I took 2 capsules of Tylenol PM about 3 hours ago to help me fall asleep (I've used Tylenol PM quite a few times before). However, I switched body washes earlier this evening and I'm having an allergic reaction to it (itchy rash). My question is, how long do I have to wait until I can take Benadryl to clear up the rash? I don't want to overdoes on diphenhydramine as that is what's in the Tylenol Pm. Any help is appreciated!

You need to wait at least 4 hours between doses. Each Tylenol PM contains 25mg diphenhydramine which is the same amount in an OTC Benendryl. If the Tylenol PM is not helping the itch, the Benedryl wont either. They are basically the same thing except Tylenol PM, of course, has the acetaminophen.

Dzoobaby is right if the tylenol p.m. doesn't help (since it contains the same ingredient then Benadryl won't take care of the problem. if it continues then a doctor should be contacted best wishes, caringsonbj (sorry its taken so long to get back to you but with this happening if it ever does then once you have tried the other then you need to notify a doctor
Tylenol PM or even the generic has acetamiophen & bendryl 25mg. It makes a difference if you take regular or extra strength PM ( 250mg. or 500 mg.) as far as the acetaminophen. My doctor has me take 3-25mg of benadryl to help for sleeping (& it helps with some of my allergic rhinitis, running nose ,eyes, etc... ) . He also has me take 50 mg. one hour before dye x-rays, & 50mg after the dye xrays, so I not sure how to answer you! Maybe you need to check with your doctor! At any rate, it will make you pretty sleepy, should you decide on your own to take more benadryl. Don't take any more PMs with the tylenol for the benadryl tho'! Like the others said, you can buy benadryl (diphenhydramine HCI.25 mg)You may be able (addressing the sleeping problem) to just take benadryl. If you have a "Dollar General " store close by, they sell them 100 in a bottle for $4. Skip the tylenol for your livers sake; but back to your original question I personally would check with your doc! Let us know how it's going!
I forgot, take a shower again with your usual soap or scrub with plain water to get the new stuff off! If you have Sarna for itching, you can rub it all over you & it's really soothing. Have someone run to the drug store & get myou some while you re-shower!
