"Been on Wellbutrin for ~6 weeks for Depression/Anxiety/ADHD/PTSD . Was initially on 125MG & didn't feel like I was taking anything. Increased to 150MG & first day of the higher dose, things got bad. Side effects: panic, listlessness, wanted to cry, life was awful. But it was the same the first day with the lower dose too. The next day my mother instigated something & instead of my normal reaction, I completely blew up - threw & broke stuff. I'm in college, was living with her. Not anymore :( Also had another random hair-trigger temper explosion yesterday. Can't tell now if I once again feel like I'm not even on any meds bc the Wellbutrin isn't doing anything for me, or if I'm so stressed about being ostensibly homeless (couch surfing but it won't last) that no medication will help me right now. I'm googling what it's supposed to feel like bc I'm still waiting to wake up with enough energy to take a shower & enough focus to stick to a schedule- but it may have destabilized my mood enough to cost me my home."

"My doctor switched me from celexa to Wellbutrin for my anxiety but I also experience not being able to focus so much while I'm at school. I'm hoping this medication helps me overall. I'm waiting for my shipment to come in. Reading that it's helped a lot of you guys on here makes me feel much better about taking it, I was a little nervous."

"I'm a 40-something mom and was just recently diagnosed with executive function issues. My doctor thought this might help me with focus issues. I had to stop taking after 2 douse. I felt light headed and like I wanted to jump out of my skin. When I stopped, I felt exhausted and got a major headache. I'm glad the medication works for some but it definitely didn't work for me."

"My doc and I decided to put me on Wellbutrin 150xl as I was seriously depressed. Losing my dad really did a number on me. Anyway the first 3 weeks were not pleasant as I simply could not sleep despite how many sleeping pills I’d take. However week 2 my appetite came back and I started to be a bit more active. I thought it would keep improving but it didn’t. However, 8-9 weeks in I wake up one day and couldn’t believe it and was so scared this feeling wouldn’t last, but I finally felt “normal” just myself , the crazy thoughts went away, I’m back in the gym, riding my bike. I pretty much got my life back just as I was ready to give up. Oh so I’ve been on adderall for over 20 years and absolutely don't like it for different reasons. And getting off is not easy. Anyone going through the same, when the Wellbutrin kicked in, I started taking less ADD meds. Only to realize I was able to drop it cold turkey. This med literally saved my life and got me off pharma coke ."

"bupropion worked for depression but made ADHD 100% worse. My attention span was shorter and I constantly had 3+ songs or other random stuff playing in my head all at once. Absolutely messed up my semester,"

"I have been on this twice, once for 8 months a couple of years ago, and again now. I stopped taking it the first time due to my doctor going on holiday so I ran out of my medication and couldn't get a refill, and then because of my ADHD, I struggled to get to the doctor again. I am a heavy smoker, and ironically, this drug didn't help me quit at all. I wish it did, but it didn't. However, it helped me massively with my depression and ADHD symptoms. Without this drug, my brain is always racing and chaotic, but taking bupropion 300mg SR makes my head quiet, relaxed, and peaceful. I am able to concentrate on the things I need to do. Life is much, much easier. My libido goes up. I feel even-keeled and am able to function like a normal adult. I stop having bad anxiety. No bad side effects for me. The only thing is, if you are also autistic like me, it can make your autism more obvious as it makes masking even harder to do. I recommend this very much for ADHD and depression."

"I have been taking Wellbutrin 150mg XL for only 2 weeks now and I already feel the difference for my ADHD! I used to be on it for the same reason and always got the same positive effects. I decided to get back on it because of my severe anxiety, depression, and ADHD caused by my ADHD, and let me tell you, it works just as well as Adderall, which I used to be on for years, without the harmful effects on the body. I decided to stop the amphetamines and stimulants and to get on this Wellbutrin XL and I am focused, motivated, productive, happier, motivated, and I only expect things to get better. Wellbutrin has been a lifesaver!"

"I got diagnosed with ADHD very early in life. They had me an Adderall. I stopped taking It around age 18. Now that I'm 21 and the ADHD is still prevalent I went to get help. They started me on Welbutrin to hell curb the depression and maybe help with the ADHD. I think my depression is cause by the ADHD. Not depression is cause ADHD. The welbutrin hasn't done to much for the ADHD side, but has helped with mood. I'd give a higher rating if this was depression."

