For Opioid Use Disorder "I have been on 12 mls of methadone for over a year so I give subutex a go, the first day I had 4mg and felt ok, not great but better then I expected. Day 2: 6mg I feel rough as hell, I want to cry all the time and it feels like I'm crawling out of my skin. Day 3: still feel bad does anyone know how long this will last my keyworker keeps saying I should not be worried but I know how I feel bad"

For Opioid Use Disorder "I commend everyone on here for wanting to change their lives from the misery of opiate addiction or just plain addiction. I think Subutex and Suboxone are great when you detox off other heavy opiates, or using them for maintenance for a short period of time- no longer than 5-6 months. Because this is a very powerful medicine too, I am saying this because I want everybody to know that this medication will take away all your dope sickness and then when your done with the subs your good with no withdrawl from that. That is certainly not the case. More evidence is coming out when on subs 4 over 1/ 1 and half years It is much harder to get off these drugs than your d.o.c. But they do help you break that vicious addicition cycle. Gd luck 2 u all."

For Opioid Use Disorder "The first time I took this it threw me into massive withdrawal which was unbearable for about 24 hours because I still had opiates in my system. So I never went near it again for years. Now, I am taking 8mg a day for the last 6 months. I will always put this medicine on a pedestal because if you want to change your lifestyle and be drug free this will definitely help you achieve your goal. SUBUTEX - I cannot sing its praises enough and that's coming from someone who would not even consider it at one stage."

For Opioid Use Disorder "My son is on it. He needed it for the pain relieving aspect as much as withdrawals from Oxycontin which his doctor cut him off of cold turkey. Lousy thing to do. He needs something for extreme pain. Had to find a certified doctor to get it. It works great. "

For Opioid Use Disorder "I've been on Suboxone/Subutex off-on the past 4 years. I would definitely say that these medicines are helpful, as far as preventing withdrawal and decreasing cravings. (No more daily drug seeking-such a relief:). However, it's been my experience that you can find yourself in another inappropriate relationship with these drugs if you aren't careful and really committed to your goal in recovery. It is imperative that we have strong support systems (family, friends, meetings, therapists) along with this medication. I was pretty much on my own, increasing my dosage and landed back into detox. Just started treatment again, ALONG WITH people that I'm accountable to, and things are good. Stay aware and you can do it!"

For Chronic Pain "I have an entrapped nerve. Used the 5 mcg patches for ages with no side effects. Then skin reaction. Then tried Fentanyl patches. I HATE feeling high. Weaned myself to 1/6 of a 12.5 mcg patch. Tried butrans patch again because I liked it so much. Patches burned my skin even w Flonase. Taking 2 mg. Began Five days ago. Day one 2 tablets 12 hours apart. Day two 1 tablet after 17 hours. Day three 1 tablet after 18 hours. Day four 1 tablet after 23 hours. For me, I need to stay really hydrated. In the first 2-3 hours after taking, I perspire profusely. I also have a ton of anxiety, that subsides after about the 4th hour. Each day, I’ve gone longer between doses. I’m going to give it two weeks and see how I’m doing. I’ve had to use 1 or 2 mg of hydromorphone once a day in the first 10 hours for breakthrough pain. Once I get through the first part, I forget I’m taking it! Hope it continues to work. HATE feeling high."

For Opioid Use Disorder "Subutex has changed my life. It's improved the quality of my life and family. I am able to function on a daily basis and be the mother my two beautiful boys deserve. I had a reaction to the generic buprenorphine (GI, abdominal pain). I am very upset that you will no longer be making the brand name Subutex as this has had a huge impact on the quality of my life. I'm hoping the other generic buprenorphine will work out for me."

For Opioid Use Disorder "This drug has done wonders for me to lead a normal life. Like some, I was treated with high powered drugs oxycontin, fentanyl, and all the others for back pain. None of the high and most of the benefits for my back pain. Wonderful for coming off of other opiates with proper medical supervision."

For Opioid Use Disorder "I started taking Subutex in 2008 after a ten year battle with opioid addiction. Before that I tried methadone, rehab, AA, NA, " Marijuana maintenance Program", white knuckling it, and tapering on my own. Nothing I tried worked, until I was at yet another bottom my grandmother drove me to a doctor she knows, and I've been sober ever since. The point I would like to make is that the 1st year and a half I was clean, but miserable. The thing that has changed is that I've gotten into a 12 step program with A.A. and now instead of just being clean and sober, I'm happy and recovering. Anyone who takes this route of getting there lives back together, therapy and Rx works, but only for a while. When that doesn't work, try A.A. GOOD LUCK."

