Lactaid (lactase) for Lactose Intolerance "I developed lactose intolerance as I got older. I have given up most dairy but on the occasions when I want cheese with my sandwich, I take 1-2 Lactaid pills before I eat. Most of the time Lactaid prevents the explosive diarrhea that dairy triggers. I haven't had any side effects. Without Lactaid, I wouldn't be able to eat dairy unless I was near a bathroom. My experience has been very positive."

For Lactose Intolerance "I first tried this 6 years ago. Two hours after taking Lactaid I was vomiting with diarrhea at my daughter's house. I didn't even connect the two. Just assumed it was something I ate, not necessarily from dairy. Two weeks later I tried taking it before my lunch at work. Within the hour I was vomiting. I wondered if it was the Lactaid but thought that was impossible. Fast forward 4 years and I decided to try again because my lactose intolerance was getting worse. Nope. Same symptoms. So a few days ago I ordered a different brand of digestive enzymes. Lactace is in this one. I tried this afternoon. I am now severely nauseous with stomach pain. I happened to have some zofran on hand so I took it and hopefully I won't vomit! Never again! The "cure" is worse that the disease!"

Lactaid (lactase) for Lactose Intolerance "This is my second time trying this pill. The first, was about ten years ago. Therefore, I brushed the side effects to the side and thought it was just me. This time, I took two pills and all I can say is that I will never try them again! Maybe it’s just me but I vomited, had diarrhea and my stomach hurt for hours. I prayed to the porcelain Queen like no other. All I wanted was a mini bar of ice cream but after feeling so bad, I’d rather deal with the side effects from having the ice cream."

Lactaid (lactase) for Lactose Intolerance "I enjoy the Lactaid vanilla chewables before icecream and cheese (other than cheddar which I can eat no problem without it and Greek yogurt). I am not saying it's perfect but I don't get the constipation and bloating I usually experience without it. I take 1-2 tablets immediately before the first bite. No issues."

For Lactose Intolerance "I thought I was crazy but after reading the comments I see that I am not alone . They say that there is no side effect for this product .... tried different brands and they all made me very sick. I was vomiting and having diarrhea for the whole night (3 différent times before I realized it was the pills). It felt exactly like a gastroenteritis."

Lactaid Fast Act (lactase) for Lactose Intolerance "I have taken this pill 3 separate times. Every time I have taken this I have severe cramps and diarrhea. HORRIBLE DIARRHEA!!!! The first two times I took this I thought it was something I ate that was bad. Now the third time dealing with this I know that it’s the pills. When my stomach wakes me up in the Middle of the night so I can spend an hour in the bathroom is not fun. It usually lasts for 24 hours but it’s embarrassing to tell my boss I can’t come in Because I’m on the toilet. Never again will I take these and I would never recommend them."

For Lactose Intolerance "I’ve used Lactaid before and can’t remember having symptoms from it. I recently went on vacation and decided to buy some in case I ended up having any dairy. Looking back at just a couple days ago I understand why my stomach hurt and why I was nauseous. Today I had just a little bit of cheese and decided to take a Lactaid. I all of a sudden felt nauseous and had stomach cramps. I went on a walk and my cramps wouldn’t go away. I was getting chills and almost some cold sweats. Then, the diarrhea..It didn’t add up that my stomach would hurt that bad from half a slice of cheese. It sounds like so many people have experienced similar symptoms. I won’t be taking this again..I have tried the Equate brand and I don’t remember ever having issues so I’m curious if there’s a difference in ingredients causing this problem. I’m too scared to try again now!"

Lactaid (lactase) for Lactose Intolerance "This made me so much sicker than the discomfort I experience from eating dairy. Twice now I've ended up with overwhelming nausea, vomiting, and diarrhea. I only figured it out because both of these happened after using lactaid. There's no warning on the box at all, but trust me it's horrible. It takes about 3 days to feel better."

