"Would not recommend. I went from being the happiest person I know, to wanting to being in the darkest part of my life every second of every day. I’ve since stopped taking it and have gone back to a copper IUD and am completely fine."

"I’ve been on this medication for almost 6 years, and other than a few side effects, it’s amazing - honestly. The side effects are mostly related to PMS, tender breasts, and some mood swings, but that could also just be me. In my opinion, the pros outweigh the cons. Pros are short, light, and very regular period; no weight gain; reduced acne; and, above all, no pregnancies in my 6 years of using it! So yay!"

"Comments from people with positive reviews assuming things like “Women who rated this pill poorly just didn’t give their bodies time to adjust” are so disheartening to see. This pill gave me crazy back acne, headaches so bad I couldn’t get up, and awful anxiety for months on end. I assure you that I gave it plenty of time to see if I would “adjust” to this pill and I had had enough of feeling like I was going insane waiting for that to happen. If this pill worked for you, that’s great. But there’s a large number of us it didn’t work for and that’s okay. Birth control is completely dependent on body chemistry and while some people have done great on this pill, people who have gone through horrible things because of it are completely valid in their reviews as well. Be careful and watch your emotions and mental health when being on Cryselle."

"Okay so this birth control helped my periods to be lighter and less cramps, but I became so emotional and depressed to the point where I couldn’t take it. I would cry every single day and my mind would make up crazy situations. I just felt so emotional all the time. I’m in the process of switching to another birth control right now because I seriously could not handle the mood swings that it caused."

"I've been using Cryselle for three months now and it has been amazing!!! I used to get horrible cramps that often made me nauseous and that resulted in me missing several days of school just because of my period. Since I've been on this birth control, my period changed from 5 days to 3 days and I bleed much lighter with mild to no cramps. The first couple weeks I had some mood swings and cravings for food but it stopped after the first month. The only downside to it is it will make you feel nauseous if you take it at night and my breasts are very tender and sore during my period. But other than that A++!!!"

"I've been using this pill now for about a month . My mood has changed drastically. I'm always depressed, most of the time I Wana cry, it makes me feel really nervous , and I can't stand most people, feeling stressed. I lost few lbs which is a good thing and it controls my weight since I have hormonal imbalance. But I hope to get off this pill asap"

"This is my second time around of being on it and it's way worse than the first time. Well, at least the first month was HORRIBLE and when I say horrible I mean horrible. My period had came way too early, it came like the second week starting the pills, lasted the rest of the month, cramps were so bad that they woke me up out of a dead sleep every 1-2 hours, nothing helped to ease the pain. Happened more at night but I had them during the day as well. It was that bad I almost had to call off work and I'm the type that never calls off, I'd have to be dying. Now I'm almost through my second month, it's going A LOT better! This month was better than last. I suggest to give it time, let it run it's course even if it gets horrible like mine did."

"Do not take. Raised blood glucose levels on Cryselle to over 200. With Cryselle right away I noticed my temper went through the roof. I was always mad, sad, or feeling down. So for those reasons I was constantly doubting myself. That was pretty bad for me but the worst part was that it was spiking my blood glucose anywhere from 200 to 250. My previous levels before taking this pill were very normal at 88 fasting so that’s a huge jump. I did extensive monitoring and it would spike up to those levels within one hour of taking the pill and no other foods. And that was only with one full week of taking it. I switched back to my previous birth control and 4 days later my blood glucose is finally starting to regulate itself. It’s still a little high with it being 106 after fasting but it’s the lowest it’s been in a while. I just wanted to share my experience because when I researched this drug I did not see effects on blood glucose and it could become a dangerous thing."

"I have been taking Cryselle for 2 years now and I love it. Haven't had any side effects and the way it helps keep my period regular is awesome. I know exactly when to expect it and how long it will last. Before Cryselle I was taking another birth control that made me nauseous, gave me headaches, and would give me 2 periods a month. I love that I found Cryselle and I will continue to use it."

"I have been using cryselle for almost 2 years now. ACNE: The first couple of months... my acne got pretty awful. Eventually I started to see my acne dramatically getting better. I had severe acne before starting the pill and now I only have a couple pimples at a time. WEIGHT: For the first 5 months I stayed the same weight and my boobs didn’t grow at all (so if you are looking for a pill to make your boobs bigger I would not recommend this pill). By the 7th month I gained 15 pounds without changing anything in my diet or exercise. Now I fluctuate up and down quite a lot in weight without changing anything. MOOD: my mood has pretty much stayed the same from what I have noticed. Only thing that has changed since taking the pill is that my irritability has increased quite a bit. This could just be non- related to the pill but I’m not exactly sure. Do realize not everyone reacts to medication the same so my experience may differ from yours!"

"This pill is honestly so terrible. The first week I began taking it, I started to break out all over my face with extremely painful cystic acne. It was uncontrollable. As soon as I started to take the inert pills, my face cleared up. Also this has caused me to form a fibroadenoma in my breast, and I have an extremely extensive family history of breast cancer in young women. I'm only 20 years old and I have fibrocystic breast disease, and I've been on just about every birth control on the market. If you have this condition as well STAY AWAY from this drug at all costs."

"Honestly the worst BC I’ve EVER been on. My old PCP changed me without my consent, the first 3 months I didn’t have a period. My fiancé had to keep buying pregnancy tests for me (which were all negative) I have developed PCOS (Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome), my depression has gotten severely worse to the point I have to be on two Aantidepressants instead of one, I never have normal periods, I take iron supplements & this time my period was so bad I almost passed out & gave me a cramp for 5 hours straight. No matter whether I have a tampon in AND a maxi pad on, I’ll manage to bleed down my legs."

