"I started smoking at age 9. Smoking alot by age 13. Started driving 18 wheeler at age 23. Four to five packs a day depending on whether I had to work 23 or 24 hours in a day. In Dec. Of 1999 I took Zyban for I think a month. From what I can remember , it made me a little nuts at times as well as violent. I understand it changes the addictive center in your brain but it changed my personality as well. The the second week I relapsed for one day and then none after that. Seventeen years and not one cigarette. Still wanted one once in awhile but never enough to light one up. I only wish I had done it sooner before my lungs went copd. Make no mistake, I would be long dead if I had not quit. (A coffee can full of phlegm a day)"

"Quit using Zyban over 29 years ago. Quitting with Zyban was the easiest thing to do. Tried to quit by ALL of the other methods without success. All I did was follow the directions faithfully and changed my routing for the first morning only. I never looked back or had those ghost cravings. I found I was able to have the occasional cigar without issue. TOTALLY recommend this method... Weaned myself off Zyban by just forgetting to take the meds more frequently as time went on."

"I took the 1st week and then the second week I forgot to take the 3rd morning dose. That evening as I got ready to take the evening dose, I realized I had no desire to smoke so I quit taking it. I've been smoke free for almost 12 years, this after smoking for 44 years at about a pack and a half daily. Best medicine ever."

"I find this medication very helpful. My first smoke tasted funny. My second time smoking I could only smoke half...the third time I lit it and threw it away. After that I was at a cookout and people around me were smoking yet I had no desire (craving) to smoke with them. It's been 3 weeks and I'm very pleased. I have not smoked since..started at 14 and ended at 46. What a relief!"

"Started taking 150mg (so just the one pill in the morning) 3 days ago and I am shocked!!!! I've had more energy, less anxiety (I have anxiety disorder and panic attacks normally), feel happier AND I don't feel like smoking much....... I go hours without a smoke, yet I used to smoke 30 cigarettes a day! I'm only on day 3! Tomorrow I am supposed to step up to 2 pills, and I assume I won't want a smoke at all. Brilliant pill. Wish I could stay on it, as I feel amazing!"

"I tried Zyban twice after smoking for about 20 years, a pack a day. The first time, I could feel my urge to smoke lessening, but after about a week on the medicine, one day I felt exhausted. I slept for 14 hours; the next day I woke up and felt so, so down and depressed. Since I had done my research prior to taking this, I knew what it was. I called a doctor, and stopped the medicine. A year later, I decided to try again. This time, I had no such thoughts. After about 5 days, I felt the urge to smoke going away, and on day 7, I lit one up, wondered why I was doing this, and put it out. Never looked back. I stayed on Zyban for about a year. That was two 1/2 years ago. No cravings. No cheating. Amazing."

"Given Zyban to help me stop smoking and it worked. I quit smoking, drinking tea and sodas too. To this day I do not want to smoke or drink tea or sodas. I didn't know that I would feel so good too. I didn't feel depressed anymore. I felt content with life. The only draw back I experienced was some dizziness."

"Zyban is a very strange feeling. I have been on it for three days and my urges are way down. I still fight triggers like coffee and post eating but even when I tried to smoke it tasted very strange and made me feel a little dizzy. Well see how the next couple of weeks go but I'm excited to quit! Only drawback is it is really hard to fall asleep."

"I was given Zyban to stop smoking. After three days I realized I had not smoked or wanted to in two days. It was that fast. I had no side effects that I remember and stopped taking them after two weeks. It's been close to 10 years now and I have absolutely no craving or desire to smoke. At the time I began Zyban I had smoked over a pack a day for about 14 yrs."

"After trying everything I could find and following 40+ years of smoking, my GP helped me and prescribed Zyban. Now 11 years later I am so grateful after all my unsuccessful attempts with every kind of cessation aid I could find."

"My partner took Zyban to help him quit smoking. Yes it did help him to stop BUT the side effects have been horrific. I WOULD NOT recommend anyone using this. For the past 5 and a half years he has suffered TERRIBLE mood swings, to the point that he frightens me and there has been a little violence (in the early days). He has had suicidal thoughts (and still does now occasionally). Our happy little family unit has almost been destroyed.......we are still together by the grace of God but for how much longer I don't know. I know his health has probably improved no end due to no longer smoking but his mental health has suffered greatly and sadly I don't know if things will ever improve."

"The first week I had some very brief agitation (day 4) that lasted for about 30 minutes. By the end of the first week, my cravings were nearly gone. I am down to only 1 to 3 uses per day, which is a major reduction for me. I plan to be completely done by day 20. No other side effects. Not feeling any nicotine withdrawal symptoms. I plan to use the Wellbutrin full strength for 1-2 weeks after quitting entirely and then begin the taper process. Amazing product."

