Eliquis (apixaban) for Prevention of Thromboembolism in Atrial Fibrillation "I was on this med for eleven days and stopped. I'm incredibly healthy with only a blood clotting disorder and a history of several DVTs. I had doctors push for me to take this medication even though I protested. I even had one threaten to fire me as a patient, so I left and found a new doctor. This new doctor also pushed Eliquis! I really do think they are getting paid to prescribe it. I am experiencing dizziness and being out of breath often. Last night I even forgot how to turn on my phone. I'm only 45 years old. I'm refusing to take this med. Never, ever again. I'm returning to high-dose aspirin. Forgetting how to turn on my phone was the nail in the coffin. I'm glad I found this website. Good to know I'm not alone. This med is not worth it! Only eleven days and I'm gone."

Eliquis (apixaban) for Prevention of Thromboembolism in Atrial Fibrillation "After a routine internist visit and then an EKG, I was diagnosed with Afib but with low pulse, therefore, I have no major symptoms of Afib--maybe a sometimes pounding heart. Saw two cardiologists and was placed on Eliquis. Since then I have major joint pain, very difficult climbing steps, and also dizziness, very fatigued, a bit itchy. All in all the joint pain was unreal and I took myself off of the 2.5 mg twice a day that I was taking (even though my prescription was 5 mg twice a day). Eliquis has lactose in it and I am lactose intolerant so I immediately noticed a problem and that is why I cut my pills in half to give me a 2.5 mg pill. That did solve the lactose problem with the joint issues were not solved until I got off of the medication. I was on it for maybe 2 months so I am unsure how expensive it was ultimately going to run because I was given a free month and then a reduced rate month and I am 72 years old."

Eliquis (apixaban) for Prevention of Thromboembolism in Atrial Fibrillation "My mom had triple coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG) with occassional afib which happened little over three months ago. So was put on Eliquis She has been hospitalized twice since then and was not progressing in her recovery. She had rectal bleeding and bright red to pink urine along with water retention and problems breathing. Heart was checking out completely fine, doctors were at a loss. Finally my daughter and I got ahold of lab results to discover she was anemic. Doctors missed the lab results!! Stopped the Eliquis January 24th, hospital gave her 2 units of blood and now she’s like a whole new person. Feeling better, rectal bleeding stopped after 2 days off eliquis, lost 25 lbs in water! She’ll be going on Coumadin. Sorry we’ll take the extra blood work and watching what foods she eats over this rubbish any day! Nightmare "

Eliquis (apixaban) for Prevention of Thromboembolism in Atrial Fibrillation "Symptoms of joint pain, fatigue, and burning skin came on gradually until it felt as if I had the flu with burning skin. Symptoms started to resolve within two days of discontinuing this drug. You couldn’t pay me to take it again."

Eliquis (apixaban) for Pulmonary Embolism "Was placed on Eliquis after a small PE. The clot was dissolved within three weeks, so while I’m grateful the Eliquis did it’s job, I begged my doctor to take me off it and got switched to Warfarin. Eliquis just made me feel lifeless. I all day fatigue and weakness, feeling spacey and zoned out to the degree that it was very challenging to work at times, dizziness, heart palpitations, spells where I felt on the verge of passing out, difficulty swallowing, random weird pains in my eyes, ears, and extremities, back spasms and constant back pain, water weight gain and uncomfortable bloating and swelling, swollen feet and ankles, nausea, GI distress, stomach pains, and diarrhea, and rectal bleeding. Also had liver tests come back with abnormalities while on the med. These symptoms caused my doctor to refer me to several trips to the ER."

Eliquis (apixaban) for Prevention of Thromboembolism in Atrial Fibrillation "I was prescribed Eliquis after getting a pacemaker, and then the troubles began. Rapid water retention of 50 pounds occurred the first year. Then gout, a kidney stone and finally I could not walk 15 feet without holding on to something or sitting down. Then sleep was another problem, 3 or 4 hours a night, with stiff and painful mornings followed. My life changed from very active to almost an invalid. Doctors treated me, tested me, they all claimed nothing was wrong with me, all vitals were within normal guidelines. This is my current state and has been for over 2 years."

Eliquis (apixaban) for Prevention of Thromboembolism in Atrial Fibrillation "I was diagnosed with afibs about 6 years ago. Given flecinide and told to take 2 low dose aspirin. Recently the doctor told me aspirin was not sufficient to prevent a stroke. He prescribed eliquis 5mg twice a day. I have been suffering with headaches. They feel like pressure on the top of my head. In addition ,I am very tired and I don't feel as though I think as clearly. I will be seeing the doctor next week. I hope he takes me off this medication. I honestly do not feel well. I am 72 years of age."

Eliquis (apixaban) for Prevention of Thromboembolism in Atrial Fibrillation "One cannot expect no reaction to this med. The “drug” is a biologic specifically made to be an antibody to the coagulation factor Xa. As many patients noted, evidence of complement activation and subsequent “leaky membrane” is apparent. At least one patient is prescient (predictive) enough to state these products should be taken off the market"

Eliquis (apixaban) for Deep Vein Thrombosis "Had leg pain, told my Primary Care Doctor. She had the hospital take an ultrasound and they admitted me to the hospital immediately. Said I had a DVT. On heparin while in the hospital, no side effects to mention. Started Eliquis as soon as I got home. Feel like I am dead. Weak, dizzy, can't stand, off balance, my body hurts all over like I was someone's punching bag. Wicked tremors, itchy skin feeling. Head feels like it's full of cotton, hard time concentrating. And this has only been for one week!"

