Prevpac (amoxicillin / clarithromycin / lansoprazole) "I don't normally share my experiences or leave reviews on anything, but I thought I'd share in regards to the Prevpac because I'm living through a nightmare. The worst thing is the bad taste in my mouth. I know it sounds like a very small side effect, but imagine the taste in your mouth after vomiting bile and times that by 100. There's also the drip taste in the back of my throat. I feel like I'm constantly holding puke back. I'm on day 3, and I'm very tired and feel extra weak. I've tried eating crackers, but no such luck in helping me out. I did, however, buy a lot of hard candy and gum, which helps a lot. I wake up every hour or two during the night to chew gum or suck on a candy. These drugs are no joke. I wish everyone luck."

Prevpac (amoxicillin / clarithromycin / lansoprazole) "I have had stomach problems for the past 6 years and was prescribed medications such as Nexium, Zantac, and Protonix, however, I saw no results. 2 weeks ago, I went to emergency for extreme stomach pain and vomiting. I was diagnosed with H. pylori and given the 14-day treatment Prevpac. The first couple of days, I had symptoms such as a metal taste in my mouth and feeling fatigued. On day 7, I started getting minor headaches. I am pleased to say I am on day 14 and just finished the pack, and I am feeling great. Make sure to drink lots of fluids and eat healthy during the treatment."

"I began my treatment of H. pylori 3 days ago. I was prescribed amoxicillin 2,000 mg per day, clarithromycin 1,000 mg per day, and pantoprazole 80 mg per day. Like everyone else, I find the metallic taste the worst. It keeps me up at night, so I am lacking sleep. I have the bloating, and the diarrhea started today, although it's not too bad. I am concerned that my doctor didn't prescribe lansoprazole but gave me the pantoprazole instead, it seems my other medication dosages are quite high. I take 10 pills a day. I do better with less food in my stomach. I am using an excellent protein supplement drink with added yogurt and fruit. I replace one meal a day with that. I sip on almond milk throughout the day. I am edgy and emotional and have retreated to my room to avoid annoyances beyond my door. I am trying to stay positive, knowing that I will probably feel so much better when this is all over. While I take to my bed, I visualize the antibiotics killing off these nasty little beasts. That helps too. Good luck, everyone."

Prevpac (amoxicillin / clarithromycin / lansoprazole) "So, started off pretty confident. No problems here, what's the big deal? Day 7, projectile vomiting for 24 hours, followed by fatigue, my bits felt on fire, couldn't get out of bed, couldn't work, no appetite, should have gone to the ER for IV fluids. Finished the last dose the night before, nurse said the cure often feels worse than the bug (but the bug can increase the risk of stomach cancer). I hope H. Pylori is gone because I'm really not sure I can do it again. Of course, everyone's experiences are different, wishing you all the best."

"I am on day 10 of medication, and I can identify my symptoms to most of you, but I can say that they were worse in the first 6-8 days. Metallic taste in my mouth, nausea, diarrhea (almost black stool), bloating, and lots of burping and reflux. It's interesting how doctors noticed I had H. pylori. I started with a weird shortness of breath (which is still there), but I have done so many tests, and they all came back normal: ECG, stress test, chest X-ray, heart and lungs ultrasound, abdominal ultrasound, barium meal (upper GI series), and several blood tests. They were all normal. The only problem found was H. pylori. I hope I can finish the treatment and start feeling better ASAP."

"I was a bit shocked when I picked up my prescription to see what is in a Prevpac, it was amoxicillin, clarithromycin, lansoprazole all neatly packed in blisters. I called the specialist and asked for confirmation that I had the right stuff. To my chagrin, the answer was 'yes'! It had to be taken for 14 long days. How I had to take it was one lansoprazole 30 mg, two amoxicillin 500 mg, and one clarithromycin 500 mg, and I had to do that twice a day. The next day after starting the regimen, I felt fine. I scorned myself for being apprehensive. On the 2nd day, the dreaded aftertaste started and is still here, accompanied by lightheadedness, like being on a bender but without the fun. 9 very long days to go. But if after all the pills, I never get a repeat of what caused the problem in the first place, it will be well worth the misery. I am in the old age category, so if the reader is also, I hope this paragraph helps to make the experience a little less lonely!"

"I'm now on day 3 of my triple antibiotic treatment amoxicillin/clarithromycin/lansoprazole for H. Pylori. I was first diagnosed with H Pylori infection 6 months ago but I refused treatment because I was asymptomatic. Once the symptoms kicked in, I decided to be brave and take the treatment. I've had the nasty taste in my mouth, and a short bout of diarrhea. The worst part for me is the fatigue. I can barely keep my eyes open! I also have very little appetite. I try take tons of probiotics (kefir, yogurt and kimchi) all day in between my pills and they are helping a lot. I'm bloated and exhausted but I feel positive that I'll make it through the regimen. Good luck everyone!"

