For Otitis Media "I have been given this for otitis media and upper respiratory infections. It is a good "kick start" but the full effect is only achieved after a three-day course of injections. It works but is quite painful, especially for pediatric patients."

For Gonococcal Infection, Uncomplicated "Found out I had Gonorrhea. Doctor prescribed this and antibiotic pills pills (doxy). The shot is NOT as painful as everyone says, especially if you take precautions: 1. Insist that the mix the shot with lidocaine, 2. Ice it when you get home, ice it before bed. I got it in the left arm and I was rock climbing the next day. Symptoms decreased significantly 6 hours after the shot."

For Intraabdominal Infection "I was placed on a 30-day course of Rocephin via I.V. infusion (PICC line) by my infectious diseases doctor to handle a persistent, recurring and resistant strain of E coli that had caused a very serious intestinal infection. The infection caused perforation and led to an emergency ileocecectomy, partial colectomy and resection of my sigmoid colon. Taking the Rocephin was easy - it came in small pre-pressurized "bulbs" that I attached to the PICC line once a day and then carried around with me in a pocket for 30-40 minutes while it administered the proper dosage. Rocephin worked wonderfully for me, with zero side effects. My white blood cell count fell back to normal levels within a week of starting the treatment, and I have been infection-free now for more than 90 days."

For Urinary Tract Infection "Fortunately I don’t get UTIs very often, but when I get them, they’re extremely severe. I will feel one coming on, and then within an hour or two I’m peeing blood, in severe pain, and going every few minutes. I was hit with one in the middle of the night four days ago and was left with no choice but to go to the ER. I was prescribed Macrobid which has always helped me in the past, but a couple days later I felt that I was getting even worse. I went back to the ER yesterday morning and they gave me an IV of Rocephin, and switched my at home antibiotics. It’s been almost 24 hours since my Rocephin dose and I feel AMAZING. It helped the pelvic pain within maybe 4-6 hours. I woke up this morning and it still burned to pee, but now that I’ve been up for a few hours, the burning is gone. I am so grateful for this miracle antibiotic. I finally feel like a human again."

For Pneumonia "My son was running high 102-104 fevers, took him to ER on Tuesday night. Chest x-ray confirmed upper left lung pneumonia. Was put on 2,000 mg of amoxicillin 2x per day. Was still running high fevers like before and went back to ER Thursday night with pneumonia that spread through the rest of his left lung. He received 2,000mg of rocephin by IV 1am Friday morning . 21 hours later he is still getting high fevers. This latest one being 103. I'm starting to think this antibiotic isn't working."

For Urinary Tract Infection "I suspected that I had a UTI before we left for a week in Florida with my three kids, their spouses, and my six grandsons. I was sick the entire time and ended up in the emergency room in Destin. They gave me IV Rocephin and a prescription for oral antibiotics to finish when I got back to the house. I won't say it started helping right away, but it did help cure my severe UTI. I haven't had any blaring side effects, and I don't know whether to attribute this to the medication or to my illness, but nothing tastes the same since I was sick. I'm nauseous, but not all the time, and again I can't attribute that to the medication because I was so nauseous during the course of the illness. I'm very grateful for it."

For Bacterial Infection "I received Rocephin for treatment of thyroiditis through i/v in a diluent 2 years back. Just after 3 to 4 min of i/v infusion, my body started getting warmth and severe itching on whole body along with sweating. The medication was immediately stopped however the feeling continued for next 10 to 15 min. I was giving antidote immediately to reduce the symptoms and was shifted to ICU for vitals observation. It was the worst experience of my life with any antibiotics. It didn't work for me. But everyone must also be careful if they are getting it for the first time."

For Bacterial Infection "Suffer with lower back pain so I did not notice the kidney infection forming. Went to the ER as Pain was increasing and moving to the flank right side. Turns out it was an acute right sided kidney infection with stone blockage as well as bladder involvement. This antibiotic was a serious life saver as the pain was becoming intolerable. With in 24 hours a marked improvement. For anyone with a reaction , it is related to penicillin and if you have a reaction to penicillin it’s not a medication you should have. Not a drug company issue but an individual issue. Each medication can affect each individual differently, no way to foresee an issue from the drug company but the treating physician should have warned if you have a penicillin reaction then this too will affect you. I was asked by the physician and went over allergies prior to injection. Fully informed on each medication I ever take. Highly recommend, the injection does have a real burn to it, worth the end result! Best of luck to all."

