For Depression "IF YOU ARE TAKING THIS HERB PLS. SAVE YUR EYE SIGHT AND EYE HEALTH & STOP TAKING IT. This herb cured my severe depression for 11yrs. Recent eye tests are showing bad eye pressure changes, possible beginning glaucoma, cataract surgery maybe down the road. I looked up the latest research & forums & yes, St John's wort causes eye problems. My eyes have felt bad for quite awhile now. I'm stopping & trying saffron instead. I'm only 49, & don't want premature eye problems."

For Depression "I am taking this along with Buspar for my anxiety and depression. I only had anxiety so I was only taking Buspar, but it seems as though Buspar took away the anxiety and brought on depression. I'm against taking SSRI's or other antidepressants, so I asked my doctor first about possible interactions, then bought some St. John's Wort. Ever since, it hasn't happened to me anymore. I also have no side effects at all from it. Some people say it will give u headaches, but I've never had one. I personally believe that if u truly need this, there will be no headaches because your body needs it. But who knows, that's just my personal opinion :) it doesn't hurt to try it!"

For Depression "I take 1000mg of St. John’s Wort nightly, up from 500. Prior to this I was taking a low dose of Zoloft for the two weeks before my period to help manage my severe PMS, but I disliked the side effects. I started seeing the benefits of St. John’s after a few weeks. My PMS is a 2/10 down from a 9/10, and I noticed that my day-to-day mood improved on the whole, which was auspicious in its timing as I have traditionally found the beginning of winter and lack of daylight to take a toll on my general mental health. I did not notice any side effects from taking this, and I only increased my dosage when I switched to a bottle that had more concentrated tablets. My partner also takes it at night before sleep because he notices it has a gentle sedating quality without feeling groggy the next morning but this doesn’t happen to me. My reading on St. John’s wort warned it may affect the effectiveness of Xanax, which I take rarely and it still works like before."

For Depression "I suffer with dysthymia, which is a chronic low-grade depression. I have to say, I have definitely seen an improvement since I've started taking it. It's been about 2-3 weeks now and I'm already noticing some changes. I don't feel as "low" all the time and I find it easier to think positively so I can pull myself out of a negative mood. I also have much more motivation to do things; I can't think of the last time I've actually felt motivated enough to jump out of bed and get ready for the day the moment I wake up in the morning! I used to struggle to even wake up. It hasn't helped my OCD, anxiety, or BPD too much yet, but it's also only been a few weeks, so we'll see what happens ;)"

For Depression "I'd been feeling hopeless about my constant depression and anxiety, and decided to try st. john's wort on a whim. I was extremely skeptical at first, because previous medications either gave me terrible side effects or made me feel worse. However, 2 weeks in, and my mind has stopped racing, I find it easier to concentrate, and I'm feeling positive about life for the first time in years. I'm on quite a relatively low dosage at the moment (200mg), so after this course I'll be trying 350mg to see if there is any further improvement. Long story short, I feel a lot better! Would recommend."

For Depression "With family history of mild depression, I started using St. John's wort over 10 years ago and haven't had any problems with it; however, lately I have been experiencing GERD and found out that there is a drug interaction between Omeprezole (doctor's prescription for GERD) and St. John's Wort."

For Depression "I recently (within the last year) started suffering from panic attacks. They were sudden and brought on out of nowhere. I've always suffered from anxiety, but given recent life changes, it had taken it's nasty toll into debilitating panic attacks. I had become so anxiety ridden that I was forgetful, overwhelmed and my mind felt like a racetrack. My doctor prescribed me 20 mg of fluexotine (generic Prozac) and I took it for about 2 weeks before I quickly realized it wasn't for me. I discovered St. John's Wort and Valerian Root and they have completely changed my life. The weight off the world is off of my shoulders and I feel so much more balanced. No more panic attacks and anxiety has been greatly reduced."

