For Birth Control "My OBGYN switched me to this pill because she believed the Necon 0.5/35 I was previously on contained unnecessary amounts of hormone for me. About 3 months in my libido decreased but I wasn't having any other side effects so I decided to wait it out and see if things got better. Around month six I missed my period three months in a row, wasn't pregnant, thank god, and started breaking out like crazy. My periods have resumed but I've got no sex drive, rly bad skin and have become emotionally unstable around my time of the month which is very unusual for me. I am 24 years old, 5"7', 125 lbs. and have a pretty active lifestyle if anyone wants those statistics for their reference. I'll be switching at the end of this months pack."

For Birth Control "I've been on Microgestin for almost 3 years, and the only side effect I ever had was that it cleared up my acne completely. My periods are very light now and extremely regular, as opposed to being heavy and sporadic before. Have had constant unprotected sex for 3 years and have never had a scare whatsoever. Oh and it's free with my insurance. 100% win."

For Birth Control "I have been on this birth control for a month now. I was never really the type of person to get a lot of acne but ever since I started on this pill I’ve got super bad acne & hate my skin. I was “light bleeding” for over 2 weeks. I have gained a little over 10 pounds since I started because I'm constantly wanting food. Before I started this birth control I weighted 115, now I weigh 127 in one month. Another thing is I'm always tired no matter how much I sleep. The only “plus” side is that my cramps aren't as bad anymore."

For Birth Control "I am 20 years old and here's my experience with this birth control. Pros: didn't get pregnant. SLIGHTLY fuller breasts in the same cup size. Didn't gain weight. Cons: I lost ALL sex drive and became a moody, depressive, crying, tired, sad prude. Which is sad because my husband thought I wasn't attracted to him and I am VERY attracted to his sexy handsome self! My acne also got worse. After two months I stopped the pills and switched to condoms. I am back to my sexual self and get along 100"

For Birth Control "First off, let me say the 9 is being given because I am not using this as traditional birth control. Love the regularity, love that my cramps are gone, love that I can adjust my cycle if I have a special event, love that I have had zero weight gain (have lost weight but that is due to diet/exercise), and love that I still feel like myself on this pill. Monthly I do still experience some bloating and PMS, but compared to my previous almost PMDD symptoms this is great. The moods are much more controllable and I feel less emotional. I would recommend taking the "inactive" iron pills - when I didn't take them my periods were heavier. Good luck!"

For Birth Control "I have been on this birth control for awhile now probably a year. I love the fact it makes my periods super light and super short. I even skip periods often which is scary but a relief at the same time. The biggest downfall is the fact I am depressed a lot and have zero sex drive. I blame the birth control because I have gone without it for a few days because I ran out and I felt like a new happy woman with a sex drive."

For Birth Control "I'm 18 I've been on the pill for a month now and love it. The first pill I took I did get very nauseous but nothing water and a nap couldn't fix. Breasts have gotten a cup size larger, more sexually active but my boyfriend doesn't mind. Haven't had any pregnancy scares, but I have not had a period yet. I switched from the Depo shot to the pill and I like the pill a lot more. Just need to remember to take it everyday around the same time."

For Birth Control "I'm currently on a mood swing so forgive me. Although I've just started this pill 3 weeks ago. Every other day I cry for no reason. Then I get angry and mad and just lose my appetite. And sick to my stomach. I feel bloated daily and just annoyed. I have my good days. I was so much more happy though before the pill. And the only great thing is my breasts grew like 2 sizes haha. Other than that I'm making an appointment tomorrow. I'm fed up with these strange mood swings."

For Menstrual Disorders "Microgestin is terrible! Although it stops periods, you cannot run out of packets at all with this medication. I missed a pill due to delays while I was in Texas, and right after, breakthrough bleeding started. It happens every month. You cannot miss a pill. The minute you do, breakthrough bleeding starts immediately after."

