Usual Adult Dose for Diabetes Mellitus Type II
120 mg orally three times daily before meals.
-or-
60 mg three times daily before meals (patients who are near goal HbA1c).
Renal Dose Adjustments
No dosage adjustment is necessary in patients with mild to severe renal insufficiency.
Liver Dose Adjustments
No dosage adjustment is necessary in patients with mild hepatic insufficiency. Dosing of patients with moderate to severe hepatic dysfunction has not been studied.
Precautions
Safety and effectiveness have not been established in pediatric patients (less than 18 years of age).
Dialysis
Patients with type 2 diabetes and renal failure on dialysis had reduced overall drug exposure and reductions in plasma protein binding compared to matched healthy patients.
Other Comments
Nateglinide should be taken within 30 minutes prior to meals.
