Synvisc-One (hylan g-f 20) "This is day 2 after my first Synvisc One shot. The shot wasn't bad, only uncomfortable during the last 3 seconds. I walked out and had a little tightness as the gel was settling in. Day 2 I'm walking around with absolutely no issues and with a 90% reduction in pain. Day 2 far exceeded all my expectations. I am completely pleased and satisfied with Synvisc One. I hope it lasts more than 6 months."

Synvisc-One (hylan g-f 20) "This was, without a doubt, one of the most painful experiences I have encountered in my 65 years. I had it last January. The shot itself was not bad, but immediately after the shot, the pain around the knee was excruciating. I pretty much lived with pain twice as bad as before I had the shot for the next eight or ten weeks. Staying off of it, icing it, and painkillers were the only help. Eventually, the pain slowed down, but I would recommend that people look carefully and study the possible side effects before doing it. I had a partial knee replacement in July (six months ago) and the results are spectacular. I am walking, doing water aerobics, and extremely active without any pain."

Synvisc-One (hylan g-f 20) "I have taken the Synvisc-One shot in both of my knees. It really does work, and I am pain-free for actually six months. The reason I will not take it now is because the last time I was given these shots, it hurt just too bad. Now I am trying to find something else without all the more pain when taken."

Synvisc-One (hylan g-f 20) "I stopped running marathons, something I really enjoyed. My arthritis has put a stop to any running. Now, I walk 5-6 miles every other day with a pair of weights around my ankles. My arthritis kept me up at night until I started my Synvisc-One injections. I get one in each knee every 6 months; they really make a difference."

Synvisc-One (hylan g-f 20) "I had Synvisc-One injection in January 2010. I'm due for another this month (every six months). I'm an avid 56-year-old tennis player, and my knee has developed severe arthritis through injury (tear and scope) and years of pounding on the court. I haven't been able to play the Singles that I love for three years, as a consequence - and have had to settle for Doubles. No more - this is a miracle drug for me personally. I'm playing singles again and being very active in other ways with no debilitating swelling and pain. It is all good for now. I'll keep taking the shot, and I am so grateful for this drug."

Synvisc-One (hylan g-f 20) "I have had intermittent knee pain since I was a teenager. I am now 44, and a few years ago, the knee pain began preventing me from running. I had my first Synvisc-One injection about a year ago. After reading about the studies online, which show mixed results, I was not expecting this to work, but I thought it was worth a try. The procedure itself was only mildly uncomfortable. For about a week, after my knee felt more irritated than usual...not terrible though. About a week later...no pain, lasted 4 months. Then the pain returned. My doc had me wait 6 months, and I had a 2nd injection. This one irritated my knee for a few weeks, and I was afraid it had made it worse, but after 3 weeks...pain free. Again, lasted 4 months."

Synvisc (hylan g-f 20) "Received three injections of Synvisc in January 2015. After the 1st shot, I experienced relief from severe pain I had been experiencing. After the 2nd shot, the stiffness I had been experiencing began to subside. After the third shot, my knees stopped hurting, and it has been uphill for almost 6 months. I experience an occasional catching of the right knee, but no significant pain."

Synvisc-One (hylan g-f 20) "I had a Synvisc One injection in both knees about a week ago. Initially, I was told to expect pain and swelling for the first 48 hrs. So, I took it easy and stayed off my feet. As the week went on, the pain and swelling progressed. Exactly 7 days later, I ended up in the ER with excruciating pain, swelling, and stiffness. The doctors removed 110 cc's of fluid from my left knee alone. I was later released and told to follow up with my physician. To date, I am still in continuous pain and have difficulty walking. I wish I had never done this."

Synvisc-One (hylan g-f 20) "I had Synvisc-One injections about three weeks ago in both knees. A few years ago, I also had the injections over 3 weeks with no serious pain or aftereffects but lots of relief for 18 months at least. This time, with just one injection, my experience was horrendously painful during and after for 24 hours. I had to be taken to my car in a wheelchair after the injections due to pain and swelling. Ice did help. I wish he would have numbed the area first, I think that would have helped. For 2-3 weeks after the Synvisc-One injections, I had pretty significant ankle and foot swelling that I'm sure were from the injections. I am beginning to feel improvement now again. I think I might opt for the 3 injections next time, less pain."

