Solosec (secnidazole) "So I literally took the medication before reading the reviews but I’m glad I did. In the instructions it states to swallow it and don’t chew it or crush it up. I ate mine with applesauce (I don’t like yogurt) and I literally finished it in 3 minutes. Every spoon I took I just swallowed. I did not allow it to get on my tongue. I gave it an 8 because I can still do normal things like consume alcohol with no issue. I’m not sure how fast it will work or what my side effects are but I literally took it 3 hours ago and I am still good. So I’m optimistic."

Solosec (secnidazole) "I took solosec around 3pm yesterday, and 24 hours later I have already seen a major improvement. I feel like people are being a little dramatic about the taste, I mixed it with a yogurt parfait from McDonalds and I did not taste a thing. However, even though it says it’s okay to drink while on this medicine, I strongly do not recommend it. I drank around noon, it is currently 6pm, and I have thrown up around 3 times today plus I still feel incredibly nauseated. I’m able to eat but it is not helping to reduce the nausea. But overall, had I not had anything to drink this would have been a very positive experience."

Solosec (secnidazole) "Like others I read the reviews before taking the medication. Every one had the same thing in common that it tasted disgusting. I still vowed to give it a chance since I’ve been dealing with BV for a few years now and the smell can be really embarrassing. First off let me say this it taste exactly like aspirin, but tiny crushed up pieces. I mixed the packet with yogurt with chocolate chip cookie crunches to mask the taste. It did help but not significantly. I gagged maybe twice in the beginning but after 4 scoops in I knew what to expect so I was ready. My advice to others the more ingredients you add to your yogurt the better chance you’ll have masking the taste of aspirin. Good luck ladies."

Solosec (secnidazole) "Do not under any circumstances be convinced by your doctor to take this medicine!!! Like others, I was gagging the entire time I was attempting to finish my pudding. I was also very light headed and nauseous afterwards. I had diarrhea for the rest of that day. I emailed the company to ensure that there were no other contraindications I should be aware of. I mean I felt terrible! It’s been longer than a week & they never got back to me. Obviously, I called my doctor that day, knowing Solosec reps wouldn’t reply ASAP. They told me to wait it out & call back if severe symptoms persisted. Okay sure. To my surprise they never replied at all. I continued having symptoms of upset stomach/nausea the next day. This is a new drug that’s being pushed to patients. I read the fine print stating that they have not ruled out carcinogenic effects. Lol wow. I always take the reviews of drugs I see online with a grain of salt. This time I didn’t even check the reviews, and I paid for it."

Solosec (secnidazole) "My lady part issues began when I was prescribed Levaquin (an awful antibiotic drug) before a surgery. That kicked off the nightmare journey I’ve been on for a year with non stop yeast infections and BV. Solosec was prescribed to me since the cycle between getting rid of the BV would promote yeast and a never ending cycle and my body is becoming resistant to the antibiotics. I’m 24 hours in to taking the Solosec prescription and what others are saying is true. It’s tastes terrible and you have these medication grains in your mouth that are bitter. It was a Friday and decided to have a cocktail and since the instruction say it doesn’t cause issues with alcohol, I figured I was fine. Wrong. I spent hours throwing up (and it was one cocktail) and the entires next day in bed recovering from dehydration and after effects of being so sick that the deepest bile and chemicals were coming out. I will NOT take this drug again."

Solosec (secnidazole) "I took this Solosec with chocolate pudding two days ago and I have been extremely nauseous and dizzy so horrible that I can barely lift my head off a pillow. I’m shaking and freezing and aching, tingling all over my body. I have the worst headache and it is even worse the second day than yesterday. I would not recommend this to anyone. I wish I never took it. I don’t know when this is going to stop, but I hope to goodness it’s soon. I’ve had this once before five years ago, was given a single pill and I never felt a thing from it and it went away immediately for five full years. I just had a miscarriage and they did a swab it came back with BV so my doctor suggested this is the best thing on the market. My insurance covered it but it was still $135. Do not take this people! There are plenty of other options. ;("

Solosec (secnidazole) "I took this at 11 am this morning to help cure my BV. It said there are NO ALCOHOL restrictions however here I am at 3:49 am and have been puking since 11pm. I had 2 glasses of wine and, had the drug warned against it, would not have done so. I’m literally so sick I’ll have to call into work. SOLOSEC is not worth the $75 I just paid out of pocket for. There’s MULTIPLE reviews on here stating the same. I’m fuming!!!"

Solosec (secnidazole) "I admire how tough and brave y’all are, I didn’t have applesauce or pudding , mixed it with jello and honestly I gagged the whole time - no exaggerating ! I wish I could say it was fine and didn’t taste like any thing but even now I have left over taste and I want to cry lol. But this works!!!!! I’ve taken it before and it was a dream I went to my Drs begging him to prescribe it since metronidazole does absolutely nothing for me. Having this bacteria is honestly emotionally and mentally draining. Wish y’all happy relief !!"

