For Depression "I add 3/8 teaspoon of SJW powder to my morning smoothie along with Ashwagandha , maca, and reishi. By the 3rd day of taking SJW I noticed a significant difference in my anxiety level and mood. I wouldn't say that I feel "happier" but I feel more balanced. It reminds me a bit of taking a Xanax. It's possible that my dose is a little too high. No nasty side effects for me. I've been taking it for about 10 days now and I've been waking up every day for the last week feeling super chilled out."

For Depression "I have tried SSRIs and they all have bad side effects like confusion, memory loss. I feel slow, very fatigued, etc. With St. John's Wort, I feel uplifted instead of blocked out. I feel more calm and less worried. It's only been 2 days, and I feel 100 times better than anything else I've ever taken. Can't wait to see what the results will be like in a few weeks."

For Depression "I wanted to try this as an alternative to SSRIs. I have been taking it for a little over a month, and it's causing me SEVERE stomach upset, nausea, and vomiting. I can barely eat. I have to stop taking it altogether. It's also made my anxiety worse. I'm disappointed because I wanted it to work."

For Depression "I began taking Saint John's Wort in a low dose (300mg in the morning) almost immediately I started to feel better; it elevated my mood and my depression is about 2/10 being 1 no depression and 10 severe depression. I am now reducing my dose to zero, but I am starting to feel a bit depressed. I think I am going to continue on Saint John's Wort on a dose of 150mg daily."

For Depression "Really pleased with this product. I have suffered on and off for years with depression (particularly in the winter months) and chronic mild anxiety. I have been taking it for five days and I am honestly feeling much calmer and a lot less low in mood. Although it has not been a 'magic cure' as such, I am definitely experiencing significant improvements. Word of warning: If you do choose to use this product, however, you need to check first that it doesn't clash with any other medications you are taking. It says on the packet not to use with birth control pills for example. I had to do my research first and luckily non of my other personal meds do clash."

For Depression "Back in 2004 a friend who I worked with told me about St. John's Wort and that she swears by it. I started out on it and stayed on it for a few years and then got off it. I realized that my mood swings came back along with anxiety. I felt restless, bored, mad and on edge most of the time. I now have gone back to SJW with the 375's and can't be happier. My husband has trouble sleeping and he takes them and sleeps soundly. We all have something to share and SJW is by far the best out there."

"After oral chemo/ 30 radiation treatments in 6 weeks time done for brain cancer the trigeminal nerve on the right side of my face is damaged/irritated . Two years later I’ve started taking St. John’s Wort and it seems to relieve some of the issues even if only temporarily. My eye functions more normally, As does my mouth and ear. Skin numbness is lessened and finally my entire nervous system is calmer after the assault on my brain"

For Depression "I've been dealing with work stress for some time now experiencing mood swings and snapping at coworkers. I tried SJW about 10 years ago and recall that it helped me then so I started taking 3x300's tabs dosage today and immediately felt much more mellow. Dry mouth is the only side effect. I'll be sticking with SJW."

For Depression "I took this on top of taking SAM-E for depression and fatigue. I'll put the good first. This supplement is amazing. Makes me feel much more confident, much less socially anxious, and more able to be assertive, and have no fatigue. AND I am interested in things again. I feel joy from looking at the mountains and such. It started increasing my facial twitches from SAM-E which also Ritalin brought out. SJW feels kind of like a drug like Ritalin but with a much lower up. I've got to say I feel pretty good taking it. I take 350mg once in the morning, a double dose at 2:00, and a single dose again around 6:00. Sometimes I will take another dose around 10:00 p.m. I feel like I don't need the SAM-E anymore. Highly recommend."

For Depression "I love this stuff. I've taken it one time before and it has worked great both times. I would not consider myself to be clinically depressed, but my anxiety is always constant and sometimes becomes unmanageable and starts to effect my work life. Also, the two year anniversary of my dad's death is coming up soon and this is the time when his cancer really started to take it's toll on him, so I've been feeling some depression right now also. I've taken it twice and I'm already noticing some positive changes in my mood."

For Depression "I am a 27 y/o female, have been battling depression and anxiety for a few years now. As I transition into a nurse, I decided that enough is enough, I can't keep living my life with this anxiety and unhappiness. St. John's Wort works okay. I didn't notice a huge change in my mood. I was a little happier, but not much. The anxiety was still the same. The biggest change I noticed was that it made it easier for me to talk to people. I have social anxiety really bad. Reason I decided to stop taking it is bc one night I had super bad anxiety so I took a Xanax and it COMPLETELY CANCELED OUT the effect of my Xanax. Went into a full blown panic attack, had to call into work. This drug has a A LOT of interactions with other meds. Will be going on SSRI"

For Depression "I wanted this to work for anxiety but it had the opposite effect on me and gave me an intense panic attack. A stranger asked if I needed him to call 911. I could barely talk (stuttering), heart racing, hyperventilating. It was terrible. Never took St John's Wort again."