Synvisc-One (hylan g-f 20) "I am a 34 y/o female. I first tore my ACL in 1997, and since then I have had 5 complete reconstructions. I have severe arthritis in that knee now, and it was scoped by my doctor two years ago to prepare me for my Synvisc One injections. I am very active: running 6-10 miles, teaching at the gym, and teaching dance. I have been told I need a total knee replacement, but no one will do it on someone so young. The injections have given me so much pain relief that I am hoping to run my first half marathon this fall (was going for one this weekend, but bone spurs got the best of me). I usually cry during the injection, and I did pass out once. If the doctor injects higher on the outside of your knee, I've found my recovery time to be much less. Worth it!"

Synvisc-One (hylan g-f 20) "I had the original Synvisc 3 in my left knee with no measurable improvement and ultimately had a complete knee replacement. My right knee is a complete success story. I have had four Synvisc One injections, and I am scheduled for another next month. The pain relief was incredible, yes, the shot itself is uncomfortable, but not excruciating. I have had anywhere from five to six months of relief each time. I would recommend this procedure to anyone."

Synvisc-One (hylan g-f 20) "After using Synvisc for years, I tried Synvisc-One this week. The process of Synvisc was somewhat painful, and I walked away with minimal pain. Synvisc-One was excruciating. For the first time, the injections (one in each knee) were incredibly painful. I sat for 20 minutes in the exam room working up the nerve to walk to the waiting room. Then I took 30 minutes to work up the nerve to walk the 35 yards to the car. After 3 days, I am starting to walk again without severe pain. This was the first time I had it, and in 6 or 8 months I'll do it again. Just know it is a bigger syringe, a bigger dose, and a much bigger needle. In the end, I believe it to be a good cushion for my knees, and will be longer lasting."

Synvisc (hylan g-f 20) "My wife recently took her second injection of Synvisc One, about 6 months after the first. The first seemed to help reduce the knee pain a bit, and she was looking forward to a similar experience. However, it appears she had a severe allergic reaction to this second dose with many of the symptoms described in the adverse reactions section of the clinical trials. By the afternoon of the injection, she was experiencing severe back pain and thigh pain along with chills and shivering. By the evening, she was not improving, and her fever reached 104 with nausea and vomiting. We took her to the ER. They could find no evidence of infection through blood and urine tests. Her fever and nausea improved, but her stomach was still upset two days later."

Synvisc-One (hylan g-f 20) "Not sure why all of these negative experiences. 59 years old with osteoarthritis in both knees, bone on bone inside left. Arthroscopic surgery two years ago to clean left helped with swelling and some pain. Taking shots every six months in both knees for two years. Definitely works... received my black belt in martial arts earlier this year and never would've accomplished that without the shots."

Synvisc-One (hylan g-f 20) "I'd gotten the Synvisc-One shot injection annually the past 2 years. I went in on 10/16 to get a preventative shot, and since my insurance deductibles had been met for the year, I wanted to get it before the end of the year. My knee began swelling up as soon as I got home, with lots of pain. I went in a day later and had him drain it, then a couple of days later and had him drain it again. I never got any infection, however, the doctor stated that around 5% of the patients will have a bad reaction. It's now Dec '16, and I still have pain (no swelling, just burning/pain on the inside of the knee). Some days worse than others, some days I can walk without much pain, other days, it hurts like hell to walk on it. Also hurts while sleeping, some nights worse than others. NO MORE."

Synvisc-One (hylan g-f 20) "I have had 2 injections over the past year. I am reading many reviews where there is pain when the injection is given! The doctor numbs the knee, but the injection is very painful. This pain lasts several hours, and I do have swelling. Once the initial pain and swelling are over, I feel the Synvisc is working. I was having pain up and down the right leg radiating from the knee. That pain is gone, and I am able to take my daily walks. I am 62 and led a very active and athletic life. Though I can't run the half-marathons anymore, my daily life is pretty normal with minimal knee pain."