Wellbutrin XL (bupropion) "Wellbutrin has helped the anxiety and depression associated with my ADD. After quitting smoking my Adderall quit being effective. Rather than upping my dose of my stimulant medication, I opted for "nicotine replacement therapy." I am so glad I did. This is the most effective thing I have ever tried. In the past I have tried Zoloft and Effexor."

"Almost 30 and this is the first time I sought help for ADD. It has truly been a scourge in my life. Been on bupropion over 3 weeks. 300 mg per day. I don't have depression and am taking this for ADD. Nothing has changed for me other than urinating more."

Wellbutrin XL (bupropion) "I'M bipolar and ADHD. I took Tegretol and Effexor for 8 years. It worked for me but it was a death embrace. Cognitive functions related to attention willpower judgement declined. Read about lithiums neuroprotective properties and switched, which is working out for me. I added Wellbutrin 300 XL for the ADHD 3 weeks ago and so far it has increased my depression, it might be settling down though, I seem to be getting better. This has to work. These are bad days. Wish I had taken Lithium 10 years ago it has also helped with the ADHD."

"After coming off amitriptyline for my pain problems I went through a really bad time (corona virus, developed fibromyalgia and depression and panic attacks) and was afraid to take any medication as it seemed everything had adverse effects. I couldn't even take amitriptyline without having a panic attack. The Drs decided my actual issue was ADD last week and put me on this med. Along with Xanax which I had already been taking for the panic attacks. Boy, was this a bad idea. It was like the worst bad trip ever where I didn't know who I was anymore, had a huge panic attack and could hardly speak or think. Scared my mum because I got all grey and my eyes were just dead. And that's from one pill. Took me a few days to calm down and took more xanax and oxazepam to counter the overwhelming panic. Worst medication I've ever taken. It fertile I had the memories of someone else and this was not my life. Scared of taking any antidepressants ever again."

"I can not recommend this medication. While some may have found improvement while using it, all I have experienced is crippling migraines whenever I do the most simple of mental tasks. Even sometimes when not thinking at all. Headaches plague me daily ever since starting this drug, and only get worse when trying to use my brain. This is very counterproductive for someone with ADD. I was prescribed this to help focus, and all it has done is make me exponentially more irritable and bring me intense head and eye pain when trying to study or read anything. Lesser symptoms include some annoying random nausea, gas, bloating, and a total halting of my regular menstrual cycle. (Already checked, no I'm not pregnant. I sure thought I was though.) Bupropion sort of made me feel like I had a small improvement to my overall outlook on life, but I'm thinking this had more to do with my brand new employment shortly after starting the medication, not the drug."

"Well I started Wellbutrin about a week ago and ever since I been on it I cannot sleep passed 6 hours. My doctor prescribed me bupropion hcl XL tab every morning. I take it around 7am and I’m not going to down talk the medication. It does give me the energy I need and definitely has changed my moods. I also got prescribed .5mg clonazepam she told me to take both twice at night before sleep but in still not getting the sleep I want. I’m just getting aggravated now and am about to stop the meds help?"

"My new doctor switched my medication from Ritalin to Bupropion without really giving me a reason. While this medication has helped with my depression somewhat, I do not believe it can or ever will be able to deal with all of it as I feel the depression is due to my current job/living situation and is NOT related to a chemical imbalance. Before I lost my good job and had to move back in with my controlling parents, I was happy. This medication is not helping me with my ADHD - inattentive type issues. Specifically time blindness, executive functioning, and inattention. In college I was diagnosed with severe ADHD - inattentive type and Ritalin made a huge difference in my life. Hope to get back on that medication and take Bupropion only when I am really feeling down."

"I have been taking bupropion for two months (month two my dosage was doubled) for ADHD symptoms and have not felt ANYTHING. The first few days, both upon starting the medicine and when upping my dose, I noticed some increased anxiety (no apparent cause, just general anxiety and feeling it in my stomach) and what I call a lower 'frustration threshold,' as well as maybe a slightly decreased appetite. After those first few days I feel literally nothing, not even a change in mood. Luckily I'm being referred for a formal ADHD assessment so hopefully I will be put on an actual FDA approved ADHD medication, but until then I've been put on the sustained release version with another upped dosage. I've read a bunch of reviews on bupropion for treatment of ADHD and I've concluded that it is really hit or miss, and for me it's a major miss. If you have an option with your doctor I would probably recommend trying out another medication first and using this as a last resort."

