For Anxiety "Mirtazapine was the best decision my doctor ever made. After suffering from severe anxiety and constant panic attacks I felt like I could cope no more. My doctor prescribed me 15mg of mirtazapine and I could feel it working after a day. My anxiety has disappeared and I haven’t had any panic attacks since. The only downside is I have been extremely hungry but I would rather put on weight than feel like I did."

Remeron (mirtazapine) for Anxiety "For many years I've have been juggling medicines from Lexapro, Xanax, Zoloft, along with Lunesta for sleep. Had anxiety along with depression, couldn't sleep and was losing weight. 3 weeks ago my doctor prescribed Remeron to me and within a week I was like a new person. Depression and anxiety lessen and my sleep is great. This has been a miracle for me. Yes I am gaining weight but I needed to. My quality of life is so much better."

Remeron (mirtazapine) for Major Depressive Disorder "I read about Remeron somewhere online and asked my doctor for it. I take 30 mg daily. It helps with depression and helps me sleep. Take it right before you go to sleep. If you take it earlier, you might get hungry. Because this medicine makes food indescribably delicious. Get this drug. It will help you immensely. Good luck!"

Remeron (mirtazapine) for Insomnia "I have been on Remeron for 3.5 years. I started out on 15 mg and now currently on 30mg. I have tried every sleep medication available. This is by far the best medication I have ever been on for sleep. Yes I get the ravenous hunger and it takes about 2 hours to make me sleepy. An hour after I take it is when the hunger kicks in and I eat for the entire day before bed. I have gained about 30 lbs over the time being on it, but it has now tapered off, I hope! However, for me, sleep is so important, so it's a matter of what's more important, the perfect body or being so tired and depressed due to lack of sleep. If you start watching what you eat prior to bed, which I do now and wish I knew or realized this early on, you can help keep the weight."

For Depression "This drug destroyed my life. It completely altered my brain and turned me into a raging monster. I have no more empathy or sympathy for humans. I can no longer feel joy or love. My brain burns and I have massive flu like symptoms. I vomit all the time now because this stuff ruined my stomach lining. I have diarrhea very bad as well. I am allergic to foods and smells now. I have akathisia which is the worst pain on this planet. My brain is damaged! I cannot even believe this garbage is legal. It's worse than street drugs! It completely altered my personality! Words will never describe what I have had to endure for years because of this crap! YEARS!"

For Anxiety "I wasn't sure whether to take this. Fluoxetine and propranolol put me in the hospital, but I decided to give it a try. The first week was amazing, I felt so much better. I'm currently in menopause and experiencing menopause anxiety, which I've never had before. I'm now on week 3 and have had a few bad days, but I understand it can take up to 6 weeks to work. All I can say is that if you've tried everything else and it hasn't worked, this antidepressant does. As for the weight gain and hunger, it only lasted the first week and I don't feel like that anymore. Compared to how I felt weeks ago, when I didn't want to be here, this medication has saved my life. I highly recommend it and don't plan on stopping it anytime soon."

For Anxiety "Mirtazapine has completely eliminated my chronic anxiety. I have PTSD and panic disorder with agoraphobia. The mirtazapine has given me the chance to live life without carrying around all of the toxic anxiety I have been suffering from for decades. I'm so glad that my doctor recommended this drug."

For Major Depressive Disorder "Before taking mirtazapine, I had been on sertraline for several months, with awful side-effects. It turned me into an emotionless zombie. I didn't care about anything. They took me off when it triggered a hypomanic episode at 100mg. Mirtazapine compared to sertraline is night and day. This drug is wonderful. I started out at 7.5mg and had no initial side-effects aside from grogginess after taking it (which went away after a few weeks) and dry mouth. Upped to 15mg after the first week. I sleep soundly (vivid sometimes crazy dreams but no nightmares), and wake up feeling energized. The "dark cloud" of my depression started going away within the first couple of weeks. I have this newfound mental clarity... no more intrusive, negative thoughts and focusing on the horrible things of my past. I feel motivated and productive and joy in doing things again. I have not yet noticed any change in appetite or weight gain. Overall mirtazapine has changed my life. I love living again!!"

For Insomnia "I have always had a problem with sleeping, even as a 7-year-old. When I turned 40, the problem got so much worse, and the anxiety from not sleeping caused me not to sleep for months. My doctor prescribed mirtazapine, and I agree with a lot of comments on here that say it saved my life. I was ready to end it all... I take 15 mg per day at night and sleep like a baby. I am now 74, so I have taken this for 34 years. Every once in a while, I tell my husband that I don't need it anymore, and maybe I should quit taking it. He says let me know when you stop so I have a chance to move out!!! This is a wonder drug. My new doctor decided that I should go off this medication for whatever the reason. I was a total basket case after 3 weeks... I don't know what I'd do if they ever took this drug off the market!!"

For Anxiety "I started taking 15 mg at night about 6 weeks ago for anxiety/insomnia and mood problems. I started to feel some relief after just a few and have begun to feel a lot better as time goes on, my doctor advised me to increase my dosage to 30 mg (1 pill) after 2 weeks but I found it was too much for me and got quite overwhelmed by the way I felt whilst at work one day which was not a pleasant experience! However since going back down to half a tablet each night things have really leveled out for me! My anxiety is much much lower and I don't feel depressed at all. At present, for me the best part is being able to sleep well most nights as lack of sleep was becoming a real problem, do have to watch my food and alcohol intake but that's a good thing!"

