Yes I agree with you TAMallick. There are many herbal medicines in forms of capsule and liquids nowadays. However, they are very expensive. Even though they cost a lot, many people are claiming that their illness had disappeared. Examples of herbal medicines being sold here are Pau de Arco, MX3, and Shayne Herbal. Also, I think I am not 100% in side with you when you said that herbal medicines have no side effects. I have a friend who has an allergy with herbal medicine. Not sure what's the name of that plant, but it was used to cure his dengue.

Just a reality check: herbs can cure diseases / provide relief because there is an active drug produced by it, and possibly some combination of the chemicals in the plant is how it provides relief. It doesn't mean there are no side effects or that it always works for everyone or anything different from real medicine.

And I just noticed this is quite an old thread that was bumped, but what I said still stands.

When choosing between modern Western medicine, and alternative and complementary medicines, it is pretty clear that very often synthetic remedies made of chemicals not only fail to cure diseases, but often cause more adverse side effects.

Herbal medicine is the use of herbs and medicinal plants as the first medicine is a universal phenomenon. They can provide a better quality of life.Herbs are just as effective as drugs, but without the side effects.Herbal medicine is about 70% of Traditional Chinese Medicine-going in deeper within the body to treat the root cause. They create a more potent, effective and efficient treatment to ensure quicker responses to re- establish health and balance.

The first point to make is that roughly half of today’s prescription and over-the-counter medicines are derived from plants. New drugs don’t just get created in the lab. Scientists trawl through jungles, rivers, wetlands and any other natural habitat they can find, looking for a new compound to test against all the sample viruses and bacteria they keep for this purpose.
