Nesina (alogliptin) for Diabetes, Type 2 "This drug attacked my eyes hours after the first dose. I had extremely blurry vision the entire three days I took it and then when I stopped, blood vessels burst and my eyes felt like they had sand in them for two days. United Healthcare forced me to take it because they don't want to pay for Januvia, which worked well for me."

Nesina (alogliptin) for Diabetes, Type 2 "I started taking this medication about 9 months ago and my blood sugar came down considerably which is a good sign and so far it is not showing any side effects. This medication is not cheap but it is getting more and more expensive every day. In last 9 months they have raised their prices 3 times.Today I finally decided to quit taking it because I can't afford it no more.My insurance is partially covering it but my portion is big too. I don't know if I can find any sub for this med, if not then God bless me!"

For Diabetes, Type 2 "I was prescribed Alogliptin as a replacement for Jardiance when my insurance wouldn’t pay for it. I am also on Metformin to control blood sugar. Alogliptin only controlled my glucose moderately. There were some adverse side effects. This medicine made my vision blurry. It felt like I had some kind of mucus in my eyes. Alogliptin made me feel tired. Not enough energy to even go for my walks. Alogliptin also made me incredibly hungry! I was supposed to be losing weight, not eating myself into a stupor! As a result, my weight went back up. All of the weight that Jardiance helped me to lose, along with diet and exercise, was lost while taking Alogliptin. The other issue was my pharmacy not being able to keep Alogliptin in stock. Lastly, they just couldn’t seem to get the drug and refused to do anything about it! I have been without this medication for a month now. Blood sugar is climbing again. Waiting to get a doctor appointment."

For Diabetes, Type 2 "I have taken the combination of 12.5 mg/ Alogliptin/ 1000 mg Metformin for approximately two weeks. Only the last few days have I notice some nausea within an hour of taking this pill. Hopefully, the nausea will stop after my body gets used to it."

For Diabetes, Type 2 "Good for blood sugar, bad for energy. I've tried this medication twice, and both times it caused fatigue so bad I could barely move. The brain fog that came with this fatigue was so bad that my school performance started suffering. My blood sugar went down from about 220 to about 110, but then started creeping back up to 140 because I could not exercise at all. Still an improvement. It also reduced my appetite to the point where it was very hard to eat anything - I could feel food coming up my esophagus hours after I ate it, but I only threw up once. I'll fall back on this medication for emergencies - this time it was pre-surgery and I really needed my blood sugar in a healthy range. But I can't stay on it long-term, and I really need my life back."