Solosec (secnidazole) "It didn’t work for me at all. What a waste of time and money. It left me with a yeast infection, nasty taste in my mouth, nausea. Once I was off my period back to the smell. I’ll just stick to boric acid suppositories in the mean time."

Solosec (secnidazole) "So I don’t think the taste is bad. Didn’t bother me at all. What bothers me is the awful side effects. For the past 3 days, I’ve had a migraine headache that won’t go away, extreme nausea and fatigue. I've also developed a rash but unknown if it’s related. It cured my BV BUT the negatives completely out way the positives. I will NEVER take this medication again."

Solosec (secnidazole) "I made the mistake of reading reviews AFTER I had already consumed the medication, and was super worried about side effects. I, fortunately, had very few. The medicine does not taste nearly as awful as some of these reviews portray. It doesn't taste great (it's bitter like crushed aspirin or tylenol), and I wouldn't eat it on its own, but it's totally manageable in yogurt. I had a metallic taste in my mouth and experienced a bit of nausea and was aware of my stomach for the first 12 hours or so, but it wasn't horrible and I was fine when I woke up the next morning. I've not tried to drink alcohol, and probably will not based on some of the other reviews. But this definitely was easier than messy creams or remembering to take a pill 2x a day for a week."

Solosec (secnidazole) "CAUTION, BE VERY CAREFUL! I have always had a sensitive stomach, but have never had issues with Flagyl being that this is in the same family, I assumed it would be no different. Boy was I wrong! I took Solosec Monday night at approx 6pm, in pudding. As the night wore on, I began to feel crummy, nauseous, and off so I decided to go to bed. About 1 am I woke up, bolted to the bathroom tripping over pillows, dogs, and whatever else, to barely make it to the toilet before projectile vomiting. The rest of the night was more of the same. By morning I was still feeling badly, so I decided to call my doctors office and let them know. It is now 1pm on Tuesday, and I had to leave my desk (I work from home), and go lie down. I’m still nauseous, have no appetite, and just feel off, but I’m hoping this feeling will go away soon. I can tell you this, I will NEVER take this stuff again! 1 day cure or not, I’ll stick with my Flagyl!"

Solosec (secnidazole) "After getting the medicine for $25 it was a plus utilizing the coupon. I put the medication in my favorite strawberry yogurt and it was horrible. The taste of the medicine is awful. However, I battled through the taste while having water, and a sweet cake in order to get the bad taste from out of my mouth. However, I had no bad experiences with the medication. It works fairly quickly, within 24 hours the smell was gone. I am very please with my outcome."

Solosec (secnidazole) "I took this drug for the first time and I must say that the taste is not that great but nothing to make you throw up or gag over. I sprinkled it in some strawberry applesauce and washed it down with water. Then I ate the rest of the applesauce and drank some more water. I did get a slight headache but nothing severe. I went to the gym worked out and kept myself hydrated. No awful taste in my mouth or any other symptoms when I woke up the next morning. I can say that the horrible BV odor is gone. "

Solosec (secnidazole) "I used a coupon and got this medicine for $25 to cure my BV. I took this on a Friday around 10am and it has a HORRIBLE taste. I mixed it with strawberry applesauce and apple juice to help swallow and it still was HORRIBLE. This medicine sat in my stomach and made me feel just really uneasy/uncomfortable.. I did drink alcohol the same night I took which was a mistake. I didn’t actually vomit but I felt very nauseous. Today is now Sunday and I still feel sick on my stomach, very uncomfortable. I do NOT recommend this medicine at all. It’s a one time dose but the sickness and nausea are NOT worth it. I’ll be taking the 5-7 days antibiotics from now on"

Solosec (secnidazole) "I wish I had read these reviews prior to taking this medicine! I, like so many others, was just desperate for something that would actually work to cure my BV after 2 yrs. HOWEVER... I took it at 10am. Fine all day until I had an alcoholic drink at night. Got so nauseous I went home and to bed. Woke up feeling bad. I haven’t been able to leave the couch. Still feeling nauseous and blah. Guess I was a lucky one since I didn’t vomit. But I can’t imagine this continuing for days. Not to mention it was the worst tasting thing and I struggled to get it down in the 30 mins. My BV seems a bit better today. But they need to market this truthfully. It DOES change the taste of your food. And is NOT alcohol friendly. Crazy to say I’d rather have metronidazole."

