Hi everyone! I'm Kay and I'm brand new here! I started suboxone (6mg/day) on June 1st and went off of it for 2 days and then started back on suboxone. I went off of it because it makes me sweat like crazy. Am I the only one? I was on oral pill form methadone when I first started pain management years ago and it did the same thing. Thanks!

I have been on Suboxone for several years and I have extreme heat intolerance and excess sweating. I literally did not have to use deodorant until well I’m to my 30s as I never perspired at all! I mean it is seriously affecting my quality of life! When I start to do housework, even if it’s 60 degrees I’m the house I get extremely hot and start sweating and I can’t cool down! It has me out of my mind! Ready to head for the bridge! I need help/answers! I have cut my dose and haven’t noticed any change.
I have been on Subutex for years and am just discovering that my sweating and heat intolerance may be due to Subutex. I am ready to get off of this med. I cannot do anything without sweating and the heat intolerance is awful, so much that it affects my daily life. I can't do things with my family because of the heat-the summers are equally as bad because I am usually in a bad mood due to the heat. I am starting today and going to do my best to get off of this. I want my life back!
I have noticed the exact same thing! It’s super embarrassing when I’m at work and my face is sweating profusely. I will be freezing while sweating simultaneously. I just recently cut my dose in half so I’m hoping that changes. Sorry I have no advice.
I'm on generic Subutex for pain control. It helps a lot. I don't feel like it is but if I stop taking it I get pain I didn't know I have. I'm on it since 2005 and I still sweat profusely and often feel cold while I'm sweating. I actually hate this stuff but the pain I feel without it is worse.
I've been on sub for almost 2 months now started on 6mg and now down to 4mg. I am sweating profusely. At night on with the blanket off with blanket it's horrible. I mentioned it to the Dr. And she said no one else complained about what I was experiencing. Thank goodness for this site. I don't know what to do bc it not only is disgusting physically it seems to effect me mentally as well . It's driving me crazy.
I get the exact same thing happening to me. It’s Really bad this summer to where i get grouchy and just drives me nuts. I change shirts twice a day. Carry a sweat towel all day. Be glad to get off of it.
I am getting ready to start Suboxone in two weeks and have been trying to find everything I can about this. I do not have a drug addiction I am switching to it for pain management for my low back pain. Did this side affect go away? and are you still on it? and if you are, is it helping with your pain?
Hi FRod - Many people say it doesn't help with chronic pain, but I do think it helps a bit. However, if you can help it, I wouldn't go on Suboxone. Eventually, it seems we will all have to come off for some reason or another, and although it can be done quite successfully, very slowly, I can't imagine going through that, if I hadn't already been addicted to an opiate for pain relief. Maybe others will help with comments. Why don't you start your own thread/question for people to answer this specifically, as many may not see this late post and give you a response? It will help to have lots of feedback. Good luck! J.
Hi! I was on pain medications for years & years resulting from a major car accident that nearly left me paralyzed. With a major major back surgery, rehab, & 2 yrs relearning to walk again. I was a very dark time in my life. That was in 2005. Now, I am no longer on pills but tsk a Suboxane film 2-4mg per day more if needed which is hardly never. The films helped me through withdrawals & control my back pain. I do not have as many side effects but do sweat majorly 24/7 even working in a cooler!!! It’s bad. I have to take an extra change of clothing with me to wk. reason I keep doing it is for less side effects and pain control. There has been times I thought why the heck am I continuing but then remember it could be worse. Hope this helps.
I am now on suboxone. I was on 200 mgs per day of OXycotin. have not taken an oxycotin in 9 weeks. I just started the Suboxone last week, well from a Dr anyway. I was taking some during my withdrwals from the OXys during the 8 weeks. I have always taken what was prescribed to me, for many years and stopped the Oxys on my own. My life was just not the same. I was not upbeat like I use to be. I had 4 surgeries last year and they kept increasing the amount of Oxycotin to take each month. I was wondering since your post was almost 3 weeks ago, how you were doing on it? I plan on taking the 2mgs per day for 2 months then go one a tapering program and get off completely. The withdrawals from the OXys lasted until I took the suboxone. So many times i wanted to just die. I admit to be worried about the suboxone but I could not take another day of the symptoms I was experiencing. I hope for all of us we beat this addiction. Oh, I too sweat, at night when I TRY to sleep.
But leave the A/C on. Thank you in advance if you have time to let me know how it is going with the suboxone.
Most sincerely
Coby
Hi Kay,
Sweating is a known side-effect of Suboxone and will usually dissapate once you stabilize at a dose. It's another reason to dose at the SAME TIME every day to keep your levels on an even keel.
Opiates are also well-known to dehydrate so drink lots of fluids.
Hope this helps.
Hi Kay!
I, too have had serious, drenching sweat while I slept while on Suboxone and Pristiq. When I cut out the Pristiq and started tapering the suboxone, I now don't sweat near the amount as I used to. Truly though, Pristiq has that side effect also, and i think it was more the pristiq than the suboxone.