For Depression "I don't ever leave reviews for anything but I felt the need to leave this. After a few trails with medication that left me fearful to try more, I researched and tried this - mostly uplifted by the no side effects angle. It's supposed to take a few weeks to work but I noticed extreme results within a few days. It brought me out of my depression and quelled my anxiety so so well. I think I may have had a bit of insomnia due to it but this was cured by a cup of passionflower tea before bed. I had also lost my appetite for the better part of 2 months, losing 25 lbs. I am now eating as I had before! I did pair it with some light exercise and better eating but that was after. I just bought a brand from a local drugstore. A ++ for this"

For Depression "I took SJW twice daily for three+ months after my doctor recommended as an alternative to anti-depressants (I have mood instability and SAD). After a couple months taking it regularly, I became gradually more anxious. I thought it was other stressors at the time, but eventually the anxiety was worse it has have been in my life, and I eventually began experiencing panic attacks and developing panic disorder, and mild agoraphobia. It was very disturbing, and affected me for about six months afterward. I was told by my doctor that sometimes people respond this way to SSRI’s (that it ends up increasing rather than decreasing their anxiety.) Please be careful! It’s herbal but it certainly affected me."

For Depression "I strongly recommend this for moderate depression and moderate anxiety. I had a work related breakdown and was on sick leave for 5 months. My doctor prescribed anti-depressants a few months in. I did not take them. I wanted a more natural approach. So I tried Saint John’s Wort. I started feeling better about 1 to 1.5 weeks in. I’ve been uphill ever since. It’s been 2 months. I feel great. My life is back on track. So I stopped taking it last week. Mild headaches once or twice in the first week starting up, and last week when I quit cold turkey. No other side effects."

For Depression "I wouldn’t say I was depressed as such because I never felt ‘low’. But I did however notice I was becoming increasingly irritable and had many mood swings. My partner was getting very upset with my frequent irritation and anger over the smallest of things and questions. I have been taking this for about a week and I have noticed a massive difference in my moods. I no longer get at all irritated over small things and am much more calm and rational. My partner says I am back to my old calm self. I have had zero side effects and simply feel ‘jolly’. I also wake up quicker and go about daily tasks much quicker. I am very impressed with this medication."

For Depression "I used the Kira brand of St. John's Wort because it was one of the ones used in the clinical trials done in Europe. While I feel this is a good brand of St. John's Wort, I had side effects from it which prevented me from continuing on it. I had diarrhea, gas and abdominal pain. I was unable to continue on the medication. While I was on it, I did not see any improvement, but I was not on it long enough. Also, I should note that I was only on 300 mg and got this side effect. Perhaps I am very sensitive."

For Depression "I have severe depression anxiety paranoia and borderline personality disorder. And this is the only thing to help me maintain my life. One time I ran out of St.Johns Wort for a almost two weeks and I was not OK I wasn't able to function. This saves my life and helps me to live a productive life. I still struggle with a few things but nothing I can't handle with St.Johns Wort. The only side effect I have is my vision. It's not to bad just have to do other things to help my vision. Best stuff ever"

For Depression "I started taking St John's wort after a recommendation from a family friend. A little background. Last year's begin taking celexa, it helped for a little bit but two weeks ago I decided it wasn't worth it. Especially because of the side effects. Anyway, I started taking St John's wort last week and immediately feel better. More focus, more control of my mind. I would recommend this to anyone who feels like they're life is out of control and are depressed because of it. I also recommend reading the book "The power of now". These two things combined have completely changed my outlook on life. Bottom line is, we all die. What's the point in being miserable all the time? This drug helps me stay balanced, and I think it will for you too if you try."

For Depression "I was diagnosed with chronic depression and my therapist suggested I start taking meds for it. I hated the thought of taking something like that so I went online and found these pills and they are amazing. I bought them from amazon. I never noticed how bad my thoughts and moods were. I couldn't be the mother my children needed me to be and some days it would be hard for me to get out the bed or even leave the house. These pills started working within the first week of taking them. I also take 5 -HTP 200 mg along with the St Johns wort and they work wonders together. My negative thoughts are gone and I can get up and move and smile like I use to. I would recommend these pills to anyone, especially if you would rather have a natural alternative"

For Depression "I have been feeling down and anxious and my GP prescribed me an antidepressant for severe depression. I have been on a different medication before and found that although I felt more stable, I was reduced to a zombie. So, I decided to try St John's Wort after reading good reviews. I started on 325mg once a day in the morning. Day one - I felt amazing! I thought hey, if this is a placebo effect, I don't care! Day two, I started to feel shaky and spaced out. My partner said he noticed that I became intense on worries and seemed worse. Day 3, I took it and all day, I have had that same fuzzy brain zap feeling that you get with prescribed AD, nausea, brain fog, insomnia, ear ringing & light sensitivity. I would not say it has less side effects."