Solosec (secnidazole) "Do NOT drink with this medicine. They need to stop marketing that it is acceptable. I took the medicine around 6:30. Had a few drinks around 8:30-10:30. Was then up from 12 to 5 am projectile vomiting and using the restroom at the same time. Worst night of my life. Imagine throwing up tiny granules that get stuck in your throat / nose! Trust me. It’s not worth it. I haven’t tried the medicine before without drinking so I cannot comment on its effectiveness or side effects. Just trust me, please, do not drink!"

Solosec (secnidazole) "I have had a terrible experience with this drug. I thought it would be tasteless and poured it into yogurt. I struggled to swallow yogurt without crunching the granules and resorted to swallowing yogurt with water. The taste was so unbearable that I almost started vomiting right then and there but the drug cost $45 and did not want to waste it. I enjoyed the bowel prep before a colonoscopy above this taste! Instantly I developed a strong migraine as if I took nitro under my tongue, but the headache never left and I had associated nausea. It stopped my life. My oldest daughter had to call off work to take care of me and find a babysitter for my youngest as I could not care for her. It was if I had the flu with a migraine. This drug should be researched more. It made me way too sick just to try to cure a BV infection. I would have rather had a 7 day treatment that did not cause so much sickness and disrupt my life."

Solosec (secnidazole) "I took this medication 6 days ago and am unfortunately still having a really strange side effect of feeling like I’m sucking on a sour penny all the time. My tongue is yellow and tastes horribly sour and bitter, especially after eating a meal. My doctors office has not heard of this as a side effect yet, but hopefully I’m not alone... I experienced the nausea, fatigue, and a very strange bout of (oddly painless) diarrhea on day 4 that snuck up on my out of nowhere after eating a poke bowl from a place I always eat poke from with no issues - perhaps this medication and raw fish do not mix well? Anyway. I’d never take it again due to the weird yellow tongue, bitter taste, and dry mouth. As far as the BV symptoms go, I’m not really sure if it cured it. I’ve never had BV before and I originally went in for a yeast infection and got the result of yeast and BV to treat. Good luck to everyone taking it for the first time."

Solosec (secnidazole) "Horrible taste! I did exactly as instructed. I put the granules was n yogurt. I didn’t chew, but could taste a bitter medicine. It was very hard to finish. Truly awful. I’d rather take a pill for multiple days. My doctors office really pushed this. My insurance would not pay. There is an online coupon that brought the $323 cost down to $25."

Solosec (secnidazole) "I took med 4 days ago with Chobani Yogurt and did not find the taste intolerable and finished dose in less than a minute. I started to feel nauseous the next day but did jot vomit at all. The second day, I felt very weak and no appetite all day. I found gingersnaps to calm my stomach some. Then, last two days, I have forced myself to eat as I get very weak if I don’t but have no appetite and energy levels well under par. I have not consumed any alcohol and still have nausea as others have stated. Also, the area felt somewhat irritated while I sat in a chair. I don't know if this med has effectively treated the infection but I would not opt to take this product again as it has effected normal quality of life for me."

Solosec (secnidazole) "I took this drug in December of 2018. It was disgusting tasting, which I didn't care about and I got every single one of the side effects listed. The worst part of it though is from then until this day in 2020, I have had recurring yeast infections, 3 UTIs and BV again. There has been absolutely no changes in my life that would lead to this so I'm worried the medication made this happen. So now I'm joust going to try to spread the word and hope that people read reviews BEFORE taking this medication. They should also check each of the ingredients and see if they're sensitive to any of them. It's only a few years old. Perhaps even try something more established."

Solosec (secnidazole) "When I took this medication Solosec, I mixed it in yogurt and it was absolutely disgusting but no big deal. Shortly after taking I began to get hot and had stomach pains. I hadn’t had any alcohol at all before or while taking this medicine and I was still quite nauseous to the point I almost threw up. I missed work after the first day. Two days into the medicine I break out in the worst rash on my chest, stomach, neck, arm and thigh. I suppose it’s safe to say that I am having an allergic reaction. I am on day 3 and there’s no telling what’s to come today. The medicine itself worked for my BV but I definitely won’t take this again."

Solosec (secnidazole) "So my Dr. recommended I mix it with a drinkable yogurt and it was fine. I added some honey to it just in case but it went down effortlessly. I tasted nothing nasty and all 4 ounces went down with out a single gag. I've used this for my recurring BV and its the only thing that cures it. I usually need a Diflucan a few days later so my ob/gyn just prescribes then both. Solosec then 3 days later a Diflucan. A week after the Solosec I'm back to normal. No odor or discharge to be found. And I'm a drinker who drank the day of taking it immediately before and about 2 hours after. No nausea or vomiting and it still cured my BV. After 2 years of back and forth treatments it was a blessing to find something that actually ended the issue. Now I use 1 applicator of Metrogel weekly and its been 5 months of no BV. I'm trying for a baby so its important to be able to have sex and not deal with the odor afterwards."
