"INTENSE MOOD SWINGS on Estarylla. That take a few months to level out. I had to be put back on antidepressants, but different ones that wouldn't interact with the drug. I've also been bleeding for over a month now and I've been on the Estarylla pill for about 5 months. My face is clear though. Not pregnant so I guess it's doing its job ??"

"I started taking this pill for severe menstrual cramps (I've had to take a lot of ibuprofen daily to manage the pain) and to hopefully decrease the amount of clots I was passing (sorry...TMI...I know!) throughout my period which were very large, numerous, and painful. I am very pleased with the results.! After only one month the clotting and PMS symptoms have significantly decreased, the cramps are manageable, and I was able to function like a "normal" person at work on my cycle. I was apprehensive about Estarylla birth control of all of the bad reviews, but it has been a lifesaver for me! Sticking with this pill forever and ever! Amen!"

"I like to think of myself as a pretty normal 20-year-old and I play sports in college. Ever since my pharmacy changed from ortho tri cyclen to tri-estarylla, I have been depressed, crying, angry, severe anxiety attacks and more. I have been on birth control for my irregular periods since I was about 16 and had NO problems with Ortho Tri Cyclen. DO NOT TAKE TRI-ESTARYLLA!"

"I went to my OBGYN for my yearly appointment and she refilled the same pill that I've been on for two years. Loved Trinessa, did its job, I could estimate the time of my period down to the hour. Lasted 4 days. And for being a person that switched pills for a year trying to lessen my sad feelings, Trinessa really did me well. So, after my yearly appointment, I went to pick up my new, yearly prescription. CVS stopped carrying Trinessa and gave me Tri-Estarylla instead. All they told me was that they did not carry Trinessa and that this was the same chemical compound, just a different generic brand. Well now, I've been on this new pill for two weeks, and I have yet to stop bleeding from my last week on Trinessa! Spotting is terrible."

"I started taking Estarylla after my pharmacy (or doctor) switched me from Mononessa. I was upset at first because I really liked Mononessa since I didn’t have any bad side effects but after about 8 months, I’m still doing pretty good with Estarylla. I have iron deficiency anemia so I started using it to control my flow and my periods went from 7 days, all pretty heavy to about 5 days with only the first 2 being heavy. I haven’t noticed any weight gain outside of me being lazy, no aches and obviously not pregnant which is a nice little bonus. I do take it at the same time everyday, I don’t mind it. I would recommend at least trying it bc thankfully when you’re on the pill, you can just stop taking it without having to schedule a removal or remove anything yourself."

"My cvs decided to switch my normal brand tri-sprintec to tri-estraylla. I had been on tri-sprintec for years with no issues whatsoever. At first i thought everything was going fine but by month 3 it got horrible. my period was heavy and horrible. i was in severe pain and i had so many heavy clots i thought i had a miscarriage. after this eventually subsided i had breakthrough bleeding, heavy and light, which has continued and is still going on even now. this has been 3 full weeks or more. its insane. it has ruined a lot of really good clothes because you wouldn't know when it was going to come and bam there it is. it has really put a damper on my sex life! totally disgusted. so i'm forcing CVS to order my original pills because i am done!"

"Despite all of the awful reviews, I’m actually pretty happy with this pill. About 2 years ago I was on Trinessa Lo and it was awful. I had headaches so bad I thought my head was going to pop. I was always moody and cried over nothing. I would have a lot of really dark depressed thoughts as well and almost got sent to a mental hospital. This made me so scared to try anything else but I’m glad I have. In the beginning, for about a week, I did get slight headaches and nausea but it was nothing unbearable. I’m currently on my first month and just started the placebo pills and all side effects are gone. The only issue is my period hasn’t appeared but I heard that’s typically normal in the first three months as your body is adjusting. But overall, I’m happy with this pill."

"I was on Sprintec, but I guess my pharmacy changed the distributor... Anyway, these pills gave me really bad acne, nausea and random bleeding and pain. I stopped taking them before I could even finish 1 month of the pack. I DO NOT RECOMMEND!!"

"Estaryalla negatively impacted my life. I had severe side effects such as abnormal vaginal bleeding, severe headaches, loss of coordination, severe mood swings, sharp pains in my abdominal region and that’s to just name a few. I would not recommend this brand of birth control to anyone. It was horrible. This pill made things just awful."

