For Insomnia "I've been taking rozerem for a few years now, pretty consistently. I'm surprised by the low ratings. As one other reviewer stated, this won't knock you out cold. It's a helper. I take it 30 minutes before I go to bed. By the time that 30 minutes has passed, I'm drowsy and ready to sleep. I can, and have, pushed through the drowsiness if I wanted to stay awake longer for whatever reason, and of course then it doesn't work. But if you go to bed and let it work, it does the job beautifully. I have no side effects other than feeling well rested. No hallucinations like ambien. No next-day dizziness like Lunesta. Don't know what I'd do without it. The only downside: It is crazy expensive."

Rozerem (ramelteon) for Insomnia "I have taken it at least 10 times. It is very expensive. And it worked only 1 out of the 10 doses. I am now trying to avoid caffeine and aspirin which is very difficult to do and will see if it works better. "

Rozerem (ramelteon) for Insomnia "I have tried Rozerem off and on for several months and I found it to be effective at helping me fall and stay asleep. But I'm seeing a pattern of a hang-over effect the next day that leaves me feeling very depressed and listless, which is not something that I have had with Ambien or benzos. So I'm probably gong to stop taking Rozerem."

Rozerem (ramelteon) for Insomnia "I am a day sleeper and was only sleeping about 3 hours a day and waking several times during that 3 hours when I was just taking Ambien. I have starting taking Rozerem in combination with Ambien and I am now sleeping about 6 hours a day. The first few days I felt very drowsy but that has gone away and now I feel wonderful and rested."

For Insomnia "This medication is great. For a while, I had the hardest time falling asleep and being able to sleep throughout the night while getting a full 8 hours. Now, I can fall asleep within an hour of taking the medication. I sometimes wake up during the night but can fall back asleep within minutes. For me, I do experience hangover effects and have to take a midday nap to sleep the rest of it off. Therefore, I don’t take the full pill; I take little bites out of the pill each night lol. Not taking the full pill could contribute to still waking up in the night, but I can still feel mostly rested anyways."

For Insomnia "Big zero for chronic insomnia. Extra wide awake til 6:30am, finally passed out for maybe an hour off and on. Note that if you are taking beta blockers those deplete melatonin and make it more likely this med is a big zero unless Also adding melatonin."

For Insomnia "Ideally, I like to try different supplements and medicines to understand the sleep quality. I use sleep tracker and keep journals of my sleep. Ramelteon for me is hit or miss, it has induce sleep, but it does not keep me asleep for longer less than half the time I have it. One night I have good sleep duration but the next day I sleep but wake up with weird nightmares and then cannot go back sleep. So I have step away from taking this anymore as for me as an athlete. I am going back to Ashwagandha which improve SWS and REM in my sleep and control disruptions if not make be fall asleep when I want to. I am going to try CBD isolates as an alternative. Although I don’t take this daily only when my sleep cycle was varied."

Rozerem (ramelteon) for Insomnia "Rozerem has been very effective for my sleep-onset issues with little side effect. However, some days I feel extremely tired (sleepy) throughout the day at random points. This severity of sleepiness really only seems to occur the day after I have taken Rozerem (I do not take it every night if I can help it). "

Rozerem (ramelteon) for Insomnia "I have just started on roserum and find I still wake up several times a night, however, I sleep hard in between waking up. I slept very light and almost consiously before taking it. So, I am happy with it, best of all, it is not an addictive drug or narcotic! Thank god for something that helps better than nothing and not addictive."

For Insomnia "I've been having terrible insomnia for weeks and asked my sleep doctor (neurologist) for something to help me. He prescribed this and I am incredibly disappointed, especially since I had a difficult time getting it approved by my insurance. It literally does nothing for me. I laid in bed for hours as usual and probably didn't actually sleep for more than 30-45 minutes. I took a second pill, and actually feel MORE AWAKE. I don't understand why this is even on the market."

For Insomnia "This medication made me feel like I was having a full fledged nervous breakdown. I haven’t seen anyone else post this problem. I had to stop it after a full week of going through immense mental breakdowns. I hope someone has an answer as to why. It’s not listed as a side effect. :("

For Insomnia "\My Doctor put me on this sleeping pill, yeah if that's what you want to call it. Put it this way I never remembered being asleep, but I do know the next morning all I want to do is sleep - I feel like a zombie on drugs but without sleep. They need to take this mess off the market"

For Insomnia "This is an awful drug. I took it one night. Although I slept on it with only getting up once, the side effects the next day were intolerable. I was so nauseous for days afterwards and couldn’t even drink water. It caused a hormonal balance which caused breakthrough bleeding and crying spells for hours at a time that lasted days. Who can function like that?"

For Insomnia "I've had insomnia for years. I was taking Trazadone to help me sleep ( other sedative in the past) I wanted to get off of that because of side effects of long term use and I began to try Ramelteon. I have taken it for 3 days and it horrible so far. I lay awake and then after about an hour or so I began to have extreme feelings of sleeplessness, anxious, and become extremely fidgety. I have heard you have to give this medicine a few days to work. I will try it for 2 weeks because I can only suffer for so long..wish me luck! I may pair it with some melatonin and see if that helps."

