For Birth Control "I have been on birth control since 13 years old because of extremely painful and long periods. My doctor started me out on Microgestin, then my pharmacy switched me to Junel. Neither gave me side effects from what I could tell. Then, not long ago, I got switched to Blisovi. For months I've been feeling extreme, paralyzing anxiety and the darkest depression I've ever experienced (and I've struggled with depression and anxiety for as long as I can remember). So I'm getting off of it. No period pain is worse than the anxiety and depression I have been experiencing. If you struggle with depression or anxiety please stay off this medicine. Try Microgestin instead but don't believe that these two medications are comparable."

For Birth Control "This BC is horrible! I realized I was getting depressed everyday and my mood swings are bad. I was starting to think iIwas bipolar but after reading similar reviews I know I'm not crazy - it is just the Blisovi"

For Birth Control "I was put on this pill in October of 2017 after I changed insurance providers. Ever since I have started this pill I have been anxious, on edge, irritable, and overly emotional. I am surprised my boyfriend hasn't left me! I am angry all of the time, I am constantly panicking, I cry over EVERYTHING (really, everything; sunsets, children playing, dogs, people smiling) which is terrible. I thought that it might have something to do with the fact that I am a grad student and I am incredibly busy and have a lot of stress, but I went on vacation last week and accidentally forgot my BC pills. After about 2 days without Blisovi Fe I felt as if a giant weight was lifted off of my chest. I could finally breathe without feeling like the whole world is going to cave in on me. I wasn't irritable or annoyed the entire trip. I am so upset that it took me this long to realize that the hell that I have been going through was all due to this stupid pink pill."

For Birth Control "Have been on microgestin for years. One day the pharmacy just said they didn’t have any but this one is “totally the same thing.” Absolutely not. The whole month I’ve taken this pill I have been extremely exhausted non stop, have felt nauseous every day, have had awful stomach pains for a week leading up to my period and every little thing annoys or makes me sad. After reading the reviews it’s obviously not only me that has experienced these side effects. Haven’t gotten pregnant so that’s the reason for the couple of stars I gave this pill. Would not recommend. Anyone who’s been on microgestin please know this is NOT the same and will make you feel different."

For Birth Control "Although I have not been on this birth control long, I have had no major problems. I was nervous starting this birth control for one reason being I’ve never taken birth control before, another reason is that the reviews were so bad. Within the first week of taking it my skin has looked really clear, my usual bloating has gone away, and I have had no major issues that made me scared to take this birth control at first. I have been slightly more emotional and Another side effect I have is my stomach issues, I either feel not hungry sometimes or I have diarrhea but it’s nothing as bad as some other women have been through. It will take some time for my body to start getting used to this. Overall I was skeptical of this but it works for me, but I know everyone’s body will react to it differently. Hope you it works for everyone!!"

For Birth Control "Terrible! Like so many others on this thread, I've gained weight, couldn't control my anxiety, and the bloating was insane! I couldn't figure out what was wrong with me. It wasn't until there was a mix up with my doctors and was off it for less than a week, did my appetite go back to normal, bloating down ( sometimes I would look 5 months pregnant) and anxiety lessened immensely. I thought I was just gaining weight due to being in a new relationship. I wish I read these reviews before I started this pill a year and a half ago! Never again would I ever take this pill. They should discontinue it."

For Birth Control "I took this birth control pill for about a year, and it caused incredible amounts of nausea for me. My body would attempt to reject it by curbing my eating habits because when I took it without food I would throw up about 5 times every 20-30 minutes in the middle of the night. If I ate something small, such as a banana, I would begin to feel nauseous about 4 hours later. It did help prevent pregnancy, but many times I used back up methods because there were many times I didn’t want to take it because of the vomiting. I also had severe mood swings, mainly resulting in irrational anger. I do consider myself someone who is more prone to anger and mood swings, but never in the way this birth control made them."

For Birth Control "I started taking Microgestin in 2014, and just this year in March I went to pick up another pack and was told they no longer had it, but they gave me a new bc Blisovi and assured me it was exactly the same. Well, it’s not. My anxiety has been at an all time high, as well as my depression. I have gained 15 pounds just from taking this pill from March-August. This pill has made my life awful, I am always so nauseas and irritated. Would not recommend whatsoever."