Prevpac (amoxicillin / clarithromycin / lansoprazole) "I am a 31-year-old female. I was given Prevpac to get rid of H. pylori, which was the underlying cause of my chronic gastritis and terrible pain and discomfort in my chest from reflux and inflammation. I just completed the 14-day Prevpac kit. This treatment definitely works, and I feel 100% better now that it's over. It takes time for it to fully kick in, though. I started feeling relief at day 5 and felt 100% better at day 10. To me, my experience wasn't as bad as some of the reviews I read prior to starting the medication. Based on suggestions I read, I took a daily probiotic, which helped a lot with the side effects, so I recommend that. The one constant symptom was the metallic taste in my mouth, especially when first waking up. But all I had to do was drink something, and it went away. I had diarrhea a couple of times, but nothing extreme. A few stomach aches/cramps as well. At the very end, I developed a little yeast infection (which can happen when taking antibiotics), but I easily got rid of it with over-the-counter meds. The side effects are very bearable. Overall, the most annoying thing for me was having to take so many pills at once and in one day and also the cost. After my insurance paid their part, I paid $75, which to me is a lot. But the packaging said before insurance it was about $750."

Prevpac (amoxicillin / clarithromycin / lansoprazole) "I was prescribed this meds my first time I got sick back in 2015, I was so sick that time I think I missed several doses. After that I have been sick with gastritis, acid reflux, Weakness, not able to digest my food. Just 4 years with those symptoms. Now 2020, they tested again and it’s still there and was prescribed kind the same but not exactly Prepac, individual antibiotics which are the same thing at the end. Day 10 now and I can eat food ok and feeling bit better. I hope this helps someone because this bacteria is hard to treat and it comes back a lot."

Prevpac (amoxicillin / clarithromycin / lansoprazole) "I'm currently on day 11 of Prevpac. I was very nervous about taking it after reading horror stories online. The first day I was very nauseous after taking it in the morning. That afternoon I purchased some probiotics, and they have been a huge help! My only side effect is a bad taste in my mouth, but chewing gum helps with that! I feel great now, but I'm excited to be done with the meds in three days. I've been having stomach issues for three years with no definite answer until finally a doctor tested me for H. Pylori, and it came back positive. Prevpac really isn't that bad. I highly recommend taking probiotics, though!"

"Well, let me begin by saying I never experienced heartburn or had symptoms prior to the endoscopy that found the H. Pylori, so to be perfectly honest, the treatment has been a bit brutal. The metallic taste in my mouth is so bad if I actually do sleep, it wakes me and I am extremely nauseated. Diarrhea also. Fatigue, a definite. A lot of burping now, and now I seem to be actually experiencing heartburn. The one positive I will say is I noticed the bloating I have had for several years, which honestly I thought was my stomach, is going down significantly. Also, yogurt is your friend, I find it helps with the metallic taste. I have a few more days to go, so I hope it’s worth it! Hang in there, there’s light at the end of the tunnel."

"I was very dubious and anxious about taking this cocktail of tablets. I always tell myself not to read reviews, but I always end up reading anyway. I've read a lot of horror stories, from allergic reactions to not being able to get out of bed. However, I've had no major side effects from this treatment. The only side effect I had was a metallic taste in the mouth. I suggest getting a pack of Polos, as it really helps. I have two days left of taking these antibiotics, and I feel completely normal. I've not had loose stools or any stomach cramps. I've not been fatigued either, the only thing is a lot of gas, but it's not been crippling like others have experienced. I suggest drinking a lot of water to flush the system and eating before taking the medication. I urge people not to feel worried about completing treatment or stop because they've read a bad review, because I can say that I'd rather have a bit of metallic taste and gas than go through the pain I was in with Helicobacter pylori."

Prevpac (amoxicillin / clarithromycin / lansoprazole) "I am on triple therapy for 14 days, second time in 2 years. I'm 5th day in. First 3 were brutal. I couldn't even dress myself, was too weak. My insides feel tender, but I'm not as tired, I can work and sleep. My question is: I have that metallic taste, and now my tongue is light grey. Anyone experience this?"

Prevpac (amoxicillin / clarithromycin / lansoprazole) "I was positive for H. Pylori. I was nervous to start this 14-day therapy of medicines, but I toughened up and went for it. I am on my second day of Prevpac. I have some symptoms. The first day I took it, about 2 hours after, I felt tired, along with a metallic taste in my mouth. I ate right after I took it and drank plenty of water. The taste went away fairly quickly in the morning, however, in the evening, I got the same symptoms, but the metallic taste was worse. I just kept drinking water. This morning, I woke up with loose stools. Also, for some reason, I have been having an increased appetite. I guess it's a good thing considering I haven't been eating. I am a 27-year-old. I will keep you updated."

Prevpac (amoxicillin / clarithromycin / lansoprazole) "Not too bad, this is my second time taking the medication. The first time I was given lansoprazole, amoxicillin, and metronidazole, which I had major side effects from, and after reading horror story reviews, I stopped at day 5 of 7. Later found out it was the metronidazole that caused my horrible side effects. Now I'm on the course again, but instead of metronidazole, I was prescribed clarithromycin, which is so much better! Apart from the occasional nausea and metallic/bitter taste, I've had no other side effects, and it's helped increase my appetite. I'm on day 4 of 7 now and have high hopes for this drug. Will update after I finish the treatment."

