Evoxac (cevimeline) for Sjogren's Syndrome "I have a dry mouth due to unknown cause and so started to take generic Evoxac 1 year ago. I take Evoxac 3x a day, and with xylitol mints make it through the day. There is a product called Xylimelts that attach to your teeth at night and slowly melt, they help a lot. You can use these in the day too. Xylitol generates saliva, Xylitol Gems are good too. My last dose of Evoxac is at night before bed. When I first started Evoxac, I would get some chills and sweat, but that stopped. Evoxac improves the longer you use it for the first 6 weeks, so give it a chance. My dry mouth is from an unknown cause as I have had no radiation, don't take prescription meds except this, and don't have Sjogrens. Try Colgate "Gel-Kam", which is a gel with .4% stannous fluoride. It will prevent cavities and also can get rid of teeth sensitivity. It is a big winner to keep your teeth and keep them from hurting if you have dry mouth. Avoid salty foods and alcohol as much as you can."

Evoxac (cevimeline) for Sjogren's Syndrome "First, I must say I have never written any online review for any product or service. I just don't have the time and I am not into social media. However, I read many reviews about evoxac and due to the feedback I got up the nerve to tried it. I hate taking any type of mediacaiton so it was a big deal for me. Exactly one hour after taking the first pill I had two episodes with lightheadedness. Went away after a second. That night I had a headache. I only took one 30mg tablet of Evoxac because my Dr. said to take as needed, up to 3 per day. The next day I took another tablet at the same time in the morning. No dizziness or headache. After about a week of just taking one tablet each day I noticed about one hour after I took it my mouth had saliva and I can swallow! This was a life saver for me. I've been taking it for one month and I still only take one per day. I also use Biotene mouth wash twice a day. I would recommend this drug to anyone with dry mouth due to sjogrens."

Evoxac (cevimeline) for Sjogren's Syndrome "I have had severe dry mouth now for about 2-3 years and told all my doctors who then told me to take Biotein and other mouth rinse. Never helped. Finally got Evoxac and it has really helped I no longer swallow food and fear that I will choke and something wont get stuck in my throat going down. My mouth went dry as a desert to wet, I sometimes drool, but I don't mind. I was miserable waking up every morning with a horrible taste and dental problems an so on. "

Evoxac (cevimeline) for Sjogren's Syndrome "I’m really glad Evoxac helped people here with Sjogren's. It has really improved my dry mouth and I can cry again. The problem is I have all the side effects they list and it’s really bad. I’m sweating constantly I’ve got headaches and chills I feel like I had the flu last week and I didn’t I’m just miserable and I can’t take it anymore so I’m gonna stop taking the medicine. I know the dry mouth is really bad but I can use other things for that. I’m gonna go see my rheumatologist and see if she’s got something else for me. Good luck to all of you and God bless"

Evoxac (cevimeline) for Sjogren's Syndrome "This saved my life. I am bipolar and take a dozen medicines, the dentist told me dry mouth like mine would cause permanent damage and tooth lose. I bugged and bugged doctors until they prescribed Evoxac. I went to my next dental check up and the dentist wanted the name of the drug. Sure sometimes I drool in my sleep but I think I will go to my grave with the choppers GOD gave me and I thank him every single day for the person who invented Evoxac."

Evoxac (cevimeline) for Sjogren's Syndrome "I just started to take Evoxac yesterday around lunch time. So I took 2 pills yesterday, and at night I cry these huge tears. So I know it's working. For the dry mouth, it takes one hour for it to work, it feel moist but not wet. At the end of the day, headache comes as a side effect. Overall it is good"

Evoxac (cevimeline) for Sjogren's Syndrome "While I was taking Evoxac I had severe body odor, and my genitals smelled like onion. I tried everything to clear it up, over several years and nothing helped. The day I stopped taking Evoxac, the condition cleared up immediately. For the last 10 days it has not returned. I'm grateful my new doctor refused to subscrjibe a refill for Evoxac when I requested it. She told me the side effect was fatigue and she asked me to try other ways to address my dry mouth. After I stopped taking it, I noticed the very next day, for the first time in years, my strange body odor was gone. I do not recommend this drug for anyone who cares about how they smell "down there.""

