Default Increased sweating

I have tried various antidepressants, including Wellbutrin, Effexor, Celexa and I am presently on Cymbalta (which I find works better than all of the others). Every one of the antidepressants cause me to sweat -- I'm not talking perspire, but sweat dripping off my face and hair and drenching my clothes. Does anyone know if this side effect will dissipate or am I condemned to be a "hot box" as long as I take them?

I have the same problem. I would love to find a solution to it. It is so embarrasing. I can't keep my hair dry....forger about the blow dryer. I would love to hear from someone who has a solution.

I had the exact same side effect when I went on Wellbutrin. I was so hot and sweaty, sweating in places I never had before, I thought I was gong through menopause. But the med was working great for my depression so I stuck it out and about 1 yrs later it finally stopped.

I have a male friend how just started Wellbutrin 4 weeks ago and the same thing happened to him. He is sweating and very hot all the time. The sweat just pours off his bald head and face and he has to wipe his head and face in the bathroom all day long. It is annoying and embarassing. But, the Wellbutrin is working very well for him too, so he is going to try to stick it out and hope it stops sooner than later.

I tried all the SSRI's and was on two of the for 5 yrs and one for 10 and I never had that side effect with any of them. You just never know until you try them.

Default Sweating caused by antidepressants

I may have found a solution.

I've been taking Celexa for about a year now and have had to get up in the middle of the night, on many nights, to change out of my sweat-soaked night shirt. Minimal amounts of exertion cause profuse sweating as well. Other antidepressants I have taken in the past have caused excessive sweating as well but Celexa is the worse in this regard. In most other respects, though, it seems to be the best for treating my depression.

Fellow sweat sufferers should read the following articles on Terazosin and Cyproheptadine.

Both may tend to increase the dry mouth side effect of the antidepressants you are currently taking, so you should definitely discuss their coadministration with your doctor.