"I was prescribed the Estarylla pill to control my bleending on December 9th. I was told to take 3 daily and then 2 for two days. Then 1 until the pack is all gone. I’ve had abnormal bleeding and my periods are irregular. This was supposed to help. I’ve had nothing but brown and black blood. I’m constantly wearing panty liners. Acne is starting to occur. I thought I was pregnant because my cycle was supposedly late. I’ve bought over 30 pregnancy tests all gave me false positives. The blood work said I wasn’t. It’s all a big headache NEVER AGAIN!! Find something else. It’s made me nothing but emotional more than I’ve ever been. My dr doesn’t know why I’ve had false positive pregnancy tests. I’m just annoyed"

"The worst birth control I have ever been on in my entire life! I'm extremely glad I found this site so I can see that other women are experiencing very similar side effects as I am! Due to an MRI I had to get done bc of a car accident my doctor was able to detect a nodule in my liver, I immediately got it checked out. It seems that the birth control caused fatty tissue to develop on my liver. My doctor wants me to get off the pill once I finish with this months batch. Since I've been on this pill for almost a year, I get non stop bleeding that looks like a brown dried up color and it'll continue for the whole month until I get my period. I get mood swings nausea and loss of appetite. If you feel like something is no right please reach out to your GYN!"

"This is my third week on this pill . I have taken birth control before and it was all smooth sailing. But with this pill I feel miserable, I have been bleeding for 5 days (two weeks after my period) and I have been in a horrible mood! Not wanting to talk to anyone or do anything. I would NOT recommend this birth control. I’m stopping immediately"

"I started Estarylla four months ago to regulate my periods. I was having a period every two weeks. The first month I took it I bled for an entire month. When I called the obgyn, I was advised to give it three months to regulate my period. Now my period has become erratic and lasts longer than 7 days. This past period started two weeks ago and ceases to let up. Along with prolonged periods I have experienced stomach nausea, vomiting, anxiety, and extreme mood swings.I plan to visit my OBGYN soon to discuss new options. This is my first time experiencing a negative reaction to birth control."

"Y’all... this pill is the worst experience I have ever had with birth control, and I have tried many pills in my day. Started taking bc at 15 to treat acne, extremely painful and irregular periods. Through out the years I’ve switched for one adverse side effect or another trying to find the right pill for me. Fast forward to 22 starting mononessa. It was terrible, didn’t hate it though. Then out of the blue I’m switched to Estarylla. Called my doctor due to concern I had from others reviews. She assured me it’s just the generic version, same exact ingredients. Totally not true for me. I have been bleeding for 2 straight weeks, rapidly gained weight and been having breakouts on and off. I’m on my third month and going in to see my doctor on Friday to discuss getting an IUD because clearly the pill is not for me. Stay far away from this pill ladies! Seriously. 2 weeks straight of bleeding."

"My pharmacy changed my birth control pill to this. From the very beginning I experienced symptoms that my doctor did not explain to me. I began experiencing shortness of breath, tachycardia, severe dizziness, heart burn and indigestion. I also noticed that every time I drank coffee the symptoms would get worse. I do not recommend this medication. I got off this medication about 3 weeks ago and now I'm feeling much better except for the occasional dizzy spell. Working out and eating well have helped me manage the symptoms. Please consider other brands because it's not worth feeling sick all the time while taking this medication."

"For the first 3 months I experienced terrible cramps and extremely heavy bleeding but then again, before I started taking this BC, I was on my period for a month straight with terrible cramps and heavy bleeding as well. This BC does a good job regulating my period and around month 4, bleeding was a bit lighter and cramping was not apparent at all. I am now on month 5 and I have been breaking out more- lot of icky whiteheads on my cheeks not sure if its cause of the BC, but my period is extremely light and I have no cramps whatsoever. At first I hated Estarylla but now I adore it cause my body just had to adjust after 4 years of abnormal menstrual cycles and menorrhagia."