"I am completely marvelled by what has happened thus far. Zyban for me is a wonder drug. Honestly, I tried Champix 4 times with no results. The time I was so determined to quit that I added patches as well and had a nicotine spray. Yeah, that's how much it did not work. Zyban has, by day 9, I was not smoking. I can't believe that I went without a smoke for 1 day let alone 7 weeks now. I am thrilled at the results. The first 2 weeks on Zyban were a little difficult to adjust, but I just persevered with the mild side effects and here I am to say yay, just yay. 10 out of 10. Recommend Zyban over Champix all day every day. I was a smoker for nearly 50 years. Thanks Zyban..."

"I took Zyban in 2001. The first 10 days was fine, but once I started taking 2 a day I went into anyphalactic shock and also had a seizure, which then landed me in the hospital. I was 20 yrs old and had no previous history of seizures. Also, once the hives went away, and the prednisone and Benadryl wore off from being in the hospital, I still had skin sensitivity and seriously bad joint pain for almost 2 weeks. I know this is rare but be careful. Now, just to be safe, I tell Dr’s and pharmacists that I’m allergic to Wellbutrin/ buproprion/ Zyban."

"I used zyban to quit smoking and after 2 weeks I no longer had the urge to smoke. I've been smoke free for over 23 years. I don't understand why it's not on the market to help people stop smoking. I smoked over 40 years and 2-3 packs a day"

"My daughter after two weeks of taking this "medicine" spent on January 3, 2020 a day and a half in the Emergency Room after collapsing at home in an epileptic seizure when she stopped breathing. I do not wish anyone to feel helpless when you hold your limp adult child in your hand, eyes wide, without signs of life, without any movement of the diaphragm, and without heart action when you think this is the end. I would also like to thank all the rescue services that were involved in her rescue at that moment, from the fire brigade to the rapid ambulance, I am sure that without their help and quick action it would not work well! It was necessary to stabilize the heart because the heart rate was extremely fast and critically high. The brain CT then revealed four consecutive seizures, which led the doctor to decide to entrust the daughter to the care of a neurologist in a larger city. Please take this message as a warning against this medicine Zyban and its offspring Wellbutrin."

"At first had lots of energy and my concentration was great. Got a weird metallic taste in my mouth after I smoked and started to lose the temptation. I slowly started becoming more aggressive and agitated and on about the 5th day. I had hallucinations freaked out and stopped taking it."

"Smoked for 22 years I was one of thise smokers who tried to quit lots but then resigned to the excuse that I loved to smoke. Just over a week ago I mentally decided that I was not a smoker. I started zyban on the second day I quit and smoked 2 that day, one the next, and half the next. That last half, I knew it was the last. As with these other stories I was addicted. Tried everything. Champix, patches, quit help lines and support etc so I was sceptical but determined. I really can not believe how well it has worked. I'm not grumpy, no cravings and no side effects as yet. I also take the gum with it but it's not a need just a back up. Can't recommend this enough."

"Do not take this drug. My husband took this to help with smoking cessation. During the entire time, he had bad dreams, but during the fifth week he dreamed he was jumping off a boat, jumped off the bed and crashed to the floor, fracturing his left shoulder and badly bruising his left hip. After four days of extensive testing in the hospital, the doctors concluded the "fall" was from Zyban. Terrible terrible pain and very scary."

"After trying many things, such as chewing gum, patches, hypnosis etc., to stop smoking, I took zyban in June 2000. Before the end of the course I had stopped craving cigarettes and became a non-smoker. It took 9 days and I had no side effects at all. It was the best thing I'd ever done."

"I found Zyban to be very effective and easy to use. I only experienced a few mild side effects (slight constipation, food tasted a bit different). But I'd tried quitting before using gum, microtabs, patches - and none of these worked for me. Thanks to Zyban, it's been over four months since I smoked a cigarette and haven't turned back - proud to be a non-smoker!"

"Okay, so I started taking this to assist me in quitting tobacco. You do have to WANT to quit but a lot of people have the effect where one day cigarettes taste like licking a dumpster. My brother quit overnight due to this effect alone. Now as for me I was hoping so bad that would happen it hasn't and I'm still smoking but I've cut back and now I realize this drug has made the nicking go away completely; now it is all habitual. My husband smokes so it's around.......he's going to quit next week. I went on a 7 hour airplane trip with my sleep deprived toddler. Absolutely no nicking; this drug is phenomenal in that way. I'm hoping the taste effect may still happen for me. I'm losing 6 lbs a week though. I do have GAD also."

"I will admit that the drug helps you quit. Unfortunately I probably slept only a couple of hours a night while I was taking the drug. It all came to a head when I had a seizure at work and fortunately my colleague found me under my desk convulsing and luckily I didn't choke myself with my tie. Scary times."

"I tried to quit on many occasions prior to using Zyban. My friend who smoked 2 packs a day quit using this drug which totally amazed me. I am a very cheap person and when a carton of generic cigarettes went up to $15.00 (which by todays prices is cheap, but not then) I swore I had wasted enough money harming my lungs. I started Zyban and set my quit date for 2 weeks. On the last day before that date, I was sitting around and realized I had not had a cigarette all day, and I haven't had one since. That was 19 years ago. I would highly recommend Zyban to quit smoking now before any more damage is done to your lungs. The cost of the medicine is no more than the cost of a carton of cigarettes for a month."