For Anxiety "I had a nervous breakdown, wasn't sleeping or eating, huge OCD, etc., and had massive depression and anxiety. My GP prescribed Mirtazapine, my neurologist and a psychiatrist agreed this was the best option. I've now been on 15mg for a year. Although when I first started it, the settling-in period was utter hell, I couldn't leave the house, ate everything in sight, had more panic attacks and depressive episodes, more NEAD seizures, these settled down within about 6 weeks and the fog lifted somewhat. If 3 professionals hadn't agreed this was the best drug for me, I would've thrown them in the bin during that!!! However, I persevered and am much improved, although I still have a lot of anxiety, OCD, and some insomnia, I no longer sit in the pit of utter despair I was in. I keep thinking about upping my dose a bit, but the settling-in period I had when I first started then keeps putting me off! I dream every night, some very vivid and bizarre dreams."

For Insomnia "It's irresponsible for people to scream in all caps, "DON'T TAKE THIS DRUG!!!" especially after one night. ALL research supports low-dose (7.5mg) for insomnia. Anything higher is activating (there are always exceptions) on norepinephrine. Not everyone gains weight. Diet and exercise will keep the weight off if you do gain weight, just as it will without taking it. And this discussion board is for insomnia, not anxiety or depression. Low-dose for insomnia/per peer reviewed science!"

For Insomnia "It used to take me a good 3-4 hours to fall asleep at night, now it takes me around 20-30 minutes. I feel much more energised during the day and actually enjoy sleeping again. It has also helped decrease the amount of nightmares I used to have."

Remeron (mirtazapine) for Major Depressive Disorder "I was on Remeron for about 2 years before. Helped very very much with my depression. But although I often felt very sleepy near the beginning of the treatment, the massive fatigue eventually subsided to an acceptable level. 20-mins after taking it, I'm ready for bed I can't keep my eyes open no matter what. I just restarted Remeron two days ago, after more than a year being on it. As I type this, I feel fogged over, sort of sleepy, and immensely "munchie". As before when I took it, I'd find myself waking up several times a night going to raid the fridge and cabinets for munchie or sweet foods (and meats! definitely craved meat all the time). So again, on Remeron: eating again, sleeping some, more relaxed, less sad. "

For Insomnia "I have suffered from insomnia for decades to the point of job loss, self medicating with alcohol and then sleeping days at a time once I reached the point of exhaustion. On just 7.5mg of mirtazapine I am a new human! I truly believe very low dose is the way to go for insomnia. I suffer from depression and I suspect PTSD. Melatonin, nyquil, codeine, nytol, prescription sleep aids, even pain medications like tramacet had zero affect on my sleep. I could be so exhausted I was impaired and still not sleep. It has only been 7 days but on 7.5mg I have NEVER slept like this in my life. I fall asleep in minutes, I only wake a couple times a night and my energy level is at a place it has not been for 20s years. I am a new human. And oddly, I have adversely experienced a decrease in my appetite. I was a major stress over-eater and this has completely balanced me."

For Anxiety "I have been on many medications and this seems to be working the best. So far so good and only getting better. I have never really been depressed but I did feel weird and used to worry all the time and couldn't work out why (ANXIETY). I have been misdiagnosed with ADHD and BI Polar. All those medications made me worse (Zyprexa, Lovan, Lithium, Carbamazapine, Effexor). I now take 15mg of mirtazapine before bed and have accomplished more in 6 weeks then I have in years because I don't have that weird feeling hovering around me anymore. I think it would be wise for parents with "ADHD" kids to get another opinion because it could just be anxiety causing concentration problems."

For Insomnia "This pill gives me an appetite, helps my depression, helps my anxiety, and helps me sleep. I love it. I don't know what I would do without it to be honest, and if I need to be on one medication for the rest of my life this would be it. I have been on many pills and I'm normally really picky about side effects but this one is just great for me."

For Insomnia "I was given these tablets Mirtazapine 15mg because I suffer from anxiety, depression and insomnia. I slept for a whole 2 days, I obviously got up to go to the loo, but was walking into doors and door frames. I eventually came round but was left feeling very groggy and dizzy. I couldn’t possibly have driven a car and was unable to even make a meal. I still don’t feel back to normal after 3 days. Won’t be taking them again I lost a whole weekend."

For Insomnia "Have suffered insomnia and anxiety for 15 years. Slept 6 to 12 hours per week. SSRI's ineffective. Would visit Dr every 2 to 3 months and beg for 4 sleeping tablets, (I'm a brit) cos I was dizzy and almost crying with exhaustion. A new GP prescribed Mirtazipine and I have slept min 6 hours each night from the start. Feel fantastic. Colleagues notice difference, house is clean, bags of energy. PS no more horrible dreams either"

Remeron (mirtazapine) for Major Depressive Disorder "30 mg. dosage; What to possibly expect based on my experience. Day 1. I was extremely tired & if I let my head hit the pillow, I would experience micro sleep. I felt a little dizzy at times. Be careful around stairs if you suffer from vertigo. Functionality was delayed - my mind was in a cloud & it was difficult to work or concentrate on something that required deep attention. Day2. I felt hungover. Hypersensitive to sounds, meaning that my mind would abnormally jolt to a greater sense of attention to a noise than before. The dizziness remained but at a decreased level. Day 3. Almost normal; just slightly tired."

Remeron (mirtazapine) for Anxiety "After 4 LONG years of "experimenting" with Lexapro, Paxil and benzos on and off with my regular MD, I decided to see a Psychiatrist that's very popular in my city. I told him my symptoms and that I was also going through Ativan tolerance withdrawal. He prescribed me Remeron and agreed to wean me off the Ativan properly. I don't know why my regular MD didn't try this miracle medicine on me! GRR!! This changed me overnight. It has STOPPED my nervous stomach and I'm eating again. I sleep good too. A few side effects would be the flashing lights you see when you close your eyes the 1st night I took it, and restless legs and vivid dreams but those are slowly disappearing. This medicine has helped me drastically."
