For Dry Eye Disease "I was diagnosed with extreme dry eye, in part due to past Lasix surgery, part occupational hazard, and part age related. My doctor put me on Restasis. It turns out I am allergic. I had none of the eye pain others described. But, my vision was very blurry impeding my ability to read and focus starting day 1. I increased my fluid intake, thinking dehydration. I had a "light " headache, sinus & throat issues getting progressively worse and I would suddenly lose my voice & experience dizziness. My blood pressure was elevated. My face became red & itchy. After feeling abnormalities in the blood flow around my heart, I stopped the Restasis. This all happened in 4 days. Most of the symptoms left 48 hours after stopping. Restasis is not for everyone."

For Dry Eye Disease "I was prescribed restasis along with the steroid drop by my eye doctor for severe dry eye. This medication was really rough on my eyes. It did not burn the inside of my eyes per se, but did burn around the eyelids leaving a dark mark as if my eye is charred, swelling redness, excessive watering, and a high mucus buildup. It still looks as if I have a black eye on my right eye. It had no benefit whatsoever and the doctor stopped it after about 3 weeks of treatment because of the bad side effects just started Xiidra today the reviews on it's page are just as bad as the reviews on this page for restasis. I'm not feeling very hopeful."

For Dry Eye Disease "I have used Restasis for many years with success but was very disappointed when I attempted to use the new bottles. Even after following the instructions it is extremely difficult to get the drop out and into the eye. After voicing my concerns to the insurance company I was sent a gratis bottle which worked the same as the others. In addition the product is very expensive. I recommend this product be taken off the market and the vials be used to fill prescriptions."

For Dry Eye Disease "The new multi dose bottles are horrid!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! My dry eyes due to Sjogrens was under control finally after using the vials for a few years! I am now back to the painful dry eyes, which has also exacerbated my macular degeneration! I am angry about this change that is advancing the loss of my eye sight! To my knowledge there is no way to have the dr increase the prescription. If anyone else has any experience like this please let me know."

"I started this medication about a week ago in preparation for Lasik surgery. At first I balked at the price, but it works really well and I thank my lucky starts for the company that made it. My eyes are not as red as before and I am not blinking every three seconds. I think it's great!"

"About little more than six months ago I had perfectly healthy eyes, then I had an eye burn. Both of my eyes were inflamed and severly dry and painful after that burn, later causing an eye ulcer on my left eye. I was completely devastated, could not even believe that happened to me! But, then my second ophthalmologist prescribed me Restasis, I started using them but every time wanted to stop, because there were no results whatsoever! But, I continued using them hoping that they would help because my eyes were extremely inflamed and dry and painful! After only 4whole months I finally started seeing some results! My eyes started healing slowly, but at least they started improving! This is my fifth month, and I really do think they are helping"

For Dry Eye Disease "My husband is 42 years old and has perfect (20/20) vision. He began experiencing eye trouble about two years ago. It began with a few floaters. He says he still has these floaters as well as a feeling as if there are 'shadows' being cast over his eyes/eyelids. He also complains that they burn and have a 'sand' or 'grit' feeling in them. He has been to several eye doctors, all of which have either written him off completely, or diagnosed him with having severe dry eye. He tried Restasis and they have since become worse. No relief at all. He uses the non-preservative eye drops throughout the day and others occasionally. I see quite a few people have said the same thing, the Restasis just doesn't work. The discomfort has worsened."

For Dry Eye Disease "After reading the comments I found it interesting that everyone has the same complaint and so do I. The new bottle is a joke!! I too have experienced it taking awhile to come out and when it does, it isn't a drop. You have to squeeze hard to get anything to come out!! I already have used one bottle which was shy of a months supply. I find for the money, this unacceptable. I have used various eye drop dispensers in my life but this is ridiculous!! Either go back to the vials or find a better bottle."

For Dry Eye Disease "The new bottles of Restasis is a disaster. I agree with the other critics that it doesn’t work. I’m beginning to get long term pain in my thumb from trying to make it work correctly. This dosage method and the new higher price are shameful. I think I should get in touch with the food and drug administration about this."

For Dry Eye Disease "The Restasis multi dose bottles are IMPOSSIBLE!!! What does it take to make Allergan construct a bottle that works as they claim? Not only is the bottle defective but the product is price prohibitive for most seniors (assume they make up most of the consumers) and the so-called “month” supply was 23 days for my first month, I’m just half way through my second bottle. It is causing me great anxiety that is only increasing after each use...or should I say attempt!!!"

For Dry Eye Disease "I have been using restasis single use vials for years and they have definitely helped my post lasik dry eyes--eye doc confirms corneas healthier, no dry patches. I was using the single use vials, using each one twice as everyone does, with no problems. I decided I'd try the multidose vials. I'd make the same comments as others--they are hard to dispense, dispense more than you need, and will not last a month, let alone 45 days, which makes them more than twice as expensive as the vials. We will see if Allergan keeps its promise to keep making the vials, as they will obviously increase profits with the multi use bottles."