Evoxac (cevimeline) for Sjogren's Syndrome "I was getting cavities along my gum line as well as a nasty taste in my mouth. When I started taking Evoxac everything got better. No more cavities, no more nasty taste. I can swallow my food now without smearing it with mayonaise or other sauces. It wears off at the same time every day so I know what time it is and reach for another Evoxac. Of all the meds I take, I would never want to give this one up. I feel awful without it as when I have surgeries and they won't let me have it at the hospital. As soon as I am out the door, I grab my Evoxac and get relief."

Evoxac (cevimeline) for Sjogren's Syndrome "Evoxac was a lifesaver for me. I take seven different medications for the management of my bipolar disorder and they dry my mouth out terribly. My tongue would ache and feel like sandpaper. I brushed my teeth throughout the day and my breath felt foul, and I was afraid to speak much. My mother-in-law has Sjogren's and told me about Evoxac. My psychiatrist had never heard of it, but I talked him into prescribing the medication for the awful dry mouth side effects. Within one hour of taking my first dose, my mouth filled with saliva. It felt like a small miracle. You don't know what you miss until it is gone. This medication is a simple blessing for the people who need it! All psychiatrists should know about Evoxac. Anticholinergic side effects are too common of a side effect of psychiatric medications. Evoxac improved my quality of life greatly."

Evoxac (cevimeline) for Sjogren's Syndrome "I was in the last trials for Evoxac about 20 years ago. I had serious issues with dry eyes and dental decay when I had to wait for it to be approved. I have been on it since with no side effects and a minimal use of supplemental eye drops until this year. It has allowed me to retain significant moisture production in my eyes, mouth and lungs."

Evoxac (cevimeline) for Sjogren's Syndrome "Insane how well this Evoxac works for Sjogren's. Only taken it for a few days but I have spit! A ton of it. I love taking this before bed because for the first time in 3 months I haven't woken up in the middle of the night because of dry mouth. Some reviews made me hesitate for a little while but I'm glad I tried it. My doctor told me it has fewer side effects than pilocripine or at least that the side effects are less frequent. I honestly haven't noticed any yet. Maybe if I was outside on a hot day I'd sweat more but its not noticeable if you are just going about your day to day business."

For Sjogren's Syndrome "Within hours after my first two doses I suddenly realized that I had moisture in mouth, on my tongue and in my upper throat. What a glorious feeling! I actually started crying I was so happy to feel normal again! I haven't seen or felt any side effects--just the joy of not having to endure the parched and sticky mouth, tongue and throat anymore. I'm actually making a special thank-you card for my doctor who came up with the idea! I couldn't be happier. It's funny how I took things for granted ---like a comfortable, moist mouth---until I lost it. And what an incredible feeling it is to have it back again! Feeling grateful..."

Evoxac (cevimeline) for Sjogren's Syndrome "This medicine does help a bit. However, if you run hot, be aware you are going to be miserable at night and you will have hot flashes throughout the day. The side effects were just too much for me. It was embarrassing always sweating. I became self-conscious due to this medicine affecting my hygiene. It’s A Big NO for me."

For Sjogren's Syndrome "I'm on cevimeline and nowI have spit! My mouth was so dry and getting worse by the day. I honestly could not imagine how I was going to deal. My outlook seemed pretty grim. I tried pilocarpine and it made me sweat like crazy so I discontinued it. I was afraid to try this drug for the same reason, but boy am I glad I did! Within 20 minutes I had saliva. It's wonderful. No real side effects except a little flushing. Don't hesitate to try this drug."

Evoxac (cevimeline) for Sjogren's Syndrome "Before getting treatment for dry mouth, doctors ignored my complaining of the severity it. I also lost two teeth and went to an oral surgeon, he was astounded by the severity. He’d never had a patient with the such severity without being on chemotherapy and radiation. All my problems were due to dry mouth and saliva is number one in proper dental care.He said my dentist should’ve caught it long before now and my teeth could’ve been saved. All together, I’ve lost five teeth, due to dry mouth. This is so upsetting to me, it could and should have been prevented, if only the doctors had listened to me. I did get a prescription. Firstly, the brand name and then my insurance would only pay for the generic, Pilocarpine, which didn’t work. I started taking Evoxac, a miracle. Now my dry mouth is back after only an hour of taking the pill. It’s still Evoxac, but something has changed. I’ve just read the side effects and I have the nightmares, hair loss, weight gain, and carpal. Any help?"