"I've just started and yes while I do feel something I have yet to make a full decision on if it works. My issue is focus, hard to focus on life in general , can't pay attention long enough to learn which really hurts at work. I was taking Naboline and Marijuana which helped perfectly. For whatever reason my dr wants me to try something else . My questions is if something g works why put me on something that might work ? But I'm willing to try. The first three days I have felt similar effects but not to the extent that the other drugs help. I feel a bit more irritated with people , my hearing is more sensitive and my appetite is gone."

"I started Wellbutrin for Adult ADHD that I decided to tackle. I wanted to try to fight the symptoms with a non-stimulant rather than just jumping straight into stimulants and this was the med my Dr decided on. I was on this for about a month and noticed some change with my attentiveness but not much. The negative side effects I had were the reason why I had to stop taking this drug. I had some irritability problems beforehand but this amplified them and made the spouts unpredictable, anything could set me off in any moment in any mood and I mean pretty intense bouts of irritation. It also brought along suicidal ideation which I had never experienced before using this med. Overall it changed my mental health and in a very negative manner so I had to stop taking it."

"I initially got put on this medication for anxiety and ADHD after taking Concerta (that did wonders) for my adhd. Focus has gone no where. My anxiety got slightly better but I also just transferred to a hbcu and quit my job so these things could have easily contributed to me being less anxious. Hyperactivity continues to give me racing thoughts and shaking my leg in class. After taking this medication for a week side effects never lessoned. I’ve experienced lightheaded and extreme nausea. I felt the effects after taking the first pill and i can’t explain it any other way than it made me feel very weird. This feeling keeps occurring after taking it and I’ve only become more irrational and frustrated that I feel like I’m being used as a science experiment and not actually getting what works best for me and my body."

"Help! I’ve been on bupropion xl 150mg once daily for about a week and I’M MISERABLE. The first couple of days I was spacey and out of it, constant headache, having panic attacks so bad that I called out of work. The panic attacks have subsided but now I’m having fits of rage. I have a 5 year old and I’ve gotten so angry with him this weekend. I’ve raised my voice with him too many times to count this weekend. And I’ve even caught myself before yelling and screamed with my mouth closes like a toddler having a temper tantrum. I can’t hold it back. My doc wants me to wait another week at least but I feel like for the sake of my family I NEED to stop taking this medication."

"I was prescribed Wellbutrin for my ADHD/Depression combo about 5 months ago. I started on 150 XR and couldn't sleep for more than 2 hours a night for 2 weeks. I was irritable and exhausted. Dr switched me to 100 mg SR for about a month and a half and it didn't help with anything really. I slept more but I actually gained weight and felt like I couldn't get out of bed or do anything. Dr then started me on 200 mg SR. 2 weeks into it I started crying hysterically randomly and my depression got to the point where I didn't want to exist anymore. I pushed everyone away, I wanted to be alone.. I quit my job. I stopped being able to function and then the ideations got a lot worse. It may work for you, but if you feel worse just get off of it. It is incredibly scary to feel this way."

"I used this with Cymbalta. I wanted to see if it would help my focus. Before I took it, I was feeling pretty good . After I took the maximum dosage which caused constipation for weeks and got terribly depressed and angry. I got off the entire dosage and felt nicer and less depressed in a few days ! This medicine made me into a monster"

Budeprion XL (bupropion) "I have been taking Wellbutrin for 8 plus years. Then went to SR, then XL. Helped with my ADHD with Adderall too. Went off for about a year and started back. To save money went to generic 150mg XL - they were great. When Dr. suggested increasing back to 300mg daily (as previously) I agreed. I started taking the 300mg XL generics - the symptoms returned. I noticed when I opened the bottle there as a noxious odor given off. After 4 weeks couldn't stand the smell and returned the rest of the pills to my pharmacy. They replaced them and said they would look into the problem. The 150 mg SR generics stink too. Only the 150mg XL generics don't."

Wellbutrin (bupropion) "I have ADHD as well as epilepsy. I have taken just about everything for ADHD, and with my siezure history I have no clue as to why this was prescribed to me. (Actually it was new, I got samples.) Mildly stimulating, but in the wrong part of the brain for ADHD. I had seizures and got off it when I found out it caused seizures in people who aren't epileptic."
