The oxycodon is stronger to me... yet, Drs. Like to bring the dose down, just to bring them back up... ppl think everyone is jokee,and not n real pain

Ok so percocet has tylonol in it and oxycodone does not. Vicodin is another type of pain medication, but is less strong then the other two. If I was to choose one it would definally be the oxycodone because it won't eat at your liver because no tylonol in it and taken for a longer period, that one is the best way to go. I am sorry but got to correct u even though this is an old answer and question but oxycodone does have tylenol in it. Almost all narcotics are cut w a certain amount of tylenol. Been taking Oxycodone for close to 4yrs and if u read info from pharmacist when u get ur script filled it will tell u that it has tylenol. As far as it causing liver problems that is true thats why the FDA is pushing for long term narcotics to either have less or no tylenol in the cut.

Sorry meant to add that there really is no difference except oxycodone is the generic form for Percocet and is what most insurance companies will pay for. Usually the cut is different when it comes to difference between generic and the real thing so depending on the cut a real Percocet is probalby a little stronger and works better and longer, but insurance companies are not willing to pay a little extra for the people who really need it. But then suppose we can put the blame squarely on all the pill abusers who make it hard for those who really need it!!!

Sorry Poppie, but Nancynic is correct and you have it wrong. The active ingredient in Percocet is oxycodone along with acetaminophen. Oxycodone IR (instant release) or as they call it roxicodone does not contain acetamenaphin. The other drug mentioned somewhere on this subject, OxyContin, is oxycodone ER (extended release) also with no acetamenaphin.

ok, there must be doxycycline and Percocet WITHOUT Tylenol I am hep c positive, and my pain management doc is putting me on.that next month to keep me off Tylenol product.

Oxycodon does have tylenol in it. And most people do not know this but high doses of Tylenol can destroy your liver.I know this is an old post but taking that amount of oxycodone you are well on your way to a liver transplant. I'm not trying to be mean you need to check your tylenol levels. This post scares me

Actually there's such a thing as oxicodone without Tylenol so that is incorrect. I've been on it for 2 years under pain management. It's actually called Roxicodone and Oxicodone is the generic for it. It DOES NOT contain Tylenol. They prescribe it for long term usage so the Tylenol won't hurt your liver. Percocet is oxicodone mixed with Tylenol. And oxicodone is stronger because it's straight not mixed. Hope this helps.

Also doxycycline is an antibiotic and Oxicontin is the Extended release of Oxicdone which I'm on as well. It does not have Tylenol in it at all. You can probably even look them both up (Roxicodone & Oxicontin) and see this is true. Please don't go off these comments and contact a pharmacist. That would be your best bet.

I take oxycodone 10mg and it has NO tylonol in it... im on it for long term pain managment so my liver does not get harmed in the long run...

The generic for Roxy cosine is actually Oxycodone hydrochloride.. The hydro chloride is added to let you know this version has no Tylenol in it. If it is oxycodine then it has tylenol!

Percocet=oxycodone w/ acetaminophen (Tylenol's)
Percodan=Oxy w/ aspirin
Roxicet=liquid Percocet (in USA)
Oxycodone=Oycodone
oxycontin=extended release oxycodone
(The way u can tell if there's something else (tylenol or aspirin) in it is the label if it has a slash "5/325" it means 5mg of oxy & 325 tylenol).

This I an old question, but let's get this straight.
Oxycodone is the active ingredient in Percocet, and each tablet contains acetaminophen 325 mg.
Oxycodone HCI, a derivative of Oxycodone, is the active ingredient of OxyContin. OxyContin is just Oxycodone HCI and does NOT contain Tylenol or aspirin. It is usually given in coated, timed release capsules and the popular dose is 20mg. Also, Percocet comes in different strengths, and the standard is 5/325. It is also available in 7.5/325 and 10/325. Nine times out of ten, the 5/325 is prescribed.
10 mg oxycodone HCl (OxyContin) is equivalent to 8.9637 mg of oxycodone.
Basically, a 20mg tablet is the equivalent of taking three Percocets.
Percocet is not meant to be taken long term; however, for those in chronic pain, OxyContin is the best for them.
Percocet is also considered an analgesic and anti pyretic (fever reducer) and is very beneficial after surgery for pain and fever that may arise due to infection.
Vicodin is totally different. It is a synthetic morphine derivative.

Most people that do abuse it were prescribed the medicine prior do to some type of pain causing accident or surgery. That is how they become an abuser.