Evoxac (cevimeline) for Sjogren's Syndrome "I also have taken Evoxac for years. I first asked my opthomologist to prescribe pilocarpine. He would not, telling me to see an ENT physcian for this, as he felt there were to many side effects for this type of drug. I did get a Rx for the pilocarpine and then switched to Evoxac. At first I could not perceive a benefit of this drug, but now I can tell when my dose (every eight hours) has worn off. Also, I do not think that I have suffered any side effects from this drug."

For Sjogren's Syndrome "I've suffered from severe dry mouth for 15 months now, following a Botox injection into my jaw muscles as an off-label treatment for bruxism that my Rheumatologist thinks triggered Sjogren's Syndrome. The week after the injection my mouth got drier and drier until I was barely producing any saliva. I spent months going from doctor to doctor in a desperate attempt to fix this. I finally found this page (thank goodness!) and asked my doctor if I could try Evoxac. He prescribed the generic version, Cervimeline. Within about 45 minutes of taking my first capsule my mouth suddenly filled with saliva. It was like a miracle! I now take Cervimeline (30MG) 4 X a day, and half a capsule if I wake up at night. (To make a 'half pill', I pull open the capsule and dump out half the powder, then put the capsule back together). It's been over a year now and I haven't had any side effects except mild sweating if I take a full capsule while in bed or wearing heavy clothing. Don't be afraid to try it!"

For Sjogren's Syndrome "Changed my life. My dry mouth was waking me up at night. Now, I sleep through the night. My eyes were flaked over, now they are probably 90% better. I feel a bit of nausea as a side effect, but not 10% of what would make me stop using it. I'm using the generic."

Evoxac (cevimeline) for Sjogren's Syndrome "Just started taking this medicine. I’ve taken it for almost a month. It definitely works very well for dry mouth and dry throat. I am taking Restasis for the dry eyes and that is working great. However, like one lady mentioned here, I have felt like I have had the flu for the last two weeks. So I was prescribed Tamiflu. That made it worse. Severe severe fatigue. I am not sleepy I am just tired all the time. I have back pain, upset stomach, headaches, body odor, shaking, nausea, vomiting, and Other bad side effects. I’m going to speak with my ENT about this tomorrow. I have an appointment to see a rheumatologist for the first time in February! Takes a long time here in Memphis to see a rheumatologist since we don’t have very many. So I need my EMT to figure out what I need to do for the next two months. This medicine definitely works for Sjögren’s syndrome, But the side effects are too severe for me to keep taking this medicine."

For Sjogren's Syndrome "I have been taking this medication for about 23 years. I don’t believe I can live without it. My only complaint is that sometimes when the meds are absorbed they cause sweating for about 10 minutes. Doesn’t happen always but I am careful to wear cotton usually. I also chew Xyloburst and Xylimelt gum which helps a lot. You need to drink to keep hydrated as well."

For Sjogren's Syndrome "I recently changed pharmacies and now used the one associated with my health insurance. The capsules Evoxac look the same as the ones I was getting from the other drug but it seems like these aren't working at all. My mouth is so dry it hurts just like it did before I started taking the drug. I'll be talking to my doctor after thanksgiving for help and will also talked to the new pharmacy. My question is do different mfg. companies used different medication or not as good as others especially since Evoxac is a powder form poured into the capsules."

Evoxac (cevimeline) for Sjogren's Syndrome "This medication is a lifesaver! I have experienced a couple of mild side effects (chills, mild stomach upset if I don't take it with food) but nothing severe enough to make me stop taking it. It helps tremendously with dry mouth and starts working about 30 - 45 minutes after taking it. It feels like it only lasts about 4 hours, however, so you might need to take it multiple times per day."

For Sjogren's Syndrome "I have severe Sjogrens. Extreme dry eyes and even worse dry mouth. I also take medications that cause dry mouth, Clonidine and sleep medication. I only took cevimeline for a month. Cevilemine does produce saliva, but even taking 1/2 of the lowest dose I just cannot take the side effects any more. Nausea, urinary pain, bloating, anxiety and it really didn’t help with my dry eyes. It made my gastroparesis flare up. I’m so glad it worked for so may of you."