"I have been on this pill for over 4 years. In these past four years I have been moody, emotional, and depressed. I seriously thought I had a mental disorder, and I seemed helped because of it. The only good thing about this pill was I never got pregnant. Since stopping this pill I have been happy...and my true self again."

"I swear this pill made me so anxious. I would have so many panic attacks and always feeling the worst was about to happen. It always got better on the period week...the week not on the pill (obvi). I don't know....I don't recommend this pill to someone who may struggle with anxiety or depression. I did perfectly fine on Ortho Tri Cycline other than I had switched due to the irritability I felt. I then realized, I'd rather be a grump than always going in panic mode."

"was not on BC for many years till my dr recommended birth control in order to help with my endometriosis. I've been on this for a month and a half and no progress in period or cramps, and I've never had worse acne than I do right now. I hardly wear any make up and rarely ever get pimples and what started as a dry scaly rash type thing on my chin and jawline has one week later turned into burning red acne all over my face. I've also noticed how severely depressed I have become. Although I have struggled with depression throughout the past 8 years, I have never ever felt this depressed or uninterested in anybody and everything. everything and everyone irritates me. Once I looked up others reviews I decided I will not take this again"

"I have been taking Cryselle for just over two years, and have been fighting depression, weight gain, terrible heafaches, and anxiety attacks for the entire duration. I live a very stressful life, but I was always optimistic and could fight through it. Until I started taking this pill. After about 3 months, I tried to commit suicide, my depression has become debilitating, and I have anxiety attacks at the most random moments, without any triggers. I've been off the pill for about a week, and my mood is already improving. This pill changed who I am completely. I lost my friends and became distant, all because of the depression. I'm not sure how to be me again, or who me even is anymore. Be careful, and watch out for any side effects."

"I was on this for a year, they told me this birth control helped with acne so I listened. I noticed my skin was getting worse but I always suffered from acne since I was 13. I noticed a change in my behavior, I would get angry a lot, cried more. I recently decided to stop taking this medicine to do an experiment to see if anything would change when I stopped. My acne has completely cleared up now I'm off it I just have a zit here and there. I'm also happier, not as tired. I even went to my dermatologist and she said she's never heard of this birth control to help with acne which is really weird. So for anyone who is deciding to try this as there birth control I wouldn't recommend it, especially if you're using it for an acne regiment. I have seen people comment that they have tried this for a month and noticed more acne, and some people were saying that's because there body didn't get used to it yet. Well I'm here to say that I was on this for almost two years and I had the exact same issues the whole time."

"I just began week 3 of my pack. This has been the absolute worst experience side effect wise I've ever had. I've used other BC pills, had Mirena, the depo shot, and also used the patch over the last 17 years. No problems from ANY of them except this awful medication. In 3 weeks I have gained 15 pounds (3 of those 15 were gained the first day taking my first pill. I ate maybe 1,200 calories and did 45 mins of cardio that day so I know.... I have psychotic mood swings, and it has interfered with my sleep so badly that I have to take SEVEN Tylenol PM to fall asleep. I am on no other meds, and have no health problems. It is so bad I'm considering quitting taking it a week early. If you're reading this and considering taking this med please, DON'T!"

"Cryselle changed my life. I went from super heavy periods with unbearable cramps that lasted 6-7 days to light, painless periods that last 3 days. My mood swings are gone and I haven't had any side effects besides a decreased libido which I honestly don't mind."

"Finally , after countless trials and errors with different pills I found one that works . Going on month 2. First week it gave me a headache and a bit of nausea but by week 2 I felt fine . I know they say it takes up to 3 months for your body to adjust so I am waiting to see if it does clear up my face a bit . Other than that , sex drive has been higher which is a plus."

The pill changed everything no more constant headaches, no cramps or any menstrual symptoms, no acne, light flow 3-4 & no weight gain. The pills been great to me!"

"I've been on it for about 3 years, it works as I haven't gotten pregnant. My first 3 months were horrible with nausea and vomiting on the first 2 weeks of the pack. I take my pill at night so waking up on the first weeks of the pack was horrible. My doctor warned me of feeling 'morning sickness' but the nausea subsided after the 3 months. I still occasionally get some nausea but it's only if I missed a dose and had to take 2 on the same day. My periods are about 3 days and light. I always get it by the third day of taking the placebo pills. Some months I get cramps but they're not painful. I get PMS one week before my period, and I've noticed I get really depressed, emotional And get chin acne. I've gotten used to it so I'm okay with it."

"DO NOT get on this medication. I was taking Crystelle for about 9 months. During the 7th month I started noticing my hair thinning quite a bit and it was getting extremely brittle. I went off the pill after the 9 months and my hair was continuing to fall out. 3 months later I was losing chunks of hair up until the point that the shower drain was clogged after every shower. I had a receding hairline and about 1/3 of the amount of hair I have always had. It took over a year but my hair started coming back. During this whole process I had gone to one of the top hair loss clinics in the country thinking I was battling female hair loss or alopecia. I was almost diagnosed with alopecia at the age of 29 due to this medication and it wasn't until my hair started coming back that the medication proved to be the cause. It's not worth going through something so tramatic unnecessarily. Stay off this medication!"

"I've been on Cryselle for 3 years. It's the best birth control that ever has controlled my period. Light, never heavy, sometimes so light you don't have to wear anything except a liner. I'll start on Thursday be off by late Saturday with spotting on Sunday. Before, I'd bleed for two weeks straight. But the side effects of this pill are horrible. Everything starts two weeks before, severe breast tenderness, uncontrollable mood swings, nausea, headaches, and slight stomach pains that aren't cramps. If you can bare all of the symptoms and have short periods then Cryselle is for you if not then you should pass."