"I've been on this pill for 7 months. I'd been having hormonal issues so I thought a pill with less estrogen in it would help. Perhaps I am allergic to this pill. It upsets my stomach. The last few months it has been like I have diarrhea. After every meal I have an urgent need to use the restroom. My period has been unpredictable, heavy at first, then it lightened. One month I didn't get one. Now it's average in length but my back aches & I feel tired. I break out twice a month with mild acne. I have a 3-4 day window where I feel like having sex & my body will respond. Other times I want to have sex, but I am dry and my body is slow to respond. I am moody, easy to cry & anger. My boobs itch, I get bloated and I'm losing hair like crazy!"

For Birth Control "I switched to this pill from Mirena due to severe cystic acne (from the Mirena). The last pill I had taken was Yaz, which I did great with. After my first month on Microgestin Fe, my cystic acne started clearing up. The first couple days I was nauseous, but that went away. Taking it right before bed helps. I've been on it for about 3 months now and I've gained about 10 lbs. I'm the heaviest I've ever been! I'm always hungry and have developed an intense sweet tooth! My breasts did get larger. I'm a 34 C, and I can still wear the same bra size, they just look fuller. No extra sensitivity with them, though. My libido didn't really change. Just my weight."

For Birth Control "This is the only birth control that I have used and it was recommended to me by a friend. I have been on it for over two years now and have had virtually no side effects at all. During my first month on it I spotted almost everyday, but after that I did not have a single issue with this pill. My periods are extremely light to the point where I have not even needed a pad or tampon in two years. I have not experienced any acne, mood swings, weight gain, or libido changes whatsoever."

For Birth Control "I am finishing up my 4th pack of this pill and I am seriously considering switching pills. The first two months weren't too bad, I had mild side effects but they were manageable. It wasn't until the third month that I started getting constant nausea like all day everyday and even worse at night, headaches, sore boobs, frequent urination and absolutely no sex drive. The only good thing is my period is like clockwork and I'm for sure not pregnant but the side effects make me feel like I am!!!"

For Birth Control "I have Endometriosis and am perimenopausal. Had laparoscopic surgery on my endometriosis 15 years ago and had easy periods for years after. In the past year, as perimenopause set in, my periods became unbearable and came every 2 - 3 weeks, so I decided to try microgestin Fe to control symptoms and frequency of periods. The first 8 or 10 days were awful: severe nausea, lethargy, deep depression, and bleeding/spotting for 14 days. Someone suggested I take the pill at night before bed instead of in the morning. Immediately, like magic, everything normalized. It's now been 3 months - my moods are stable, no spotting, no bloating, no cramping, no breakouts. Only real side effect is constipation from the supplemental iron. Now I drink fiber beverages each morning and all is well. Every person reacts differently, but I wanted to share that the bad side effects aren't necessarily permanent."

For Birth Control "Literally put me in such a dark place, I think I cried every day for months on this pill. I talked to my doctor and she said I maybe needed therapy. I switched birth controls just Incase because a friend suggested that might be the issue and right when I switched I felt like a weight was lifted and I turned completely back to my happy self!! Basically I feel like doctors often don’t talk about the mental side effects of birth control pills a lot. So if you are ever depressed and think it’s that, don’t let anyone talk you out of switching! But everyone’s body is different so it might work for you. My favorite is amethyst/lybrel since it has one of the lowest doses of estrogen you can get in a combination pill- for me less estrogen = less side effects! I feel great now!"

For Birth Control "This is effective in preventing pregnancies, but I've had some other unpleasant side effects. I've been on this for 9 months. During the first three, I would always break out real bad around the time of my period. Then for a couple months, the acne stopped, but other symptoms began popping up: Spotting, sometimes early period, extreme mood swings, weight gain (20lbs). The last two months, when my libido began to suffer, I decided to switch. NO sex drive. None. It's killing me. Even if I want to have sex, which is rare anyway, my body says no. The end of this pack is it for me."

