Preparation H Cooling Gel (phenylephrine) for Hemorrhoids "The box says: Prep. H PE GEL 'Cooling effect.' It works. It 'cools' after it burns for 5 minutes! I am not a doctor, but I think it's one of the non-medical ingredients. Other witch hazel products don't burn. Honestly, the rectal tube that comes with it is the best around! Ha-ha... If you are a large 6' man, there will be no problem. It has holes in the sides. I tried taping the 'higher' holes so it came out the tip more because it's pretty long. But good for internal piles. I use my finger very carefully with 2 dabs on my finger. It's gross to me. I am in the loo and next to a sink. I wash my hands. It's good for when I know I will be sitting for a couple of hours. Chronic piles. It does burn quite a bit. I don't know why. Recently, the piles have been so painful, I didn't notice the burn... But it does not cool right away, and the tip might be too long for you."
