Trileptal (oxcarbazepine) "I got diagnosed with Epilepsy on 7/3/15 after having 9 absence seizures in a 3 hour period. I was put on Keppra 250mg 2x/day and over the years it’s increased to 1000mg 2x/day. The seizures weren’t going away or becoming less frequent. In August 2019 I was put on Trileptal 300mg 2x/day after finding out I was also having complex partials and this pill was my miracle. I haven’t had a seizure since!"

Trileptal (oxcarbazepine) "Taking trileptal for 5 months. Female. 450mg twice a day. No seizures but memory is now horrendous and I'm so dumb and numb. Also the 5-7% chance of having a deformed baby is not worth it but I'm stuck because all the seizures meds are horrid. Also now experiencing constipation."

Trileptal (oxcarbazepine) "My son had a head injury when he was very small and started to have seizures. Scared me so much at the time. Was told it was febrile seizures at the time. Over the past 3 years he started to have these 15 seconds tremors. We went to see a neurologist and she prescribed Trileptal for him after having a MRI and EEG which both came back normal. The medicine really does help with stopping the seizures. Because of the type of epilepsy he was diagnosed with, he will probably won't stay on the meds. But for now it's a big help. Seeing a child having seizures is so hard to watch."

Trileptal (oxcarbazepine) "I was put on this drug in the early 2000’s. I was not on it very long to know if it’d helped with my seizures or not. Because after two weeks, my hearing was not rite. Everything sounded higher pitched. And I had ringing in my ears. I was taken off the drug. My hearing returned to normal. But the constant ring in my ears never went away. It’s not as loud. But in quiet environments, I hear it."

Trileptal (oxcarbazepine) "Was diagnosed with Nocturnal Focal Onset Epilepsy on June 22nd, 2020 and this medicine has been a lifesaver ever since. The only downside is that I'm having to take 2400mg Every single night all at once to control my seizures. I am a heavyset person at 360lbs so I guess that is normal. But it works and I'm able to sleep peacefully. They recently changed the design of my pills. It used to be like a peach colored oblong tablet but today when I got a refill, it was brown pills that were smaller with a easy to swallow coating which I am so happy about. And it kicked in in only 20 minutes whereas the old ones took about 45 minutes to an hour and a half to kick in."

"This medication has many side effects to it. It is just like if you were taking Tegeretol. Eats always at calcium and your bones. I've already gotten Osteoporosis from taking them. Make sure you go for Bone Density exams if you've been on it for a long time and now a high dosage. Many women I speak to go threw hair loss once they are taking more then 900mg of it. Your hair sheds out in the shower like there's no tomorrow."

Trileptal (oxcarbazepine) "Been on Trileptal now for about 5 years. I have Nocturnal seizures. Just had a breakthrough seizure during the day. First time. It was horrible. I fell and rolled down a sidewalk. Was out for 45 mins. Came to at hospital in pain from injuries. Dr. is now adding another drug. I hope and pray it works because I'm also losing all of my hair. Fixing to buy a wig."

Trileptal (oxcarbazepine) "I have been taking Trileptal for Nocturnal seizures since I was young, and aside from a few instances of breakthrough seizures believed to be caused by sleep deprivation or my levels being off due to weight gain this drug has completely controlled my seizures."

"the drug is effective in stopping partial seizures but it has many side effects mainly hair loss and thinning, interactions with several other drugs, interaction with female hormones (estrogen and progesterone), a small weight gain. my 14-year-old daughter has been taking it for 4 years, the effects started after a year, and are increasing as and when. What is the solution?"

"This drug depletes you of your stores of Niacin and in the long term causes Hyponitremia(low sodium) to dangerous levels. It causes suicidal thinking or actions in some people. Though it is relatively effective for seizures not perfect but nevertheless, it works for some. I am giving this drug only 3 stars because what I listed above has happened to me."

"This, like every other anti seizure medication I have been prescribed caused me toxic psychosis and increased the frequency of my seizures. I can take benzodiazepines for anxiety but they don't work for controlling my seizures."

"My six year old was diagnosed in July with Epilepsy due to a Partial Complex Seizure. He was put on Oxcarbazepine and told to go from 2.5ml to 5 ml. However after a month of slowly increasing we were at 4 ml twice a day when the side effects became debilitating. Headaches, migraines, tummy aches...to the point my kid could not sit in a chair due to the pain. We haven't had a seizure since, but not sure that is the meds since we are barely taking a partial dose 3ml which is under the threshold for my kid's weight. I am currently talking to the doctor to find a different med because the side effects for my kid are threatening quality of life. Additionally, my daughter HATES the taste of this medicine."

"Have come across Trileptal in the last year through my 20 year journey with Epilepsy & whilst I'm still having some shifts in my seizure quality Over this whole period of having Epilepsy all this time, the no.1 Anti-Seizure medication I found, was Keppra 1000mg twice daily. Sad part was that it had a strange way of influencing me to go & drink alcohol.... Trileptal isn't so bad"