For Birth Control "This birth control is probably the worst I’ve taken. I used to be on Microgestin and was switched, and upon taking my first couple pills, suffered horrible nausea. A little nausea is normal for me, but the nausea was so bad I could barely move and was vomiting all day. It also made me break out all over my chin, and I couldn’t get it to clear up."

For Birth Control "Got on here to read reviews and realized I’m not crazy! This medication has literally made me so irritable and mean. I have anxiety about everything and don’t want to do anything but lay around. It’s caused me to push so many people away from me!"

"I used to be on Apri and switched to this Blisovie Fe 1.5/30 birth control because I was having breakthrough bleeding. I had never switched birth controls before. When switching initially, I had no side effects. I actually liked it for the first month. It stopped the break through bleeding. However, over the next few months (6 to be exact) I noticed I was SO hormonal, crying to angry to anxious to depressed over the smallest things. Things I would never get depressed about before. I also developed hormonal cystic acne around my jawline and on my back which I had never experienced before. Just recently switched back to Apri, I’ll take the breakthrough bleeding over all of this lol"

For Birth Control "I got this birth control through the app Nurx and I thought it was the coolest fastest way to get birth control. I was on microgestin before this pill and everything was fine. Since getting this pill I’ve noticed my anxiety sky rocket, mild depression and I cry so much for every little thing and my moods are just off the charts. I can be totally fine one moment then something sets me off. And I feel angry most of the time. I thought this was only me but now everything makes sense. I think I’ll stop taking this pill. I do not recommend."

For Birth Control "My insurance company tried to get my pharmacist to switch my prescription to Blisovi even though I am a long term happy Microgestin user. As many of you know, switching birth controls (even ones that are supposed to be medically equivalent) can result in a lot of side effects which I did not want to risk. I called the pharmacist and asked her to switch back the prescription even if it had to be ordered. She then checked and found the Microgestin is covered by my insurance in the first place! The switch occurred because Blisovi is cheaper and my insurance company wanted to save money. While I think its reprehensible that insurance is ever involved in the drug decision-making, DO NOT LET THEM SWITCH YOUR MEDICATIONS WITHOUT YOUR PERMISSION. With the Affordable Care Act most generic birth controls are covered by insurance including Microgestin. I found checking prescriptions online before traveling to the pharmacy helps a lot, so you are not rushed to a decision."

For Birth Control "I started taking Blisovi Fe 1.5/30 because my periods were so heavy and painful. The only positive thing this medication has done is pretty much taken away my period cramps and made my actual period so light I only needed a liner. I’ve been on it for two months, but I’m going to switch to a more mild birth control because MY BOOBS ARE KILLING ME! For the past week are so, I can’t even sleep on my stomach! This has never happened to me before. They’re also swollen. It made my acne much worse as well, and I’m getting random cramps at night."

For Birth Control "I had been taking Microgestin for 10 years (I didn't have a period, I didn't have cramp), when out of nowhere my pharmacy filled my script with Blisovi. For the first 3 months, I didn't notice anything.. UNTIL I had a period for the first time in 10 years, and I started to get the worst cramps that would last 2 weeks. I also started to get the worst cystic acne on my jaw line, neck, and around my mouth. My gynecologist had to write a new script that specifically spelled out "microgestin brand name only to be filled". Long story short... These two birth controls are NOT the same."

For Birth Control "I’ve been on Blisolvi for a year and a half. Within one year, I went from 128 to 140 pounds despite eating a plant based diet and exercising every day! For reference, I typically only gain 1-3 pounds a year at most! It has prevented pregnancy and helped my cramps but after reading these experiences I’m wondering if my acid reflux and anxiety has been worsened by Blisolvi. I have recently been put on Nexium to control my acid reflux and I’m only 23 years old! It has never been as bad as it has been this past year and a half. I have also had random bouts of depression, major anxiety, and began getting strong and painful headaches this year. The only reason I want to continue Blisolvi is because it has cleared my acne up after struggling with acne since 13 and it has prevented pregnancy but the extreme weight gain is really weighing down my confidence especially because my everyday cardio doesn’t seem to lower my weight .."