Prevpac (amoxicillin / clarithromycin / lansoprazole) "I'm usually very regular, so when I started experiencing stomach discomfort-bloating, constipation, lots of gas-I headed straight to my doctor. I did indeed have H. pylori and was given the Prevpac 14-day treatment. After reading what seemed like pages of negative reviews and side effects, I was hesitant to start the regimen and made a deal with myself that if it didn't work out for me, I'd go toward a more holistic route. I'm on Day 13, and overall I had a positive experience. The first few days I was fatigued, and that eventually went away. I did get a bad taste in my mouth after an hour of taking the medicine. I'm regular again and feel much better. I also took probiotics and cut out sugar, dairy, and gluten, which I think helped as well."

"I tested positive for the h. Pylori and presented with blood in stool samples... upper left quadrant pain. Never had symptoms of heart burn or reflux prior to being diagnosed. I was on a 7 day treatment and I received 96% of the side effects. Migraine that wouldn't go away throughout the whole course, dizziness, muscle aches and bone/joint pain, heart palpitations, burning pains throughout my abdomain, nausea, diarrhoea, itchy skin, blubbly itchy rash in one small patch, pins and needles in my right hand, horrid chemically metallic taste in my mouth, loss of appetite, brain fog, confusion, weight loss, fever, chills and sweats. It's almost been a week since finishing the treatment. My body still hurts especially my legs, it feels as though there's no blood flow to them, blood the stool and the ulcer is still causing pain. Can't go through that treatment again."

"Hang in there everyone on this triple treatment for H pylori. I just finished my 14th & last day yesterday it was a horrible experience! I gained 3.2 lbs the 1st week & I was eating my usual weight watchers healthy food the only thing was I had no energy to exercise & had a few extra fruits! I still have that horrible taste in my mouth & still have pain even though I'm done the meds ugh! After my weight watchers weigh-in today I couldn't stop eating even though I had lost 1.9 lbs of the Weight I gained last week I couldn't stop eating just wanted to make the taste go away! I now have to wait 1 month before doing the breath test to see if it's gone & I pray for everyone including myself that we never ever have to do this horrible treatment again "

Prevpac (amoxicillin / clarithromycin / lansoprazole) "Reading these reviews, and at least, good to know I'm not the only one who has struggled with H. Pylori. Saw multiple doctors...all brushed it off. Was finally scheduled for an upper endoscopy. Prior to the appt, felt the worst ever. Symptoms over months had progressed from stomach pain and acid reflux (managed with 40 mg Prilosec twice a day) to fatigue, burping, chest pains, liver and spleen pain, feeling confused and delirious, diarrhea. Finally, a walk-in clinic doctor ordered a stool sample test. I'm on day 3 of Prevpac and feeling better. Metallic taste in the AM but goes away. Loading up on probiotics...highly recommended. Definitely need to take with food. I'll have to retest in about a month, but hoping this works! Best of luck to everyone!!!"

Prevpac (amoxicillin / clarithromycin / lansoprazole) "I'm on my fourth day of using the Prevpac for H. pylori infection, which was discovered during a medical procedure (colonoscopy and endoscopy). I was experiencing stomach discomfort (throbbing alternating aches from left to right), which prompted me to have these procedures. Day one: I felt tired and experienced severe stomach pain, including bloating, but it (stomach pain) eventually subsided. Day two: minor stomach pain and little bloating. Day three: I did not experience any pain, but I had the metallic taste and felt fatigued. I have noticed that my bowels are larger (sorry for the extra information) than normal. Details to take into consideration: female and a minority."

Prevpac (amoxicillin / clarithromycin / lansoprazole) "I took the prevpak many years ago after suffering with sharp abdominal pain, cramping, nausea, severe heartburn and probably other symptoms I can't remember. I had no issues with the medication whatsoever. I encourage those of you who are reading negative comments to put your health first as allowing this infection to persist can lead to conditions much worse than simply having a bacteria in your stomach. If you should get any symptoms with the medications, rest assured you are probably already having them now! You will feel back to normal again after a few days. I have read some comments where some have stated they have other issues with their backs, neck etc etc. From a medical and professional standpoint, these symptoms are not related. I recommend you eat some yogurt with the treatment throughout the course to help with symptoms if you are more sensitive to medications."

Prevpac (amoxicillin / clarithromycin / lansoprazole) "I took this pack, and after the 2nd day on the meds, I felt I was going to die. I tried to relax myself and have faith it would work. After the 4th day, I started feeling better, and every day after that. I finished the meds, and now I am 2 weeks since finishing the pack. I have not felt this great in years. I urge you all who are taking it or considering taking it to let the meds run their course. Yes, there are side effects, but as for my part, I felt those side effects outweigh the pain I had been having for years. Now I can eat whatever I want, and I have not gotten sick. By the way, doctors here in the USA could not diagnose this infection. I live next to the border of Mexico, so I sought treatment there, and within one day, he gave the results and treatment. It's the same treatment from Mexico and the USA."