For Depression "So I had depression/anxiety for over 25 years. Finally got off medication last year because I changed my diet and had done pretty well with it. My dr keeps trying to pin every ailment I have back on my depression, so I thought I’d give St. John’s wort a try, despite not having cyclical depressive/anxiety thoughts. Just going by my physical symptoms...after three days I was in full blown panic mode, with deep depression, thoughts I have not had for the past year. So IDK I guess it wasn’t my depression...like I told my dr but he wouldn’t listen. So I can’t say this works. I would have thought I would have gotten some help for just generally feeling like rubbish and not really happy"

For Depression "I have been taking St Johns Wort for about a week now to help me with my anxiety and it has worked brilliantly. I feel so much more energised and clear in my brain and like other people said wake up feeling ready for the day. I still have worries and thoughts to deal with but they do not trigger hours of anxiety. I would definitely recommend taking them if you have been feeling like you want to sort out your anxiety for a while, I feel so much better!"

For Depression "I have had Seasonal Affective Disorder for the past two years. I would feel depressed, anxious and even suicidal. However when I learned about this, I started taking them, and it works wonders! I am so happy now! Keep in mind that this may have side effects.... for me I have some trouble sleeping after it and your appetite decreases. For some people the appetite part is good because they need to lose weight but not for me. I am a bit worried because I am already a bit under weight and I don’t want to lose any more weight. But I guess I’ll see :) Thank you St Johns Wort!!"

"One important fact I did not notice in the description is that St. John's Wort is known to decrease the effects of hormonal birth control. Women using birth control who are considering St. John's Wort should either look for alternatives or add other birth control methods like condoms, diaphragms, spermicide, etc. to their routine. And of course, discuss it with your doctor if you are unsure of anything."

For Depression "St. john's wort works for me. I have 370mg tablets. The packaging states only 1 tablet a day. I am going against the recommendation on the packaging and taking two 370mg tablets a day. At that level I do notice some difference. There are only 2 negatives: the cost and the effect on the stomach. The tablets irritate the stomach -- only take them on a full stomach. A 370mg tablet has on its own very little effect. These are much more subtle than SSRIs. I don't get the tension in the head and jaw like with SSRIs. There doesn't seem to be the extreme flattening of emotions and other side effects."

For Depression "I tried this as an alternative to SSRI's which always have adverse side effects for me and are ultimately not worth it. I initially tried a very small dose of just 300mg a day which works fairly well for mild depression and without being a life changer, certainly helps. I have also experienced an increased dose of 660mg a day which was an absolute help for more moderate depression but had slightly adverse side effects including vomiting and stomach cramps. The side effects were mild, the vomiting was after a period of fast heart beat that the pills caused so I lowered the dose again. So I'd say these are great as a mood enhancer for mild/moderate depression but keep an eye on the side effects, and ALWAYS take with or right after a full meal."

"Do not take this herb. It is not meant to be taken for long-term use. The withdrawal symptoms that I experienced were heart palpitations. I do not recommend this to anyone. There should be a warning label on the bottle."

For Depression "This is a terrible option in my opinion. It may offer slight relief from low mood but it causes very nasty side effects if mixed with other medication or if doses are missed. I really would advise anyone not to touch it with a barge pole."

For Depression "I have had restless leg syndrome for 30 years & it is 24 hours a day. I have tried many medications & ropinirole by far is the best prescription med. I have taken. But after so long on it, your body needs more of it to work properly. I have tried many herbal remedies over the years , with none of them able to help with this unbelievably torturous condition. Until I read a new report about St. John’s Wort having been tested & found to help & relieve symptoms of RLS. Well I did my research & got a bottle. Right from the start I got a good deal of relief. I had to try different brands & strengths , some are stronger then others & can react differently with each person , but over all I have found it quite effective in relieving RLS symptoms."

For Depression "PLEASE DO NOT TAKE THIS WITH OTHER MEDICATIONS ESPECIALLY PRESCRIBED MEDICATIONS UNTIL SPEAKING WITH YOUR DOCTOR. SJW has helped me with my depression. For some the effects take time but me I felt the effects right away. I started with just taking one 300mg tablet each day. And now I take it twice a day. I noticed a major difference in my irritability. SJW doesn't not interact well with some medications for example birth control. Please do your research and/or speak to a Doctor before taking this. Can be dangerous if taken with the wrong medicine."

For Depression "I have dealt with moderate to severe depression on/off since my early 20s (I'm now almost 40). I have several antidepressants and found Zoloft was the only med that worked, so I remained on a dose of 100 mg for almost 10 years. I did try to wean myself off on 3 separate occasions, as I no longer wanted to be on pharma drugs, but every time I had terrible withdrawal symptoms. I finely decided to try St. John's Wort instead. I have been on 900mg daily for close to 1 year. St. John's Wort was helpful in combating the withdrawal symptoms I continued to have even weeks after discontinuing the Zoloft, but I continue to have mild depressed mood with irritability. I am going to stop St. John's Wort and try 5-HTP."
