started me on Remicade and has also up the dosage of my methotrexate. Since my condition is so aggressive I have to use the maximum dosage of the medication to see progress. I have only received two infusions of Remicade and I can literally see a difference. I was Lucky to receive the Remicade for free through a foundation."

For Crohn's Disease, Maintenance "I have had Crohns for the past 17 years. Diagnosed at 21. They put me on remicade and pentasa right away. Worked so well at the time they thought they misdiagnosed me and they took me off everything. I was good for maybe 3-4 months and it came roaring back. 2 years battling with prednisone, imuran etc I finally got back on Remicade in 2008 and have been on for going on 14 years. Since the 2nd or 3rd infusion back in 2008 I've had Zero symptoms. No signs of Crohns at all. The only side effect is about 8-9 years ago I got scalp psoriasis and have battled it since. I see a specialist outside Boston who noted that although Remicade is also used to treat psoriasis it can cause about 5 percent of people taking it for other reasons to develop psoriasis. The immune system is a very complex thing for sure. I get remicade every 8 weeks. Doesn't make me tired or sore. Knock on wood. So if your reading this and have lost all hope, there is hope"

For Uveitis "My son will be 17 next week. He was diagnosed with ideopathic bilateral pan uveitis 6 years ago. He had double cataract surgery at age 14. He was treated with 6-7 different immunosuppresant medicines, nothing worked. Last August, he was placed on Remicade, once a month. His inflammation has been almost quiet for nine months. His vision is stable. He is back to school and for the first time in five years, he is able to enjoy being a normal teenager. "

For Rheumatoid Arthritis "Initially, it worked great. When the doses were administered close together, I rarely had a flare, and when I did they were very mild. As the time between infusions was increased, I began to have more frequent and severe flares. My Rheumatologist and I are currently working to adjust the dosing schedule."

For Crohn's Disease "After a year or more on totally ineffective Humira I was put on Remicade. It has been effective for the most part. I am on the max dosage at every 4 weeks. At about 4 to 5 days before my infusion I develop my typical crohns symtoms which mostly involves pain. I had one blood test which indicated I was metabolizing the medication more quickly than normal. I if this problem persists I will be tested again to see if I have developed antibodies to the drug. Besides Humira being a total bust I react with high fever and chills to 6 MP. Prior to the Humira I had a resection of a foot of my illeum. I don't have any side effects to the Remicade just the issue I mentioned."

For Uveitis "My 15 year old daughter was diagnosed in January 08 with Uveitis. We did drops for 5 months with not result. Starting in May of 2008 we began an infusion treatment of Remicade and today, her flare is controlled. Life has returned to "almost" normal. We started at every 4 weeks and have progressed to every 6 weeks. We hope to make it to 8 and still control the flare. I am calling it a miracle drug. The issue is health care. We have insurance due to the grace of God. Each treatment comes at a price tag of $12K."

For Ulcerative Colitis "I was given Remicade while in the hospital. They premedicated me with Tylenol and Benadryl. After the Benadryl wore off, I broke out with severe hives from head to toe. I took Benadryl and then Zyrtec for ten days and neither helped the hives much. Thankfully, they finally went away. Horrible experience. I looked like I had a plague."