Lactaid (lactase) for Lactose Intolerance "Worst experience of my life. When I turned 30 I started becoming lactose intolerant. When I was 37 I thought I would try Lactaid to try and see if I could eat dairy again without issue. I had severe stomach pain and vomiting. It was that screaming type of vomiting. The pain was so bad I had thought my gallbladder burst. I didn’t think it was the pills and though something was wrong with me. Things settled down the next day so after a week of no issues I figured it was a stomach bug so I popped a lactaid and had two slices of pizza. It was worse than the first time. The pain became so intense I was rushed to the hospital. I was gripping the bed rail from how severe the pain was. The had to give me a pain medication through an IV to get it to stop. Saw a doctor and I had multiple tests done to check my gallbladder. Nothing seemed wrong. Then I thought to look up the Lactaid. I was amazed how many people had severe reactions to this stuff. Stay away from it."

Lactaid Fast Act (lactase) for Lactose Intolerance "I took one Lactaid Fast Act pill, one time. Never again. I was extremely nauseous for the whole rest of the day. It was awful. I almost left work early because I didn’t trust myself not to get sick at any moment. I am not going through that again!"

Lactaid (lactase) for Lactose Intolerance "This is the second time I used Lactaid. OMG did I get Sick! Within one hour of taking it I was having diarrhea. Then came sever vomiting! Had no time to lift up my toilet seat! What a Freaken Mess! I was sooo thirsty but each time I drank water back to hugging the toilet I went! Had chills & low grade fever. I have no idea why this reacted the way it did but I will never take it again! PS. I finally discovered why I had gotten sick over my sisters house a month ago. Thought I had a 24 hour bug. But finding out today it was the Lactaid she gave me!"

For Lactose Intolerance "I so, so wish I read these experiences. Have taken this maybe 3 times in attempt to get less gas and bloating with a bowl of ice cream. The 3rd time, a few hours after dose, I was asleep and woke up to gnarly stomach cramps. Soaked in sweat, pale-green, gagging with nausea during diarrhea. Really horrible. Very dizzy, thought I would pass out. Never again. These pills always gave me weird stomach feelings but I attributed it to the little bit of dairy. Nope, I’d much rather some gas pains lol."

For Lactose Intolerance "Lactaid destroyed me. I was really looking forward to enjoying dairy but unfortunately the pills caused a non-stop purge (at work no less) that lasted hours. I was so nauseous that I literally couldn’t move without being sick. I have been super ill both times that I’ve taken the pills."

Lactaid (lactase) for Lactose Intolerance "I agree with previous reviewers, this product Lactaid should be reported to the FDA. As I've gotten older I seem to have trouble digesting some cheeses. Last night, we had cheese omelettes. I decided to try a Lactaid chewable. Three hours later I felt so ill overall and then vomited for an hour. I had this same effect about 4 years ago when I tried Lactaid but stupidly decided to try it again. People need to be warned about this."

Lactaid (lactase) for Lactose Intolerance "I decided to try Lactaid for my lactose intolerance. I took one dose, 3 caplets, with cheese cake; as directed. Within 1/2 hour I broke out in a rash/hives on my forearms; completely covering the tops/sides of them. That was 48 hours ago and the hives haven’t subsided. It looks like I have a raised severe itchy sunburn!"

Lactaid (lactase) for Lactose Intolerance "I have been taking lactaid enzyme tablets for over 30 years made from different manufacturers. I get a lot of gas from milk products. The tablets have controlled the gas with no side effects. I only buy whole lactaid milk. I use the milk anytime where regular milk is used. Lactaid tablets or milk do not work for my brother. I have to take twice the normal directed dose for the pills to work for me. The price is high taking twice the dose therefore, 9/10 rating."

Lactaid (lactase) for Lactose Intolerance "My oldest daughter has experienced issues when having ice cream or dairy for a while. The problem is, she is her mother’s child; we like Dairy Queen and we can’t say no to a Blizzard. I gave her these pills about a month ago, and before we could even get in the door, she was running to the bathroom. I remember thinking that her issues were worse with the pills than usual, but my husband talked me out of that thought process. Fast forward to last night, and I decided to give her the full dose, because that could have been the issue last time; I only gave half a dose because I was just starting to use it. Full dose equals FULL misery. My poor baby, once again, could barely get in the door before having to run to the bathroom. Thank goodness I had Zofran, but she’s miserable. It’s been 24 hours, and her stomach is still hurting and she’s still in the bed. This stuff is AWFUL!!!!!! From now on, I think we will just go back to Tums and Famotadine 30 minutes before ice cream."