For Depression "I took St John's wort 10 yrs ago when I was going through the menopause then came off them after about 1 year felt great, then due to COVID I got very depressed and had really bad anxiety. My doctor suggested antidepressants. I said no I didn't want to go on them I said I was going to try St John's Wort again he does blood tests every 6 months to see if they are interfering with my other meds up to now every things fine and I can honestly say they are a god send. It took about 4 to 5 weeks before they kicked in but now they have but please check with your doctor before you start them if you are on other medications"

For Depression "I was disappointed that St John's Wort didn't work for me. I took 300 mg capsules 3X daily for, I'm not sure if it was a full year, but at least 6 months min. I wanted to really give it a good try & hoped it would work for mild depression & SAD. This was 10 yrs ago. It didn't lift my moods, in fact in hindsight I realize now that if anything it only made me more irritable in my situation at the time, & all I got out of it was an unexpected, very *nasty* painful sunburn on a cloudy day at the beach the first day of summer. I wonder if the "recommended" dose was too high for me, but I was eager for results. I still struggle with depression worsening as I age (hormonal decline which docs won't treat, now with terrible insomnia for over a year) but I'm not keen to try this herb again. I've since tried countless other nutritional, pharmaceutical, herbal, lifestyle & behavioral suggestions that have not worked well for me. I don't know what else to do."

For Depression "I suddenly started thinking about life and death and about the meaning of this world, etc. I suffered from panic attacks and bunch of phobias showed up. I started realizing that I might be suffering from a moderate borderline severe depression. I didn’t want to see the psychiatrist because I didn’t want to talk about my feelings I didn’t recognize myself and couldn’t enjoy anything in life. So, I started taking it out on binge eating and gained 30lbs in two months. I started with holy basil tea and that seemed to help me with the panic attacks. However, the sadness and pessimism was still in me.Then I started taking valerian every late afternoon to tranquilize myself from anxiety. Then found out about Saint John wort. Started drinking three cups a day of the St johns wort tea because I read that tea gives almost immediate results compared to capsules. On the third day I noticed that I was able to sleep through the night without the valerian and in the morning was waking up happy."

For Depression "Last night I googled over the counter medicine for mild to moderate anxiety and depression. Found St John's Wort. Today I went to Walgreen's and the pharmacist recommended the exact same thing! I knew this would be perfect. I'm so thrilled that it's a natural herbal supplement too! The pharmacist said it would take 6 weeks to work. It's already working great. My mood is more stable I don't feel sad or anxious about anything. I feel relaxed. My mind doesn't feel heavy. It feels clear and it's great! I would totally recommend this product. The price was right too!"

For Depression "Terrible side effects. I started first with St John's Wort tea bags three times a day and after a week of using, I switched on pills. I used 300 mg pills twice a day for just two days and at the end of the second day I was in full blown panic mode. I also had dizziness, dry and itchy eyes, headache, disturbances in blood pressure and vivid dreams. Stopped taking pills right away but it took about 3 weeks for the symptoms to completely fade away. Would never recommend using it on its own, without consulting a doctor. This is not a safe natural remedy."

For Depression "I took this for three days and was very cautious, taking about half the recommended dose. Unfortunately even with low dosage I experienced a severe allergic reaction and ended up in A&E. My face, arms and torso were covered in hives but not my legs. I rang 111 and as I was talking to them on the phone I watched the rash travelling down my legs. I expected to find more reports of people having a similar reaction but it seems it’s pretty rare. I am shocked as I have never had an allergic reaction to anything before in my life. But a small amount of a herbal remedy triggered one that affected my whole body. Very frightening."