"I was on a different birth control previously (can’t remember the name at this point). I took the original pill for years until my OBGYN said I needed a stronger pill, so she put me on this rubbish. On my original pill, I got my period like clockwork. Lasted 3 days and it was barely even spotting. I only had to wear panty liners. Now that I’m on this one, my period lasts 2 weeks every month, I get horrible cramps, and my flow is heavier than when I originally started birth control."

"I have an irregular menstrual cycle and I went almost 5 months without having my period so I went to seek medical help. Soon after that my Gyn recommends me to take Estarylla BC pills. On the first week I had mild nausea (which is normal if you are a first time BC user) I also had a lot of acne & within that first week my face cleared out perfectly. On my second week nausea was non-existent and my acne wasn't there at all , I also had a few mood swings but nothing too crazy. Third week I started to notice my acne coming out only on my chin area ( which is where I normally would get when I would start my period) it was there for about 3-4 days till I finally got my period on the 14!! Lucky me. As soon as I got my period I experienced a really heavy flow but it's totally understandable since I haven't got it for 5 months. Right now I am still on my period and just officially finished with my first month and I have no acne at all . Everyones body reacts differently , don't be scared to give it a try."

"I took this pills coz I'm anemic and my doctor previously put in an IUD to cure my anemia but the IUD came come itself so she told me take birth control pills which is this one. It seems like it helped me to stop bleeding but since 10-15 days I felt like I have shortness of breath and my heartbeat is very fast. I donno why she prescribed me this may be because I have amerigroup insurance or something other reason. I went to my doc to checkup he said I might have blood clot in my lungs. My life is messed up now."

"I had excessive bleeding that wouldn’t stop for months. I was going through tampons and pads every hour. It was horrible! I finally got insurance and my doctor started me on Progesterone only pills. I was 50 at the time. They worked well...until they didn’t anymore. I started bleeding excessively again. I went to a new Gynecologist and was put on Estarylla. It worked for me to control the bleeding, but I experienced worsening depression (crying all the time, lack of energy and dark mood swings). I was on antidepressants, but they seemed to stop working. I also experienced massive hair loss..and found out many people were experiencing this as well. My doctor didn’t renew my prescription and I just stopped taking it. Suddenly, I felt better! No extreme depression and no more hair loss! I’m feeling better. From what I experienced, I wouldn’t recommend. Best wishes to all who are going through this. I pray we have more research on this problem for women of all ages."

"I am a 40 something woman and started this med to control bleeding. It made me nauseous for the first week then I was fine. My poor husband. Between the 15 pound weight gain and the mood swings I have been quite un-happy! I agree with the other statements that it makes you very depressed. I struggle with depression and this made it a lot worse. I would rather go back to bleeding every two weeks than deal with this crap! Starting on something different next week. Thank you to everyone who also replied. I don't feel like it is just me. It is definitely the medicine! So long Estarylla!!"

"I have only been on this birth control for about 3 to 4 months. Prior to starting this I had at least 2 weeks out of each months feeling sick, crying, severe depression, cramps that would keep me up all night, headaches, no energy you name it. Since I've been on the pill most of my symptoms have lightened up & my PMS starts a few days before my period not a week or more ahead. I will say this month I have been more emotional but this is the first time I've noticed my flow being lighter. At my last check up I was told my symptoms would improve more the longer I've been on it, so fingers crossed it continues to get better each month!"

"Was on Sprintec for years and recently started having increased nausea and increased nervousness. GYN switched me to Estarylla. I've been on it for a month now and I feel really good. No nausea, headaches, less cramping but it takes about 3 months to regulate in your body so the breakthrough bleeding has been unpredictable. With Sprintec, I didn't have a cycle for 3-4 months (taking it back to back) but now I've had some spotting and 2 episodes of heavy bleeding with clots unexpectedly. Don't like that, but cramps are much less and emotions are constant so I will just wait it out the 3 months hoping my body will regulate. Other than the bleeding, I actually love this pill so far."

"I was prescribed a high dose of Estarylla. Prior to starting the BC, within four months my cycle had gone from normal (3-5 days) to extremely heavy and non stop for two days. I knew because of the high dose I would experience severe side effects which I hoped would eventually go away once my body adjusted... And, they are. First month on BC- big painful blemishes, extremely bloated and nauseated. Second month on BC- clear skin, hardly have an appetite, still somewhat nauseated. I think my third month will be better!"