For Birth Control "It’s been two months since I’ve been on this new birth control. The first month I didn’t really have any side effects other then my acne flaring up and a super light period. The second month my acne calmed down, and my period was a little heavier but here comes the side effects. I started having horrible nightmares, and waking up drenched in sweat. I would have hot flashes all through the day, and I was extremely tired. My anxiety was high and I had mood swings. I couldn’t figure out what was wrong with me, I wanted to go to the ER because I felt like I could barely breathe, and the hot flashes were so intense I was scared I was going to pass out. I realized it was the birth control! I was skeptical of these bad reviews from people when I researched the pill before taking it, but sadly it’s true! Horrible experience. I gave 2 stars because my acne did clear up a bit and it prevented pregnancy."

For Birth Control "I have been taking Blisovi for two months, only because Microgestin is no longer available at my pharmacy. As they often do, the pharmacist assured me this generic was "exactly the same" as Microgestin. Within the past two months, a dark line has appeared around my lips, I have been EXTREMELY emotional, my anxiety has been at an all-time high for no reason, my sex drive has plummeted, and I've gained 3 pounds (not an alarming amount, but I work out religiously, and my weight has always been very consistent). I'm not entirely sure what I'm going to do, but I am NOT taking Blisovi any more. For those of you reading this who take Blisovi are feeling the same way: you're not crazy, and you're not alone. If anyone is reading this and considering starting Blisovi: do yourself a favor and stay far far away."

For Birth Control "I’ve been on the Blisovi pill for 7 months now and it recently got bad. I started the pill due to my very long and irregular periods. At first it seemed as if nothing had changed but then over time my periods shortened and have been the most painful they have ever been. I’m still very irregular and still having painful cramps (that kept me up all night) as well as my emotions, that have gone through the roof. Crying every night, bad mood swings and weight loss( I was already 10 pounds underweight). I’m constantly angry at the people I love for no reason and the only explanation is the pill. My acne was never really bad but I did find that my chest and back broke out more than usual. I plan to stop taking this!!!"

For Birth Control "I got switched to this somehow in the transition to Nurx, and my pharmacy gave me this- I'm still trying to sort it out and not blaming anyone. I had been a couple of days without birth control because my old prescription, Lo Loestrin which I love and have taken for years, had expired. So I started taking this anyway since I'd been without. I've been taking it for two weeks and my skin on my chest and back has broken out with acne. I haven't experienced this since teen years. My breasts have been swollen and tender and I swear I feel like I've gained 5-7 pounds. I'm also getting cramps that have disrupted me sleeping. I wasn't expecting this medicine to be any different from my Lo Estrin but it's awful. I had actually forgotten how bad the wrong birth control can mess with you. I'm trying to sort out my prescription and have stopped taking this. Thank goodness my husband has had a vasectomy. I take bc because it causes me not not have periods and regulates hormonal fluctuations."

For Birth Control "This is the first birth control I have ever taken due to everyone was telling me how bad it is and all the false thing they tell you ! I had my 4th baby in January of 17, and I started taking BlisoviFe 1.5/30 the first two months was bad cause I had migraines in the middle where my period were supposed to happen and it did it was normal but I never had a headache like that since I was a child.. I said to my husband I'm gonna try next month and see what happens he told me to get off of it cause he could bare me see the way I was but I got used to it. I feel just like I did before .. i have normal period, no headache , no weight gain.. nothing !"

For Acne "I started birth control 6 weeks ago (one month 2 weeks) hoping it would help with my acne, heaviness of my flow, and cramps. So far I’ve had my period 3 times this month lasting around 1-3 days. Before I started birth control I didn’t have bad skin, just breakouts when my menstrual cycle began. Ever since starting birth control I’ve had so many breakouts, to the point where I don’t want to be seen. Yes my acne isn’t as bad as others, but it’s still bothersome, when I went on this medication to fix this problem."

For Birth Control "I want to thank all the other women coming forward about the horrible side effects of being switched from regular microgestin to this medicine by the pharmacist. I hadn’t pieced this all together: why the immense anger, anxiety, sleeplessness, swelling in my legs & 22lbs of weight gain in 4 months after being about the same weight for 5 years! It’s been a horrible 18 months for me. This month, I opted to skip birth control to see if it helped the bloating & moods swings and it did. I peed all the time lost tons of water weight, slept through the night and could button my jeans again. I went to start my birth control today, the Blisovi, I hesitated & decided to do some research and found all of these voices. I am exhausted by our struggles and doctors saying all generics are the same. Stick with microgestin and if you are one of the new users who thinks it’s great, track your weight, mood and sleep over at least 6 months and see if you don’t notice a change."
