Spironolactone - When should I take this medication? early in the morning or just before bedtime?

Hello, I've been on spironolactone for about 30 years. My doctor told me to take it only twice a week. I have A-Fib and congestive heart failure. I take my tablet at night. I go to the bathroom right before bed and I usually don't wake up to pee. It seems to take some time to work on me. If I take my tablet in the morning, then by early evening I'm always running to the bathroom.

Spironolactone is a mild diuretic. Furosemide / torsemide are stronger. Expect spironolactone to awaken you once every night. Furosemide or torsemide will keep you up all night. If your Doctor's instructions allow you to take this during the day, it will be worn off by bedtime. A 25mg dose is a small dose. Take it at breakfast. You will be fine. If you were prescribed one of the strong diuretics listed above, take them at breakfast and save the Aldactazide for dinner.
