Flomax (tamsulosin) for Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia "I have frequent urination at night. Dr prescribed Flomax. I took my first pill last evening 30 minutes after dinner. Felt nauseous in the morning. Got up for work and nearly passed out in the shower. Flopped on the bed wrapped in a towel. Had a cold sweat. My BP must have dropped. I did not go to work today and have been lethargic all day. I am not taking Flomax ever again."

Flomax (tamsulosin) for Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia "Since being on Flomax my bowels don't function properly. Constipation. Need laxative every 3 days. Stomach aches, cramps, low energy, dizziness. Just generally feel bad. Hardly ever leave home now. Its terrible. Been on it 90 days. Wasn't sick until I started taking this drug. I'll elect surgery early if necessary to get off this drug."

Flomax (tamsulosin) for Urinary Tract Stones "Went to the ER with severe pain in right side. Diagnosed with a 4mm stone and given Flomax and pain meds. I am a 57 yr old woman. Took Flomax for 5 days. Began to have very painful breasts and pain in my other kidney. Also shooting pain in my hips and legs. Almost as if I was having my period even though that ended for me long ago. Would not take Flomax again. Has taken two weeks to start feeling normal again. I did pass the stone but the side effects were too scary."

Flomax (tamsulosin) for Urinary Tract Stones "29years old. Kidney stone dropped me to the floor, in tears, on my first day of work @ a great new job. Manager had to drive me to ER. Not a good look in a blue collar line of work. Literally threw up on myself from the pain. Turned down morphine due to past narcotic dependency. Toradol saved me that day, but stones not gone. Got CT done, "One 5mm, two 2mm". Flomax for past three weeks. Just passed an 8mm stone....laughing & joyously celebrating! Haha I've watched my father suffer through a dozen stones. He never took flomax. I know that what I just passed should not have come out that easily/painlessly."

Flomax (tamsulosin) for Urinary Tract Stones "Diagnosed with kidney stone at 7:00 am, started on Flomax shortly after, passed it by 2:00 pm that day. Also on Oxycodone with Acetaminophen for pain. Took only one dose of each and it passed. I felt lucky."

Flomax (tamsulosin) for Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia "Before Flomax for 6 weeks I had experienced urgency to urinate, dribbling, reduced flow. Within one day of starting Flomax, it was like magic - I noticed increased flow, no dribbling, no urgency to urinate, less frequent urination. Also, I noticed that the muscles in my groin area seemed more relaxed. I did notice an undesirable side effect though; dry mouth. I have to speak a lot at work, and a couple of times my mouth dried up and I had difficult speaking."

Flomax (tamsulosin) for Urinary Frequency "I stopped my 4-5 time nightly peeing down to 2-3 but I get dizzy standing sometimes and always when outside in the heat playing golf. Never let myself get dehydrated and now drink electrolyte mixture. Does not interfere with outdoor exercise or biking (don't get dizzy)."

Flomax (tamsulosin) for Urinary Tract Stones "Female here. Had 2 stones one was 24mm and the other is 12 mm. Had Litho on the 24 mm stone 3 weeks ago with a stent and have slept on the toilet since that has been the only comfortable position. Dr. Wouldn' t give me any more pain pills. Then I go in for my "stent removal" he says I still have a lot of sediment to come out yet. As I cried in the office because of the 9 out of 10 out of control misery this stent is and has caused for over 3 weeks. He says well we could try flomax. I take the .4 TWICE a day and let me tell you I peed out more stone in 3 days than I collected in 3 weeks AND the "discomfort" is down to a 2/10. Thankfully cause I have to leave the stent in another 1-2 weeks. At least I'm not crying anymore. My only noticeable side effect is WILDLY detailed and terrifying dreams. But hey, At least I am sleeping."

Flomax (tamsulosin) for Urinary Tract Stones "Six weeks postpartum of having my baby I started experiencing UTI symptoms. After two rounds of antibiotics, ruling out appendicitis, the dr. concluded it must be a kidney stone. Told me to drink lots of water. For a month I experienced dull pain, extreme pain, to no pain. Finally I had excruciating pain. My hubby drove me to the hospital. Went to the Outpatient building (to avoid ER cost). Got CT scan and KUB scan. The urologist fit us in that day to look over. I had a 7mm stone that had reached my ureter. She prescribed Flomax. After 1 dose and 9 hours later, I passed the stone. Didn't even feel it pass! Woke up next morning and didnt feel pain. Went back to Outpatient for KUB scan and showed no stone! Only symptoms were dizziness."

Flomax (tamsulosin) for Urinary Tract Stones "Woke up with nausea and diarrhea and unbearable pain in my left side. Days later ended up at the ER and cat scan showed 6mm stone on left , Dr. put me on Flomax 1X per day for 10 days and pain meds. Followed up with urologist 9 days after taking the Flomax and an ultrasound showed no more stone on my left side I passed it without feeling it. I have another 5mm on my right but now that I know what to expect I will have Flomax and pain meds on hand for the next episode."

Flomax (tamsulosin) for Urinary Tract Stones "I was prescribed Flomax to help with expelling a kidney stone. Initially it made me feel sluggish and like I was in a fog. After five days, more severe side effects started—throbbing headache, lack of appetite, chills, flu-like symptoms, difficultly sleeping, and severe diarrhea. The side effects of this medication were really terrible. Stopped it after five days due to awful side effects."

Flomax (tamsulosin) for Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia "Wow! Took Flomax one time and it greatly improved urine flow and got rid of urgency! The downside was a pounding headache and the complete elimination of ejaculate. It’s a shame..I had high hopes! Doctor recommended discontinue use immediately which I already had done. He recommended Saw Palmetto. We’ll see how that goes! Desperate for a solution!"

For Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia "I took Tamsulosin for around four months and more or less immediately started suffering with anorgasmia (couldn’t reach climax) and struggled getting an erection too. Thought it was age related (58 at that time) until I saw other reviews saying similar issues. Went to see my doctor and persuaded her to take me off it and go for green light laser pvp treatment instead. Which I had around six months later. Took several more months until things went back to normal. Now 61 and things all working fine. Just think this side effect is more common than the leaflet tells. Also had a devastating effect on me psychologically and got quite depressed but thankfully over it now. I’ve never had any reaction to any other drug I’ve taken so just want people to be aware about this if they take Tamsulosin"

Flomax (tamsulosin) for Urinary Tract Stones "I am a 56 yr old woman. Went to the ER with severe pain in my right side. Diagnosed with a 4mm stone and given Flomax . After taking it for 4 days, my stone had moved along. However, I had an aching pressure in my vagina area. Much like having my period. I have been through menopause many years ago so this was strange. I had to take a pain pill for it. Pretty intense. The next morning my breasts were sore. I stopped taking Flomax. Was not made aware it wasn't approved for women. This effect should be studied before prescribing. Hope it goes away after disuse."

Flomax (tamsulosin) for Urinary Tract Stones "This was my third kidney stone. The first two (3mm) were very painful and I used pain killers, no flomax. The ER did a CAT scan and said this stone was 5 mm and located at the junction between the ureter and kidney, and was causing mild hydronephrosis. They gave me flomax and pain meds. I do not like to take medicine and since pain was bearable at that point, I just took the flomax not the pain meds. I was skeptical since the FDA has only approved Flomax in men with prostate issues but doctor explained it helps the ureter stretch. I took it in the evenings after dinner and had no noticeable side effects. Took about two weeks, but stone passed and I never took a singe pain pill - did drink tons of water, had a bit of cramping, that's all!"

Flomax (tamsulosin) for Urinary Tract Stones "I was given a shot of Tamsulosin in the ER and a prescription for Flomax at 7:30 Friday night, and passed one stone (possibly a sliver of the original) Sunday night at 11:30, and another (3mm) stone Monday at 3:30. The only pain meds I took was 600mg of Ibuprofen (and a TON of water!!!), and from beginning to end, on a scale of 1-10, the pain never exceeded a 3 or a 4!! Flomax and Tamsulosin are a miracle for kidney stones!!"

Flomax (tamsulosin) for Urinary Tract Stones "Female age 35 with history of kidney stones. Went to ER for kidney stone pain on a Friday, was given a shot of Flomax and a prescription to take daily. Saw urologist and received CAT scan on Monday - one 5mm kidney stone in ureter and two more (one in each kidney) to come. On day six of Flomax and going to stop taking it - feeling very dizzy, nauseous, tired with chills/low fever at night. Still haven't passed the stone but can't take these side affects. Doctor said I can go back on Flomax anytime if my kidney stone pain comes back and I need it to help pass this stone."

Flomax (tamsulosin) for Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia "Within a week of beginning the medication my energy plummeted. I also developed a tooth abscess which I have come to find out as a possible side effect. As far as benefits nothing is discernible. After walking out the flight of stairs in my gym heading for the treadmill I became so lightheaded and nauseous I had to go and sit down which is completely opposite of my normal conditioning."

Flomax (tamsulosin) for Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia "I have been on Tamsulosulin for about 6 months, I don't have any side effects, I did have retrograde ejaculation for about a week, but all has been well since. I do forget to take the 1 tablet occasionally. Actually forgot this weekend. I don't notice a marked difference with or without the drug, perhaps a slightly weaker stream and a slightly harder time passing urine, but I do wonder if its actually worth taking? I will discuss this with my Urologist. So give it a go if your Dr says so it dose help a bit."

Flomax (tamsulosin) for Urinary Tract Stones "I’m a female who creates about three dozen kidney stones a year. I usually have a Lithotripsy procedure every year because they grow big. Every once in a while a stone is small enough to make it out. When I have pain, I take Flomax, until the stone is through. The worst side effect is leaking if I cough or sneeze, so I only stay on it for a short period of time. It’s a lifesaver!"

For Urinary Frequency "Been taking tamsulosin for one week. Previously had been getting up 2-4 times each night and was constantly looking for a bathroom during the day. The first couple of nights I took the tamsulosin I only got up once. On the fourth night I didn't get up at all, and during the day I had no overwhelming urges to run to the bathroom. Have had no side effects such as dizziness, dry mouth or stuffy nose. This stuff really works and I can see it will improve my sleep and my overall lifestyle."

Flomax (tamsulosin) for Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia "Took Flomax for 1 1/2 years for an enlarged prostate. On the positive side, it did help ease the flow of urine, though not significantly on the frequency. However, my blood pressure kept dropping and on my daily walks I noticed I would often feel like I'm going to pass out or faint. This was happening 4 or 5 times per hour, so I asked my doctor if I could withdraw the medication to see if these attacks or syncope would go away. After 3 days I noticed that the symptoms had gone. It's about 1 month now without an attack. So my personal diagnosis, for what it is worth, is that Flomax can reduce blood pressure enough to cause symptoms akin to syncope."

Flomax (tamsulosin) for Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia "I don't know if this medicine would have worked or not because after three days I was so weak and dizzy from low blood pressure that I stopped taking it. Better to get up 1-2 x a night to pee than pass out from walking across the house. If you have low-to-normal blood pressure, watch out. Also tried doxazosin/Cardura before this with similar results."