For Birth Control "I have finished my first packed of this birth control and honestly haven't really had any side effects. I was afraid at first of starting because of all the reviews I've read online about the mood swings and such but I haven't experienced any. The only side effect I did notice was random spotting (bleeding). It's not a lot though. Overall so far I am pleased with this birth control, this is actually my first birth control I am taking. By the way I am 18 years old."

For Birth Control "Yes it is effective as a birth control contraceptive. The side effects I have had loss of sex drive, moodiness, weight gain and an irregular menstrual cycle. I stopped taking that pack of pills the end of January 2014 as of now I have yet to have a menstrual cycle. Something is right."

For Birth Control "I was on Microgestin for about 3 years. Over the past year, I started to get extremely bad headaches during the sugar pill week. I took extra strength Tylenol the entire week, twice a day, and it still didn't make my headaches go away. I also would feel very lightheaded and nauseous. I had to leave work early, it was bad. The only good thing was I've had the same box of tampons for the entire year. I barely had a period. Oh yeah, I also got high pigmentation right above my lips. They call it a "pregnancy mask" but you can get it with certain birth control. It is very dark and it is difficult to hide with makeup! I'm not a big fan of having a weird skin mustache so I went off it."

For Birth Control "The medication is 100% effective in preventing pregnancy, as long as you follow the guidelines of the medication. This is my 3rd month on the pill I have not gained weight or had any serious side effects. I do notice that I get cramps the week of my period but very minor. My period flow is a lot lighter. The only discomfort is breast enlargement and tenderness."

For Birth Control "I have been on this pill for almost 1 year. It’s the first BC pill I’ve ever taken and it regulated my periods. I used to only get my period about 6-8 times a year and this pill helped with that. I took it every day on time and it’s very effective at preventing pregnancy. I didn’t get any bad side effects which is great. I did however gain 10 lbs and I’m not complaining because I needed it and now I’m at a steady weight. I just switched to Junel Fe and now I’m sad because Microgestin changed my life and made me feel more confident."

For Birth Control "On Microgestin Fe 1/20 Absolutely horrible! Mentally, I was a complete wreck and struggled to feel happy or excited for anything. I was depressed and upset 24/7 and would get angry for the dumbest reasons. I felt so hopeless, I lost interest in everyday tasks/activities. I broke out like crazy on my chin and have always had clear skin. I thankfully switched to Junel FE which has been great."

For Birth Control "Switched because my old pill was crazy expensive. This pill personally just does not agree with me! No weight gain but sore breasts constantly, lack of periods, nausea, shortness of breath. Been on it since December (now it's May) and I've had about enough. My sister was on this pill also and she said she also would go months without a period (which is just get on your nerves)."

For Birth Control "I switched from Safyral to Microgestin. After reading the horrible reviews of this pill, I literally cried.I wanted to share my GOOD experience with taking Microgestin over the past ~2 months. I have noticed no spike in appetite, except around the week before my period and at times while I'm on my period, which is not unusual for me. I have not noticed any extreme bloating, and I've experienced little to no nausea. I have no cramps, no spotting, and my period is now extremely light, to the point where I forget I have it at times. I only experienced one patch of skin on my face that became almost unnoticeably darker, but it faded in a week. I exercise daily, eat reasonably, and I have not gained weight. THIS PILL IS NOT BAD IN MY EXPERIENCE"

For Birth Control "I was very hesitant to try this birth control after reading SO many negative reviews. I decided that I would go ahead and try it anyways, since everyone reacts differently. Personally, I absolutely LOVE this birth control. I have been on it for approximately three months now, and have not had any bad side effects whatsoever. I used to be on Yasmin for 3 years, and would get headaches almost daily. Ever since I switched, I rarely get headaches. I have had no weight gain, no mood swings, no acne, and no change in breast size (unfortunately). I have noticed my periods are much lighter and I have had no spotting. Overall, I give this birth control an A ."