Lactaid Fast Act (lactase) for Lactose Intolerance "I took the chewable lactaids on 3 occasions. The first time, I had to miss work for the remainder of the day as I was vomiting non-stop. Next time the same. The 3rd and last time, I ended up in the ER, I was in pain, fever, diarrhea and vomiting at the same time. My wife was the one who recalled that all 3 times I was sick, it was when I used Lactaid Fast Act chewable tablets. NEVER AGAIN. I did not believe it so I tried eating the cheese I had that night without Lactaid, and I did not have any symptoms except the usual bloating I get from lactose. I prefer bloating than spending a night hooked to the intraveinous fluids thing."

For Lactose Intolerance "I would not recommend Lactase to anybody!! I had taken these pills a couple of times and felt fine but the third time I have taken these I am VIOLENTLY ill. I have never thrown up like this and had such bad abdominal cramping and diarrhea. I thought it was caused by the dairy I ate although I had never thrown up from my intolerance before, but after reading several other reviews on here I know it is the pills that caused this. I have no idea what is in these causing so many people to feel this way but I would WAY rather take my symptoms of bloating and indigestion compared to the pain these pills brought me."

For Lactose Intolerance "Like most everyone has stated I had nausea and vomiting after taking Lactaid. Here is the interesting part of my tale: I actually used it successfully about 4-5 times. I took it before enjoying dairy and had no symptoms. ZERO. Then one lovely evening while enjoying some cheese and wine I became nauseous and violently ill. Shakes, chills, and up comes all of the food I ate for about the last 90 minutes. Well I must have eaten something that was bad. I ate regular non-dairy food and no problems. OK well then let’s test the ‘wine’ issue-had wine with vegan food and ZERO problems. YAY. I guess it’s just a one off. Well last night I was chomping on lactaid like MM’s to keep up with cheese consumption of the night with wine. OMG-even faster of a response of nausea, chills, and vomiting. I thought I was crazy. I never thought a simple enzyme to help digest lactose would be the culprit and WALLAH! I will be shipping my lactaid pills to a friend who can take it no problem."

Lactaid Extra Strength (lactase) for Lactose Intolerance "I have been noticing a gradual increase in my sensitivity to dairy. I decided I was going to try Lactaid to see the effect. The first time it seemed fine. So I started using them when I would have a large amount of dairy. This last week I used them 5 out of 7 days and my stomach starting feeling worse and worse each day. Yesterday, I have urgent bowel movements, which have continued almost 24 hours later and have had the worst stomach ache. I will not be taking these again."

For Lactose Intolerance "I had taken this medication on 2 separate occasions. Both time I started throwing up so much that I had blood coming up because I ran out of everything else. I had to be taken to urgent care and get IV fluids and about 10 warm blankets before I started to feel normal again. I would rather deal with the symptoms than have take lactase ever again."

For Lactose Intolerance "I tried this pill (Walmart Equate brand) on the advice of a friend who heard about it but hadn’t used them herself. I tried them for the first time last Thursday right before I went to a hockey game. Within 2 hours I was extremely violently ill! I’ve never vomited like this in my life. I threw up for hours and then came the diarrhea. It was so painful and maybe one of the worst experiences of my life. I couldn’t eat for about 24 hours. Today, 3 days later, I took two pills before having milk. Here I am now, 2 hours later, vomiting again! I do not recommend this product."

Lactaid Fast Act (lactase) for Lactose Intolerance "Suspected I was lactose intolerant so I cut out dairy: Got nostalgic of ice-cream and other dairy treats real quick: Gave Lactaid a try at the recommendation of friends and doctor. Several times felt like I was dying. I was up sweating all night with severe stomach pain, felt like my intestines were being wrung into a knot, and prayed for diarrhea: which eventually did come and didn't stop for an hour. This happened to me several times on separate occasions until it dawned on me it could be the lactaid pills. I never took these horrible things again and I’ve never had the issue reoccur. I’d rather yolo a bowl of ice-cream and let the lactose intolerance run it’s course than suffer the immense pain these lactose pills caused me."