For Bronchitis "I was given this medicine after my Dr and discovered I pretty much had an absent immune system. I have been on several pill antibiotics and nothing was working anymore. I had this medicine by IV in a Dr office one time. My infection finally went away. I didn't have any reaction to this medicine."

For Bacterial Infection "Got this shot 4 1/2 hours ago. Let me tell you miracles exist! I was dying from a severe sore throat and my tonsils were so red and swollen. I couldn’t even swallow my own saliva. I had headaches so bad that I felt my head would explode. This shot is amazing. I can swallow again I can breathe with my mouth closed. Wow."

For Bone infection "Went to urgent care for a bad case of pharyngitis. Previously, I was on amoxicillin for ten days which seemed to help but the infection came back. The doctor ordered blood work and a gram of IV Rocephin. The Rocephin was pushed for 30 minutes and it hurt a bit going in. I was put on oral Axetil for another ten days. It’s been four days since the IV and the injection site is tender, and I have a huge red bruise that wraps around and extends to the elbow. The throat feels better — my arm, not so much."

For Bacterial Infection "My doctor prescribed this for tooth infection until I could get to the dentist. I have problems with my stomach and can't take oral antibiotics. I had 2 grams the first day then one gram for the next 4 days. It seems to be helping the infection but I started having pain between my shoulder blades and belching. I also had bloating and pain in my stomach. So same stomach issues as oral antibiotics."

For Urinary Tract Infection "Can not say enough about a shot of rocephin to kick start getting rid of an infection along with Cephdnir if you have had a urine culture to say it is susceptible to antibiotic. A common bacteria Kiseablaie infection, especially in older women such as my self that has had a total hysterectomy. One word of advice get a culture done. I have also had to have 3 shots for strep that kept coming back knocked it out finally after 6 months. No side affects."

For Urinary Tract Infection "I was given macrobid and cipro first for my UTI at urgent care. Both made me throw up even with zofran, so I went back. The doctor gave me this shot. I got it in my buttock and it didn't hurt at all. The liquid burned a little but I mean bitting my tongue hurts worse than that. Overall I'm super happy because my symptoms are gone a lot faster than with antibiotic pills, which always upset my stomach anyways. I will be asking for this for every UTI I get moving forward."

For Bacterial Infection "I 100% recommend this drug for anyone with an intense infection. I am currently on Flagyl due to a C. Diff infection and my doctor advised me not to take any antibiotics orally. Was diagnosed with a double ear infection and a chest infection after going in to urgent care for symptoms unrelated to C. Diff. Let them know everything and my care plan now involves using this injection to clear up my ear and chest infections through my muscles instead of digestive tract since I am still taking Flagyl. The injction stung a tad when injected but I hardly felt anything other than that due to my fear of rupture in my ear drum. Honestly I couldn't say how big the needle was because I was too focused on what was being said about the possible rupture. I have 2 more injections to do over the next two days and I am looking forward to them. This is a miracle. I already feel less pressure in my ears and its only been 6 hours. I expect this to be gone very soon! So pleased. No side effects to me at all."

For Urinary Tract Infection "I have a bowel infection and it went into my bladder. I had no UTI symptoms except the strange color on my water wipe. I'm always sick with something and thought it was just the flu. Not around anyone. Long story, but after ER anaphylactic reaction on a med that was helping, things got worse. So by the end of the week, it had started making me feel delirious. Heard that can happen with seniors. Being allergic to almost every antibiotic, the ER doctor wanted me to have something while waiting for the culture to result. So after IV fluids, I chose Rocephin. It was given IV and I was told to come back the next morning for another injection. The highly compassionate nurse did not want to cause me pain, so she mixed it with lidocaine to minimize the pain. The area was sore after the shot but not while I was getting it, and I have no muscle on me. She gave me an ice pack and the soreness was gone in 30 minutes. This is a miracle drug for me. I can't take the pill version. I was on my way to sepsis. It saved me."
