Zovia 1/35E (ethinyl estradiol / ethynodiol) for Birth Control "This is my first birth control. When I first got on, I got acne really bad on the side of my face and also I got cramps really bad. But now about 3 months later, that does not happen anymore and it keeps my face pretty clear, except when my period is about to start, I sometimes get a pimple or two. But what I did notice is that I have really really bad mood swings every time my period is about to start, I don't know why. Just try it for yourself!"

Zovia 1/35E (ethinyl estradiol / ethynodiol) for Birth Control "I was on Zovia for 3 months, and had side effects from the start. In the first month, I had a weight gain of 8 pounds. It caused a lot of nausea. It made me severely depressed. I'm switching to Nordette. On the positive side, it did regulate my extremely irregular periods."

For Birth Control "My 19 year old daughter took this medication for 1 month and it was the worst month of her life. She experienced severe migraine headaches that were totally debilitating. The left side of her mouth, face, and arm would go numb and her chest would tighten up. We will be calling her doctor and switching to something else."

Zovia 1/35E (ethinyl estradiol / ethynodiol) for Birth Control "I have been on this pill for almost a year now. I take it continuously as to not have periods due to my endometriosis. It was a wonderful pill with virtually no side effects until four months ago. I have breakthrough bleeding that lasted for 5 days. The next month I had breakthrough bleeding that lasted 4 days. The next month I had horrible pain but no bleeding. And finally this month (month 4) I have had excruciating pain and have been bleeding for 2 days so far. The pain is terrible and almost as bad as when I'm not on birth control. I'm going to my doctor to get switched. I would recommend this to anyone who was going on birth control for a short time but not any longer than 6 months."

Zovia 1/35E (ethinyl estradiol / ethynodiol) for Birth Control "I've been very happy with the results: no unplanned pregnancies, consistent weight, very little mood swings, no acne, etc. I'm over 30, used Zovia for over 10 years and no big complaints. For a period of time my insurance didn't cover this formulary so I switched to another and while on that I noticed severe mood swings. As soon as I found out Zovia was covered again I requested my Doctor put me back on it and I felt much better immediately. However, the last few months I've noticed the week prior and during my period craving a lot more sweets. I don't know if they've made some changes to it recently or if its an increase in stress or my age influencing hormones & metabolism, but I don't feel the same."

Kelnor 1/35 (ethinyl estradiol / ethynodiol) for Birth Control "Zovia 1/50 was the only brand of contraceptive pill I took for 9 years and switched to Kelnor 1/35 2 years ago. The reason they lowered the estrogen being my body changed and I had less excessive hair growth. About a year into Kelnor I began getting “menstrual” cramps even on the active pills. My GYN said that’s normal when you’ve been on the same brand of Birth Control pill for a decade, my body is TOO accustomed to the hormones in Kelnor :( so this pill isn’t effective for me anymore..I ovulated when I’m not supposed to! I’m saddened to have to be switched to Apri, I was saved for over a decade by Zovia/kelnor. This BC Pill saved my life and helped me feel more normal, I’d highly recommend Kelnor!! Some of these reviews are of a scary experience with Kelnor, the risk of blood clots is RARE. If you don’t smoke, are under age 35 and have no underlying medical condition it reduces the chances. I was on 50 mg of estrogen for a long period and I had zero issues with it."

Zovia 1/35E (ethinyl estradiol / ethynodiol) for Birth Control "I started my period in 5th grade in August 2005 and was on it EVERY. SINGLE. DAY. With no breaks at all some days were so heavy that I couldn't leave the toilet if I took a bath the moment I got in the water was pure red and many years later I found out that my period was literally literally so bad for me by causing severe anemia. I didn't start birth control until 7th grade and at that time I was on the necon tabs which were some what helpful though they took about 2 and half years to finally give me an actual break from bleeding instead of just lessening the flow. I ended up having to take zovia when my insurance stop covering the necon tabs unfortunately I was not aware of the change they didn't contact me or my Dr before changing my prescription. I only took the Zovia for a month in January of 2018 and I HAVEN'T HAD A NATURAL PERIOD AT ALL in the past 2 years I have to take progesterone to start my period because I am now at serious risk of cervical cancer due to my lack of period from this drug"

Zovia 1/35E (ethinyl estradiol / ethynodiol) for Birth Control "I've been using it for a month and so far I like it. I switched from Mononessa because Mononessa was making me break out and I still would bleed heavily on it. My doctor switched me and now my periods are so so light. My first period on it started a couple of days ago and I was actually scared that it was implantation bleeding because it was so light. My acne has decreased so that is definitely a bonus. I do feel like my breasts are bigger (and being only 120lbs this was a plus for me). There is one thing I'm worried about. My weight fluctuates between 117-123... I have felt like my lower abdomen is full but not bloated. I'm active but the full feeling in the bladder makes me feel a little self conscious. Maybe that will go away soon though."

For Birth Control "I got on this pill for hormonal acne and it did a decent job at clearing my skin. It didn't really ever take it away. The reason I had to get off this pill was because I gained 10 pounds on it of fat. At first I thought it was water retention so I just trusted that it would go away but as soon as I got off it the weight didn't go away so now I have to diet and exercise and its sucks. All I could think about was food because of the high estrogen content in the pill. If you're trying to get rid of acne and are concerned about weight gain don't get on this birth control. Get on a birth control like yaz . yaz wont cause weight gain and cravings because it has low estrogen. The only downside to yaz is that you'll experience PMS more."