For Insomnia "As a mild sufferer of insomnia (I usually get it every 3-4 years for a few months at a time, and then it goes away), I started taking this to help taper off the low dose Mirtazapine I've been taking for 3 years (doctor's orders to get off that anti-depressant). I followed the instructions and tried for 7 to 10 days so Ramelteon could get into my system, as other reviewers mentioned. I had success with it for the first few nights - good sleep. I think that was a placebo effect because, after the first 5 days, sleepless nights came back with a vengeance. Two or three good nights and then two or three sleepless nights. My body was so tired I could barely lift a book to read before going to bed, but my brain was not turning off, and I was tossing and turning all night. I had a rapid heart rate, dry mouth, dizziness, and a migraine-like headache the following day....and still uneven sleep. After taking this for nearly a month, I am stopping it and begging my doctor for another script of Mirtazapine."

For Insomnia "This medication did work as prescribed. Unfortunately, the morning after, I would be sleepy until around noon. It also gave me depression and irritability, which are side effects. If you're not sure about the med from the other reviews, then give it a try. I just happen to be really sensitive to mental health and lethargic side effects, but overall it did work to help me sleep."

For Insomnia "Did not work for me at all in fact I felt the it made the insomnia worse. I was shocked at how expensive this drug. The first night was horrible I even called the pharmacy to see if I could return it because my copay was $80.00, so quite expensive for something that didn't work for me. They couldn't take it back, so please check to see if they can give you a couple day sample from the pharmacy before you by a 30 day supply. So I gave it 2 more tries, so 3 nights total, and had to revert back to Xanax which knocks me out because 3 days straight without sleep I was getting so frustrated and irritable Oh well back to the drawing board. Hope it works for other people :)"

For Insomnia "I started using Focalin for my ADHD in June of 2023. My insomnia worsened real bad; however, my focus and energy levels were great. I was prescribed ramelteon on November 4th. I've been taking it for just over 2 weeks. It worked the first night and has been working well every night. I feel a little less energetic during the day, but the tradeoff is worth it for me."

For Insomnia "My doctor refused to support a prescription for low-dose (5 mg) zolpidem after my insurance company would not approve its filling. Instead he prescribed 20 mg rozerem. Now my problem is not insomnia, but rather an infrequent occasion where I have not fallen asleep. For that 2.5 mg zolpidem was the perfect answer. I have now tried rozerem 5 times for the past two plus months. 1.5 hours later I am mellow, but not asleep. Moreover, I do not feel that a good night's rest results. The worst was several weeks ago where asthmatic breathing was keeping me awake. Somewhere around 11:30 I took a pill. At 1:30, I was still wired. Finally in the 4 plus range I resorted to a benadryl and somehow got about 3 hours worth."

For Insomnia "I have taken many supplements, CBD gummies, benzos etc… I don’t have any trouble falling asleep but staying asleep was horrible. It caused anxiety and stress. I have been on ramelteon for 5 months and it gives me 4 to 5 hours straight sleep and then I can fall back in about 10 min. I use the CBT-I app and I average 6.5 hours a night. I have even had up to 7 and a few times even 8 hrs. My only complaint is the very vivid and sometimes nightmares. I would say disturbing dreams. I have always been a vivid dreamer but this medication makes them more memorable and frequent. The cost is rediculously high though. I use good RX to soften the blow."

"I have Delayed Sleep Phase Disorder. My limited understanding of Ramelteon is that it affects the melatonin receptor. I guess that receptor was broken in me. Ambien doesn't do much for me because it does not attack *my* problem. My problem isn't racing thoughts/anxiety. If that's your problem, likewise ramelteon may not attack *your* problem. I spent 25 years not sleeping. Society forces me to be awake in the mornings. According to my body, that's when I should be just going to sleep. All weeks had sleepless nights. Often every other day. At my worst, I went about two weeks and slept briefly only twice. This wasn't "waking nightmare." It was "living death." On ramelteon I've slept every day except for once in the past two years. Nothing works by itself--ramelteon wouldn't put me to sleep without light therapy and avoiding tv and internet. Likewise, light therapy wouldn't put me to sleep alone."

For Insomnia "WORST experience ever! Took pill as instructed, but it would just make me feel like sleep was about to begin and then I was hit with a bout of intense anxiety, this cycle repeated all night long. These horrible side effects ended about an hour before I was supposed to wake up. HORRIBLE experience, threw all the pills away the next morning, now my MD gave me Belsomra, just read reviews about the night terrors and sleep paralysis. Only thing that really works for me is valium or xanax but doctor keeps pushing these dance meds."

For Insomnia "I took this for one week. It did not help me get to sleep at all. On the first night I was awake ALL NIGHT LONG. Second night I finally fell asleep at 3am. I had to start back on Seroquel to get to sleep at all. I have stopped taking Rozerem because by the 6th night I had an AWFUL headache. Tonight is night two without Rozerem and I am hoping that by the time I wake up tomorrow it will be out of my system and the headache will be gone."
