Abilify (aripiprazole) for Depression: Something just "cliked" after I started taking this medication. I’ve suffered depression my whole adulthood and nothing seemed to do much of anything. Less than I week taking Abilify I wanted to be active; I'm happier, and more outgoing. So far no noticeable weight gain.

Abilify (aripiprazole) for Depression: I became less withdrawn, happier, and there was no weight gain. Some insomnia at first, but that cleared up after the first week.

Abilify (aripiprazole) for Depression: This drug has DRASTICALLY improved my life. I hope it keeps working! I battled depression and anxiety for 15 years tried dozens of drugs, no drugs, diets, therapy, you name it. I even self medicated with alcohol for a short while. Recently my depression and anxiety got so bad I gained 30 pounds, couldn't get out of bed and was suicidal. On Abilify I feel normal, a feeling I haven't had in a long time. I'm motivated to make the most of my day, the crying spells and suicidal ideation has stopped, and I sleep like a baby. I had just about given up on medication thinking they may be the route of my increased depression but Abilify has been a life saver! No negative side effects for me!

Abilify (aripiprazole) for Depression: I was withdrawn since my last psychotic break and this medication seems to be what fixed that. There was no weight gain. There was some trouble sleeping for the first two weeks. Over all I'd say this is the best antipsychotic I have tried.

Abilify (aripiprazole) for Bipolar Disorder: I started this medicine not too long ago and love it. I have been on many other medicines over the years without good results. The one thing I would like to say to others who have written comments here is, do not say you would not recommend this to someone because it doesn't work for you. That is the reason there are different medications, and just because it doesn't work for you, it is ridiculous for you to say you wouldn't recommend others take it.

Abilify (aripiprazole) for Depression: Over the years I have taken a number of different drugs and combinations of drugs for depression. By far the worst side effects I have ever experienced were associated with Abilify. The muscles in my legs became so stiff that walking anywhere was slow and painful. I felt nauseous all the time and several times experienced acid reflux. There was the constant feeling of needing to move and involuntary jerks of arms and legs. Sometimes my legs would shake uncontrollably. It took a while for these side effects to subside after coming off the drug. It's really good to see that this drug has helped so many people but it's not for me!

Abilify (aripiprazole) for Depression: I really think this drug has been a life saver. But be careful with the dosing-sometimes less is more. I currently take 2.5 mg and that is enough to pop me out of the depression. At 5 mg I was very "flat," anxious, and my joints ached. Everyone is different, but this drug can be very helpful.

Abilify (aripiprazole) for Depression: I have had resistant depression for about 3 years. Started Abilify 2mg two months ago and feel like a new person. I can get out of bed in the morning and go to work. I have a desire to do things again with friends. Don't spend the weekends in bed anymore! I am so thankful--this has helped me tremendously.

Abilify (aripiprazole) for Depression: At a tiny 1 mg dose this drug was wonderful for about a month. Instead of having a crazy sleep-till-noon schedule, I started to wake up in the morning on my own. I wasn't as tired, and I got a lot of things done. Which alone helped my depression. I was also able to start exercising and eating right without crazy cravings - so I lost about 10 lbs.
The doctor increased me to 2.5mg/day and things really went downhill. I can only sleep for 4-6 hours at a time, so I have to nap twice during the day and as soon as I take the medicines I'm so tired I'm basically incapable of driving. I'm cutting back down by half today hoping it was a dosing issues.

Abilify (aripiprazole) for Depression: I developed Tardive Dyskinesia and Dystonia after having taken Abilify (for too long apparently). It has made my life far more difficult. I am posting this because I just want to make people more aware that this happens so it doesn't happen to them if they can avoid it.

Abilify (aripiprazole) for Agitated State: My 25 year old son was prescribed this medication for his aggressive behavior and inablity to concentrate. As a child he was diagnosed with ADHD with aggressive behavior. His behavior only worsened as he got older and was not on any medication. He was unable to keep a job and was always in trouble with the police for fighting and just unable make good decisions. After starting Abilify he has had a steady job for 6 months and his agressive behavior is gone. I have my son back.

Abilify (aripiprazole) for Bipolar Disorder: I've been prescribed abilify for bipolar. So far there are 3 problems after 5 days now. The biggest one is insomnia[I'm writing this at 2:00 a.m.]. The second is a tingling feeling in the back of my skull that travels from ear to ear. Third is dizziness when making or seeing others make sudden movements, but this is subsiding slowly.

Abilify (aripiprazole) for Depression: I have suffered from major depression since Junior High School. In the last 4 or so years all anti-depressants stopped working for me. I am in my 40's. Abilify has helped me tremendously. The only side effect I seem to have is bad headaches but I guess the price is worth it as I am starting to have a life again.

Abilify (aripiprazole) for Bipolar Disorder: My son was aggressive and was doing poorly in school. Hitting other students and the teachers, having meltdowns practically everyday. A week after he started taking Abilify his teacher called and told me he was like a different child. He was focusing and not getting upset so easily. I was just told he is the star student for the month and that has NEVER happened. He is now potentially looking at joining the general population at school. So far this has been a life saver and now my child can focus on learning and thriving instead of giving up and having fits when he gets frustrated.

Abilify (aripiprazole) for Depression: I am only 17, but after having suffered moderate to severe depression and after trying several different medications, I began taking Abilify. It has worked extremely well and I have only had one "meltdown" since. I am very happy with it and have not noticed any side effects.

Abilify (aripiprazole) for Depression: This medicine was prescribed to me as an add on with Zoloft. It did help my depression and anxiety... unfortunately I went from 118-122 lbs to 167 lbs.... and I didn't even weigh myself at my heaviest. I thought my thyroid was crapping out on me so I got that tested and it came back fine and then my Dr. was like.... one of the side effects of Abilify is weight gain. One of my friends who took it also gained a lot of weight as well... not to say if affects everyone this way but if you started taking it and are gaining weight like crazy with no end in site please talk to your doctor.

Abilify (aripiprazole) for Bipolar Disorder: This is a good antipsychotic and does well for bipolar disorder. I was on 20mg per day when I suffered a severe manic episode, so it is possible to have episodes while on the medication, but I should point out that I was not taking it every day as I was supposed to.
The only side effects I get from this are restlessness, anxiety and slight tremors.

Abilify (aripiprazole) for Depression: This medication has made a great difference in my life. I have suffered from a very resistant form of depression and Abilify has helped. I take it at night and it helps me sleep. To avoid the weight gain I make sure I don't eat anything after I've taken it and am ready for bed.

Abilify (aripiprazole) for Bipolar Disorder: Abilify has been useful to me in terms of sleep and improving my insomnia, but I still have to be treated with a mood stabilizer, like Lithium, in order to keep my bipolar episodes under control. The good news is that it did not cause (I was at 10MG daily) weight gain like Zyprexa. Good luck to all of you!

Abilify (aripiprazole) for Bipolar Disorder: I am bipolar and have swung into a massive depressive cycle, crying for no reason, sleeping 14 or more hours a day, feeling hopeless about my life, suicidal thoughts, etc., so my doctor put me back on Abilify (I had been on it before but it had been such a long time I couldn't remember if it helped or not). In just a few days, at 5mg at night, my mood is very improved. I can actually get out of bed, I'm much more upbeat, much more pleasant to be around. The only side-effect I have is when I take it, about half an hour later, I am soaked in sweat. My shirt actually becomes saturated to the point I have to change into a dry one. That's why it got 9.