Eliquis (apixaban) for Pulmonary Embolism "I had a PE late November, since taking eliquis I am having shortness of breath and racing heart ( at times in the 120s - 130s) I can't decide if I have something else going on or if it could be from the medication. My Dr. is looking for other causes and I'm trying to figure out if it could be something as simple as the eliquis causing this. HELP!!!"

Eliquis (apixaban) for Prevention of Thromboembolism in Atrial Fibrillation "I can't tell how effective Eliquis was as I was only able to take it. for three days before stopping. Gave me terrible stomach and intestinal issues. Also headache, blurry vision, weakness. Doc switched me to Xarelto which gave me worse side effects. Now on Coumadin as a last resort and having stomach issues from that as well. My doctor is understanding but I am preparing for an ablation and so need to be on a blood thinner for 1 month before and 1 month after. I am so sensitive to all meds and hoping I can tough it out."

Eliquis (apixaban) for Prevention of Thromboembolism in Atrial Fibrillation "After successful cardioversion I started Eliquis, 5mg twice a day. I've been on Eliquis for 2 years. I have not had any episodes of a-fib in that time. I've always noticed an uneasy feeling after taking it. My appetite increases with this feeling. I believe I need drug treatment for my a-fib and Eliquis works.......but my hair has thinned sooo much. I would say 50%. I also have nosebleeds every month or so. This product WORKS but the hair loss actually makes me cry!!"

Eliquis (apixaban) for Prevention of Thromboembolism in Atrial Fibrillation "I am 84. After two atrial fibrillation incidents that were two years apart, my Dr. prescribed Eliquix; one 5mg pill once a day. After ingesting the first pill at 8:00 am, by 11:00 am I was dizzy and just felt lousy. I emailed my doctor, suggesting that I take only half a pill a day. She agreed. After two weeks of feeling lousy, I awoke one morning with my right eye severely reddened and the right side of my head throbbing. It was a weekend, so I went to Urgent Care; they did and echo cardiogram, which showed I was pretty OK. Before I went home, I told the Doctor that I would never again take Eliquis. She didn't like that. But I went back on my old Metformin/aspirin regime and after six months I am OK."

Eliquis (apixaban) for Prevention of Thromboembolism in Atrial Fibrillation "I was having dizziness shortly after taking the pill. I kept taking it for almost a month when I had a fainting spell and decided I had to stop it. My doctor agreed that I should. I am an 80 year old woman just recently diagnosed with AF. I am back on 81mg aspirin. I am not diabetic or have any other maladies. I'm glad for those who it works for, I'm just not one of them."

Eliquis (apixaban) for Pulmonary Embolism "I have been on Eliquis 5 months for a saddle pulmonary Embolism in November, unable to breath, chest pressure, exhaustion and was treated finally by Eliquis. However after three and a half months I have been loosing hair at a rapid rate. Feeling better however the hair loss and swollen legs and insomnia are extremely disheartening and scary. I hope I will get my hair back after treatment and legs will not swell any longer. Hoping someone else has the same experience and can offer me consolation. thank you"

Eliquis (apixaban) for Pulmonary Embolism "Had PE events twice due to a factor 9 blood clotting disorder at age 47. Was put on Coumadin for 3 years. Regular INR checks are painful and costly. Dr switched me to Eliquis and I've been on it for 3 years. I am male, exercise regularly, in good health other than the blood disorder. Honestly, I can't tell any side effects at all..other than not having anymore PE's!!"

My right foot near the ankles and toes have been terribly swollen. and very sensitive. I put it in ice to keep the swelling down. Secondly, I usually have a normal bowel movement 3 to 5 times a day but on Eliquis I have been constipated for 2 days now ! Will take prune juice or ask help from pharmacist and get off this medicine."

Eliquis (apixaban) for Deep Vein Thrombosis "Update from a previous comment. Switched from Xeralto to Eliquis about 12 months ago. Horrific side effects as with Xeralto. I had days where I can't remember simple basic things, difficulty remembering family members, names. Am dizzy, nauseous, osteoarthritis, joint pain, ears ringing, complete loss of vision. Penile bleeding. Strange pimples. Horrific lack of energy. Chest pains and fluttering heart, feels like a heart attack. WEIGHT GAIN... I went from 150-165 average to becoming a 210. But adding weight plus the inability to exercise and strengthen the body.. any mishapped fall or jump or avoidance of sudden movement and you can be SEVERELY INJURED. As I lay here with a back injury also related to NEUROPATHY from eliquis."

Eliquis (apixaban) for Prevention of Thromboembolism in Atrial Fibrillation "I was on Eliquis from 11/2019- 7/2020. In the Spring of 7/2020 started having dizziness until I went to ER and found out I was having TIA’s. I was taken off that med. It didn’t work for me and there is no blood draws to prove it is even working. Now I am on baby aspirin and Coumadin which is working. There should be some lab for that. I am still healing and just waiting for my right eye to heal."

Eliquis (apixaban) for Deep Vein Thrombosis "Wanted to add my review because this drug started a month of unnecessary doctor appointments, ER visits, and just plain mysterious symptoms. No doctor told me it was eliquis and that it was "safe" to take but it was too late. I already developed side effects that lasted over a month. Shortness of breath, chest pains, headaches, numbness, and weird feeling in my right and left sides and I wasn't even on this medication long (about a week 5mg x2). I can't imagine what it's doing to other folks who may or may not be sensitive to medications like this. I would suggest starting ANY meds on the lowest dose to check for tolerance first and go up from there. Do not make the same mistake as I did. I no longer trust my doctor who prescribed me this. Still suffering from weird symptoms even stopping for a month now. Eliquis is very dangerous for those who can't tolerate it. I was rather healthy before this."
