Drug Interactions between aminolevulinic acid and avapritinib
This report displays the potential drug interactions for the following 2 drugs:
- aminolevulinic acid
- avapritinib
Interactions between your drugs
aminolevulinic acid avapritinib
Applies to: aminolevulinic acid and avapritinib
Aminolevulinic acid sensitizes your skin to bright lights, and combining it with other medications that can also have this effect (i.E., photosensitivity) such as avapritinib may increase the risk of a severe sunburn. In general, it is recommended that other potentially photosensitizing medications be avoided for 24 hours before and after taking aminolevulinic acid. There have also been suggestions to avoid these medications for up to 2 weeks afterwards, although it may not be feasible to interrupt some treatments for that long, especially if they are medically necessary. Check with your doctor to see if you should temporarily withhold any of your medications before and after taking aminolevulinic acid. Following treatment, you should avoid exposure of the eyes and skin to sunlight or bright indoor lights for 48 hours. It is important to tell your doctor about all other medications you use, including vitamins and herbs. Do not stop using any medications without first talking to your doctor.
Drug and food interactions
avapritinib food
Applies to: avapritinib
Avapritinib should be taken on an empty stomach, one hour before or two hours after a meal. Do not consume grapefruit, grapefruit juice, or any supplements that contain grapefruit extract during treatment with avapritinib unless directed otherwise by your doctor. Grapefruit juice can increase the blood levels of avapritinib. This may increase the risk and/or severity of serious side effects such as bleeding in the brain; cognitive impairment (forgetfulness, confusion, trouble thinking); changes in mood or behavior; hallucinations; fluid retention or swelling; and decreases in blood cell counts. You may also be more likely to develop anemia, bleeding problems, or infections due to low blood cell counts. Talk to your doctor if you have any questions or concerns. It is important to tell your doctor about all other medications you use, including vitamins and herbs. Do not stop using any medications without first talking to your doctor.
Therapeutic duplication warnings
No warnings were found for your selected drugs.
Therapeutic duplication warnings are only returned when drugs within the same group exceed the recommended therapeutic duplication maximum.