Zovia 1/35E (ethinyl estradiol / ethynodiol) for Birth Control "Had been on this medicine for a couple of years but then realized it was making my skin worse, major cravings, and weight gain with a lot of bloating. I would always feel super nauseous when starting the pill at the beginning of the month and would sometimes vomit. I do not recommend this brand. Basically had all of the side effects."

For Birth Control "This is the 6th pill I've tried. I just finished my 3rd pack and plan on continuing this. So far - no weight gain I'm aware of, no spotting in between periods, periods are about 4 days long and pretty mild. I'll get one small pimple on my chin during the period week but that's about it. I do get pretty moody during the beginning of the period week as well. Throughout the month my moods are pretty stable. And I do feel a bit hungrier on this compared to past pills. But I work out and try to eat healthy so I don't gain weight or give into cravings. This is a HUGE improvement from past pills. I used to be moody, spotted in between, had awful cramps, and broke out insanely in majority of the other pills I was on. Let's hope this keeps working!"

Demulen (ethinyl estradiol / ethynodiol) for Birth Control "Demulen 1/35-28day pills were my 1st birth control pill ever! I took them from 1991-1996 and honestly it wasn't a bad pill. I remember I had occasional breakouts (made my skin oily), PMS was ok but I had a heavy period and that I hated."

Zovia 1/35E (ethinyl estradiol / ethynodiol) for Birth Control "I started this birth control pill 12 days ago. I'm 18 years old and take it for bad cramps and excessive bleeding. Ever since I started it I've had extremely debilitating nausea, anxiety, and loss of appetite. I stopped taking it yesterday in hopes of the terrible nausea ending. The nausea spread from my shoulders to the bottom of my sternum. I had anxiety attacks for no reason. I would not recommend this medication."

Zovia 1/35E (ethinyl estradiol / ethynodiol) for Birth Control "This birth control made me extremely emotional! I'm 32 and my life was fine before I got on this pill only 2 months ago. I started flashing out on my boyfriend and have even gained about 5 pounds. I'm finishing the pack and moving on to something else. Meds are not supposed to decrease quality of life."

Zovia 1/35E (ethinyl estradiol / ethynodiol) for Birth Control "Was on Zovia 1/35 for 7 years and experience was great and that rating would have been a 10. However, the manufacturer used to be Watson (pink packet), but now it is manufactured by Mayne (blue packet), which I give a 3 rating. I only took the Zovia pills manufactured by Mayne for 5 days. I stopped taking because I started to get acne and each day I was getting more pimples. I am not acne prone and the previous Zovia pills by Watson did not break me out. Now I am on Kelnor, which supposed to be similar to Zovia (both are generic for Demulen) however now my periods last about 8 days and I get small bumps on my face that clear up for a few days then reappear in different locations. So Kelnor is rated a 6."

Zovia 1/35E (ethinyl estradiol / ethynodiol) for Birth Control "I've been using Zovia for about almost four months now and so far I think it's been wonderful, besides a few things. This was my first time ever trying birth control and I wasn't to sure about it. When I first started Zovia my first month was great no side affects or anything. Then my second month came and that's when everything went down hill. I started to get bad cramps, was very depressed, and was always throwing up. Also, my periods have actually gotten heavier and still last a full week. Till this day I still throw up every month one day out of my second/third week before my period. I still experience some depression but other than that my cramps and everything else have gone away."

Kelnor 1/50 (ethinyl estradiol / ethynodiol) for Birth Control "I was on Kelnor 1/50 for several years. At first it was the only birth control that kept my skin clear 100% of the time and I loved it. After awhile I just got sick of being on birth control in general and thought going off might improve my mental health. After 6 months off it I never got my period back and have an ovarian cyst, I gained weight and I have so much acne. I’m definitely going back to birth control but this time I’m getting on the patch so I don’t have to take a pill every day. If the patch doesn’t work for me I will be going back on my beloved Kelnor 50. Honestly I didn’t have too many symptoms on it and it worked well for years."

For Birth Control "20 years old no kids, started this pill when I was 17 after nexplanon and different pills gave me awful bleeding and spotting. The high estrogen content in this pill still those issues. However, years later I have depression that I never had before, went from 117 lbs to 127, and have no energy, and it raised my blood pressure. A benefit of this pill is that I didn’t get pregnant and it was my only form of birth control. Last week I got a copper iud inserted because I want to stop the hormones. I enjoyed this pill in the beginning, however over time it turns you into a different person."

Zovia 1/35E (ethinyl estradiol / ethynodiol) for Birth Control "For me I’ve been on Zovia starting 7 months today , I’ve had pretty bad side affects but I don’t completely blame it on the pill itself. It’s helped cleared my acne and I have oily skin so it didn’t dry it out, I've lost weight (could be from other things though) and my hips have gotten wider but losing weight. The side affects I had were nausea , headaches, and other regular symptoms although I’m used to them since they’re hereditary for my family and i’ve always had really bad symptoms on my period. I got prescribed this for my periods because of how bad they were and they’ve reduced bleeding a lot. I only have little bleeding and spotting now, I’m just nervous because iIve never really been sexually active and I’m not sure how good this is going to work for that reason."