For Opiate Dependence - Maintenance "Subutex, which has been discontinued, but the generic equivalent, buprenorphine HCl, has saved my life! Suboxone wasn't for me. They started me on the Suboxone film, 8 mg, but it gave me terrible migraines. I switched to buprenorphine HCl, and all has been great! I was addicted to pain pills, coke, fentanyl patches, the works. But I got pregnant and decided I needed help. I actually got clean on my own at first while pregnant, but after she was born I relapsed. It was horrible. I was chewing on 100 mcg fentanyl patches. My tolerance was through the roof. I'm lucky to be alive. But ever since getting on Subutex, my life has completely changed. I stay home and raise my daughter. I'm not in the streets looking for my next fix. I'm not stealing, lying, scamming, etc. I am at home, doing really well. Actually, it's the first time in my life I've ever been truly happy. After 4 years in prison and over 15 years of active addiction, I decided to give Subutex a go. Clean going on 5 years now."

For Opioid Use Disorder "I've been on Subutex for 3 years. I take it for back pain resulting from a ruptured disc, 4 back surgeries, and then being diagnosed with degenerative disc disease. I also take it to avoid taking a boatload of opiates, which is what I was doing before. But I think this medicine has many more side effects than those listed. I have difficulty urinating and my doctor agreed that it is a common complaint with Subutex and Suboxone. It dries my skin out, especially my hands. They look like sandpaper no matter what I do. The dermatologist has been stumped by this; nothing she suggests or prescribes helps and she agrees that it is probably the Sub. Also, BIG problems with sensitive gums and dentures."

For Opioid Use Disorder "I was on subutex for 3 years because Suboxone gives me migraines. I was an IV heroin addict for 6 years before starting subutex. In 3 years I had zero cravings, got my life together, and had a beautiful son who experienced minimal withdrawal symptoms after being born. Subutex changed my life. The only negative side effects were a lack of sex drive and constipation. I weaned from 16mg to .25 mg in about 5 months. I stopped taking subutex 18 days ago. Withdrawal symptoms didn't start until day 7. Withdrawal was minimal after tapering so low. I am experiencing some depression now, but the cravings are non existent still. Subutex gave me the clean time I needed to stay clean after subutex. I would recommend this medication to anyone trying to stop taking opioids or heroin. Many of my friends from addiction are now functional adults as well. Subutex and Suboxone are miracle medications."

For Pain "This is by far the best pain medicine I’ve been on for chronic pain. I have severe neck issues as well as lower back issues that I will have for the rest of my life. About five years ago, someone mentioned this drug to me and that it may help with pain even though its use is to help users to get off opiates. I wasn’t a drug user however I was able to get onto this drug by agreeing that I took more pain medicine than I should’ve at one point. I’ll never forget the day I went onto this drug. I walked out of the doctor's office pain level of two, which I hadn’t felt in years! I am so grateful that I have a life now where I can move around instead of being in pain all day long as the opiates really weren’t working as well and nothing close to what I’m feeling now. I tell everyone I know of my Subutex journey. I’m glad I found this site so I can share it with you."

For Opioid Use Disorder "I've used Subutex for 2 years for drug misuses. In this time I have struggled with weight loss. I've tried eating differently to try to gain more weight. Now I have reduced myself to 2ml of Subutex, over this two year period have found weight gaining. I have also noticed cold nights sweats when in bed. I wake shivering and covered in cold sweats the bed sheets have big damp patches on them. I have found them very good at keeping me drug free."

For Opioid Use Disorder "I have only just started using Suboxone/Subutex and I have to say it works great for the cravings and the withdraws. The only reason why I did not give it a 10 is because of the side effects. I had many side effects on the Suboxone so my doctor moved me to the Subutex. The side effects have gone down except two. I have a problem falling asleep. I constantly pass out when ever I'm not focused on doing something. I'm standing in a company meeting passing out and almost falling over and Driving is a challenge in its own. Secondly its causing stiffness in my muscles when ever I'm not moving for long periods of time. When I wake up at night or in the morning, I can't hardly move to roll over or get up. Other then these problems, it is great!"

"(From Gt.Btitain) Sübutex is (in my opinion) the best drug on the market for opioid addiction. In the past I have been prescribed both subutex and methadone to combat addiction, and found the withdrawal from subutex far more manageable than that of methadone, a factor that a lot of people take in to consideration when using meds of this sort. It (subutex) is however, open to abuse., whereas methadone isn't, the reason a lot of practitioners are wary of prescribing subutex, and will prescribe SUBOXONE as an alternative. I've had no problems using "subbys" and recommend them for anyone trying to kick an opioid addiction."

