Black Ant: Undeclared Drug Ingredient

ISSUE: FDA laboratory analysis confirmed that Black Ant contains sildenafil, the active ingredient in Viagra, an FDA approved prescription drug for Erectile Dysfunction (ED). The product tested had three times the starting dosage for the approved product. Sildenafil may interact with nitrates found in some prescription drugs such as nitroglycerin and may lower blood pressure to dangerous levels. Men with diabetes, high blood pressure, high cholesterol or heart disease often take nitrates.
BACKGROUND: Blank Ant, marketed as a product for sexual enhancement, is sold on various websites. Claims made for the product falsely state that it is a "natural sexual enhancer" and that it has "no known side effects."
RECOMMENDATION: Consumers should stop using this product immediately and throw it away. Consumers who have experienced any negative side effects should consult a health care professional as soon as possible.
