Cardizem LA (diltiazem hydrochloride) is a prescription medication used to treat high blood pressure (hypertension) and certain types of chest pain (angina). Cardizem LA comes in tablet form. It is taken by mouth once a day. The tablets are extended-release and should not be broken, chewed, or crushed. Be sure to swallow them whole.