For Opioid Use Disorder "Hi.i was addicted to heroin for 9 years.a year ago decide I had enough so started off with methadone. Slowly I reduced it to 15ml daily and then started subtex.6mg fail. after only 4months I tempered down to 0.4. that is when they decided I was ready to stop and I happily agreed cos according to my doc such small does wouldn't effect me. The first day after taking last tablet I was ok. But the next day I started feeling awful. I went back and explained that I had withdrawal symptoms. They told me I could go back on script but have to wait 10 days to see a doc (ridiculous) So back on heroin to keep me going till then. Of course I'm only smoking really small amount. Worried tho after 10 days I'll need methadone again. Does anyone know if I can go straight back on subtex?"

For Opioid Use Disorder "I've been on Suboxone since November 2009 it was the best thing that has ever happened to me. My boyfriend and I became addicted to pain killers together. I had only been taking them for about a year and half but my tolerance went through the roof, last summer I was taking about 20 pills a day and I had enough so I took myself to rehab and I have been on Suboxone since. I couldn't believe this happened to me but it can happen to anyone! Just recently I found out I am pregnant and very excited. I had the option of detoxing off of Suboxone or switching to Subutex. I wasn't sure so my primary doctor told me Subutex. So I chose Subutex but I cannot stand the taste of it and being sick everyday due to the pregnancy makes it even worse to dissolve."

For Opioid Use Disorder "I was on heroin for years! I never thought that I would change. I was constantly thrown onto the streets, jails, rehabs, and probations. I never tried subs because I never thought it would work. 3 years ago I was put on probation for significant amount of time. I decided to try subs to my surprise it has helped immensely! I have not used a single drug, I now have my high school diploma, bought my first car, got my family back! I suggest anybody struggling with opioid use disorder to give it a try! Uou have nothing to lose, everything to gain! It is not an end game treatment and you might still have cravings here and there and it will only block opioids. But I was a poly substance abuse addict as well and have not touched other drugs for a couple years. I even quit smoking pot which is a miracle in itself because I have a medical card and also thought I would have to live side by side it for the rest of my life! not anymore! It has actually helped with ALL drug cravings!"

For Opioid Use Disorder "Hi, I have swapped from 30ml of methadone to subtex. I waited 30h and took 1st dose. Although I haven't had bad withdrawals I haven't been able to sleep for the last 4 days. I even relapsed and brought a 10 bag of this just to get to sleep. Back on a 12mg dose of subs so I really hope I stabilise and feel normal soon. I can't handle the not sleeping."

For Opioid Use Disorder "Several years ago I was Diagnosed with Crohn's disease and long story short got hooked on pain killers. Anyway I decided that I hated being dependent on the pills, mainly was just on Vicoden. I've been on Subutex for a few years now and have little to no side effects other than I get HOT very fast. I want to add something important. I used to take maybe 3-4 Vicodens 3 times a day. Sometimes a little bit more (like 1 or 2). I was so desperate for relief because I was in withdrawal and was told about Suboxone. "

I have been back to normal life for 7 years, working, have my own place, a better mom, because I'm not on that constant hunt for opioids. I take my med faithfully every day."

For Opiate Dependence - Maintenance "I have read every review on this medication and there seems to be one common thread. Every person that is addicted to opioids has a need to explain why, when, where, and how because that’s what opioids do…they change your brain chemistry. Every person's reason is valid to them. I promise I’m not on a soapbox, I just wish after all these years someone could show me how to fix that part. I had been on pain pills for several years for chronic pain. My last year on them, I was prescribed 3 80mg oxy per day, 6 30mg oxycodone per day, 4 soma per day, and 3 1mg Xanax per day. I have been on maintenance buprenorphine now for 8 years at 24mg/day, until recently I was given an extra dosage up to 32mg/day. In my experience, it gave me my life back. I’ve only taken this medication for 8 years. It does not cover my pain completely. If I had to put a number on it, I would say maybe by 50%, but what’s my alternative? I would have died eventually by being prescribed that much medication."

For Opioid Use Disorder "Hello everyone. I have been on Suboxone and Subutex since 2014. I was on opioids for around 12/15 years. Roxy’s, Hydro’s and really any thing I could get my hands on including drinking a whole lot. When I started this journey of subs, I thought it was the best thing that had ever hit the market and I was very uneducated about it at the same time. This past summer I started experiencing trouble with my feelings, not emotional, internal, my skin. Now my stomach is so messed up. Like two surgeries messed up all due to this “wonderful” drug. Because I have been on it for so many years, I have begun to tapper down. I was on 16mg of Suboxone and now I’m on 2mg tablets 6x a day. Has anyone experienced any withdrawals from the naloxone from switching to subutex from Suboxone?"