Synvisc-One (hylan g-f 20) "I had injections in both knees today of the Synvisc One. This is the third time in a year and a half. First one injection, no problems, no side effects, but a little sore afterwards for a day. After the second one, I had stiffness and pain for a few days. I called the office and was told to use ice. After three days, it was better, just a little sore. I had the third one in both knees today, and OUCH! The right knee didn’t hurt much due to it being numbed before they did it. The left hurt. I was sore walking out, but okay. About three hours later, my knees are stiff, excruciating pain, hurting all the way down to my feet, swelling. I cannot get up from a sitting position. I cannot bend my knees, they are so stiff. Walking is horrible, and I need help with my legs not wanting to move. I’m elevating with ice. I need relief."

Synvisc-One (hylan g-f 20) "I've had Synvisc One injections at least three times, and each time they last anywhere from 6 to 8 months. The relief is awesome. I am careful not to overuse the knee and avoid many activities that I used to do that put undue stress on the knee, but I work full-time, stand for long periods of time, and ride a bike occasionally, and Synvisc allows me to do this. However, I am in need of a new dose, and this time I need to pay a co-insurance amount of over $400.00. This is far more than I used to pay, so I am not sure what is going on: same doctor, same insurance."

Synvisc-One (hylan g-f 20) "After two knee scopes, a cortisone injection and a Synvisc-One injection last week. I was told it could be a month before any relief. Knee hurts so bad at night I cannot sleep. So far, my knee problems, i.e., pain, knee collapse, and swelling, are worse than ever. Hope it starts working soon."

Synvisc-One (hylan g-f 20) "I got the Synvisc One shot on my left knee 6/7/2016. I was nervous after reading some of these stories. I felt a little pressure and felt fine. I elevated and iced it for two days. Day 3, I was doing the 'Happy Dance.' My knee feels great!"

Synvisc-One (hylan g-f 20) "My poor left knee was just ruined, to the point that I had to stay off of it for two weeks, then hobble to the doctor's office on crutches. Osteoarthritis, the bane of people over 60. I got a shot in the knee (just a tiny sting for a few seconds). This has been like a miracle. I'm not ready to take up tap dancing, but 90% of the pain was gone by the next day. It's just been wonderful, and I'm so glad I went to the doctor, instead of being stubborn and refusing to go."

Synvisc-One (hylan g-f 20) "I have received the one dosage Synvisc shot in my knees for many years now, and every time but once they did a remarkable job! They allow me to be pain-free and resume exercise and activities. For me, the effects of the shot last about 9 months. So I have to go back for another shot in about a year. Be ready for very bad pain when you get the shot, plus it is very painful to walk out of the doctor's office after receiving the shot (especially after receiving shots in both knees!). But, after a couple of days, the pressure from the shot settles down and there is no or very little pain from osteoarthritis. I highly recommend Synvisc when one needs more lubricant in the knee joint."

Synvisc-One (hylan g-f 20) "I chose to go with one injection instead of 3 this morning in both knees. The doctor told me it could take up to a month to feel the full effects. I am already feeling much less pain in my knees 10 hours later, no swollen knees, no pressure, and much more range of pain-free motion. At this point, I am very pleased."

Synvisc-One (hylan g-f 20) "Had each knee done in 2009. The shots lasted close to five years with some minor discomfort coming back. I had two more shots just today, hope it lasts another 5 years. Biggest problem, Blue Cross in Mass won't cover it. $875 per shot!"

Synvisc-One (hylan g-f 20) "I just experienced my first Synvisc injection yesterday. It was my first time with Synvisc after previously having a cortisone injection in my right knee. The cortisone offered no relief at all, plus I experienced redness in my face and agitation to the point that I couldn't sleep for two days. My initial apprehension with the Synvisc shot was over how the actual shot would feel. Bravery is not my strong point! I have not had enough time to evaluate how well it works yet, but I can already feel an improvement. They drained a lot of fluid from my knee beforehand, which I hear helps it work. The actual procedure and shot was virtually painless. The P.A. took his time, and honestly, I didn't even feel a little pinch. I was very, very pleased."