For Dry Eye Disease "Copay just went up to $50 with no explanation. I can't keep using it for that much. The multidose vial has not been available at our Walgreens for almost a year so the discount card is useless since it says "only for multidose vial". scam?"

For Dry Eye Disease "I have been using Restasis for 2 years, the medicine is very effective. January 2019, I started using the multi dose bottle. The bottle is terrible, very hard to squeeze and unpredictable amount of medicine comes out after so much force applied! That is a waste of very expensive medicine! 10 days through the month, then the bottle stopped dispensing the medicine, even with extreme pressure applied. I took it to the pharmacy for replacement, they tried hard to dispense the medicine and that did not work! They said that they will contact the company to replace it. After 1 week, they said, the company will not replace it, and after so much squeezing, it works now!!!! Very disappointed. Will never renew this prescription for multi dose!!!!!"

For Dry Eye Disease "The drops work well for me, and I've been using them for year. But this new multidose vial is horrible and with my new insurance it cost me $400/month out of pocket, after a "big" savings coupon from restasis. And the one-month vial lasted me only 16 days! I plan to call the company and tell me they me 1.5 months of medication, since it's lasting half as long as they promise. Like everyone else has said, the vial is too hard to squeeze and at first too much comes out and then you can't a drop out. Just horrible -and at $1900 (before insurance) for what is supposed to be three months, but what is only 1.5 months, completely unacceptable. I suggest everyone here inundate the company with complaints."

For Dry Eye Disease "I have never been as frustrated trying to take medication as I have been with the Restasis Multidose bottle. What an incredibly poor design. Initially, the bottle works fine, but after a few uses, it take so long to disperse a drop that my hand cramps. So, I change hands, and the drop comes out and falls on my face and I have to start the process again. Because the medication is so expensive, and the only medication that affectively treats dry eye, the only way to afford it is by using the companies promotional card that gives you a big discount on the Multidose bottles. If didn't need this medication I would never purchase anything again from Allergan again."

For Dry Eye Disease "Restasis single use vials help my dry eyes. I’ve been using the single use vials for a few years now. They do tend to make my eyes burn about half the time, but they still help. My complaint and low rating is because of the multi dose bottles they’re switching to. The bottle is terrible. It takes forever to get a drop, which is extremely hard on dry eyes. Then, you don’t get just one drop. You get 2 or 3. Since they’re apparently conserving money, even one drop extra means you’ll run out of prescription before you should. This bottle needs a makeover. It also needs extra liquid. No one can get just one drop each time and make certain that one drop hits their eye as it should!"

For Dry Eye Disease "I have my first bottle of multi dose Restasis. The design of the bottle is awful. The drops don't come out one at a time. Usually I get two. Also the bottle is too soft so you have to squeeze it so much to get the Restasis out. Give me the vials any day. I hope the bottle can be redesigned soon, there is a lot of waste of prescription, and it is very costly. Very unhappy."

For Dry Eye Disease "The worst dispensing mechanism ever! At $500 for a tiny container, every drop counts. Instead of a well designed container that is able to allow drops to enter directly into the eye, this container has a flat end. At least 2-3 drops are lost during each administration of this product.."

For Dry Eye Disease "The good: Restasis works for me. I was forced by my insurance company to try the other dry eye RX which was approved a year or so ago. Forced meaning they stopped covering Restasis. I used the other one for 9 months. It was awful. I finally got my insurance to once again cover Restatis. Have been back on it and it is working again. The bad: The multi dose bottle does not last a full month. Either they need to put more medicine in it or fix the bottle. Sometimes it's a tiny drop that comes out and sometimes it's a huge drop. I will continue to use Restasis, but a fix on the multi dose bottle would be nice."

For Dry Eye Disease "Don’t buy the multi dose bottles. Major design flaws. You will never get a full 30 days out of it. I too called the company to complain about the design and how difficult it is to squeeze out this medication. They did nothing except take a lot number. I told them not to ever discontinue the little vials. They are easy and you will get your money’s worth out of them I hate their multi dose ridiculous bottles. Dump them. This drug is way too expensive for their new bottles to give you next to nothing out of them!!"

For Dry Eye Disease "A few years ago my doctor told me I needed Restasis. I really did not think I had dry eyes, as my eyes actually tear up...he said those are "Junk Tears." Never heard of such a thing but went with it. I used them for about 4 months and did not notice a change. He thought I would "see better" with them. Ha Ha. What happened towards the end of using them...my vision started to get blurry. It has gotten worse and to the point where I need to wear glasses all the time. I really think the Restasis did this. The doctor says I have the start of cataracts...really...again, I am saying it was the Restasis that did this and I am not happy. So, in my opinion, unless you really are having a dry eye issue that is causing a lot of problems, do not use this product or you may very well end up like me and have blurred vision."

For Dry Eye Disease "I just wanted to add my criticism of the multidose bottles! Ridiculous!!! My first bottle ($500+) lasted only 10 days. I thought I must be doing something wrong, so I tried again and managed to get a whopping 14 days worth of expensive drops out of that bottle. I used the single-use vials before and Restasis works well for me, but it's ridiculously expensive, especially when you get 10 days worth of medicine out of the bottle."
