"I started this a few days ago, after I was told by the Clinic that it would work well for me because it was a "non narcotic" however, I found that it only provides temporary relief. it does nothing to help fight the infection causing the cough. I was told to stop taking other OTC Medicines. But this really didn't do anything"

"The first time the pearles were prescribed, I thought they were a miracle drug. Suppressed my cough, and no side effects. Every spring and fall, I get a chest cold. So, I got a prescription 3 days ago. My cough is just as bad as it was 4 days ago AND I am in constant gastric distress. I'm disappointed that they didn't work this time, and the upset tummy and dizziness have turned me off. I'm going back to Mucinex and Robitussin."

"I have been prescribed tessalon perles for cough many times throughout the years. It has literally never worked to help decrease coughing. I always end up reverting to eating cough drops nonstop. I have also never heard of tessalon perles helping anyone else for cough."

"My coughing was non-stop. I couldn't speak in complete sentences. my doc gave me these yellow pearls and the cough was gone. It never came back. I took the entire prescription and the cough still didn't come back. this medication is the best."

"Have been given these for a horrid cough. They don’t really do much except make me sleepy. The cough is still there. Makes me miss being in Australia where I could get codeine cough syrup over the counter if I needed it."

"I was up all night coughing, my airways were raw. I was afraid to throw a rib out....took one gel capsule at 11:30 am am almost cough free still at 2:30 pm. No side effects, maybe a bit drowsy, but I slept so poorly that I don't know if the pill caused the sleepiness. I am very pleased with this prescription. I still feel miserable but at least am not racked with a dry cough. Which is exhausting. I can breathe. I'm sure it does not cure the cough, but it allows the body to heal. The constant hacking is dreadful and irritating to the airways."

"I despise this medication. Doctors CONSTANTLY prescribe it and it does NOTHING for a cough. Mostly, I spend money and still cough. Save your cash. Go buy Dollar Tree cough syrup. It doesn't work either, but it is cheaper."

"Ok I am x ems/fire/law enforcement person .I am medically retired from this profession. I drive a commercial vehicle for a living now. I am also a heart patient/diabetic type 2. I get to drive all over the US and Canada. I have read numerous statements that it doesn't work or does work. No it may not work for all. I started Monday taking this. It has slowed my hacking down quite a bit. I have not had any side effects of any yet. I'm about to have triple bypass done. I have tried over counter I found only one bottle of med I could legally use that worked. This seems to work for me at this. I will comment at least twice more . I will use it up to my surgery date and a comment to all to how good it was or bad. Everyone is different meds."

"I first used Tessalon Perles early in 2017 when I had a "cold" with a cough that would not go away. After 2 rounds of antibiotics (for secondary infections) and 2 bottles of tussinex my doctor prescribed Tessalon Perles. I did not expect them to do much for me. WRONG. I had almost instantaneous relief. I have since had a second URI with the 2 rounds of antibiotics, etc. And now I have a chronic cough. It wakes me up, keeps me from singing in church, etc, etc. Having a new Rx for the Tessalon Perles has made all the difference in my quality of life."

"I have been taking these Tessalon Perles on and off for years for an asthmatic chronic cough. In my experience they really do help. It does not take away my cough completely, but without them I cough so much more and it's noticeable if I'm not on them."

"I have been using the Tessalon Perles for 5 days every 8 hrs and feel no difference. I still have quite the cough. I have had a Chest XRay that was insignificant. I am going to call my PCP and see if I can take more than 1 every 8 hrs. I am on decreasing dosages of Prednisone"

"Had a horrific cough and very bad sinus infection on day 2 I went to the ER due to problems breathing , Dr prescribed Tessalon & Antibiotic . I have been taking the Tessalon 100 mg for 3 xs a day and it has stopped the cough some , but still very congestited and feeling very little relief on that part."

"These were amazing!! I had a lingering cough after covid. Unproductive, just dry. However, unless I had a cough drop in my mouth or was sitting in front of a humidifier I could not stop coughing. These were like a little miracle for me. I had no side effects. I did have to refill the prescription once because I was still coughing but at the end of the second bottle I could finally breathe normally without hacking up a lung."

"As a retired nurse who is 73 years old, I was recently prescribed medication by a doctor who was filling in for my regular physician. Unfortunately, this medication proved to be ineffective and even dangerous for certain populations, such as seniors and those with chronic diseases like Parkinson's, which I have. It is important to note that this medication numbs the throat and should be used with caution. In my case, I experienced a stiff and numb neck after taking it, which could have been potentially lethal if I wasn't fully oriented. Moreover, the medication did not alleviate my cough and actually made it worse. I have found that many physicians are hesitant to prescribe medications containing narcotics due to concerns about misuse. As a result, I have resorted to using old medication like Tessalon pearls to manage my symptoms. Overall, if I could rate this medication, I would give it a zero due to its ineffectiveness and potential dangers."

"Wow. I usually make do with OTC stuff, but cough post-chills phase of a bug I caught was very painful and persistent - Robitussin DM wasn't touching it. Took these and felt better within an hour - and got first good night sleep in days. A bit of a weird 'numby' side effect, but not that bad."

"Still coughing after taking Tessalon Perles for 2 days. They've done absolutely nothing to help with my cough. I'm going back to OTC Robitussin. Pharm tech said most insurances do not cover this medication. Mine was no exception. It's a lot of $ for a product that doesn't work."

"It seems like tessalon perles either work great for people or not at all. They are amazing for me. I get bronchitis every year and they are the only thing that I can take to stop coughing at night. A++"

"I was recently prescribed Benzonatate for asthmatic non-productive cough associated with vasomotor rhinitis. Simply put, they work with minimal side effects. Moderate to marked reduction in frequency and duration of coughing spasms. Plus I can get some much needed rest, perhaps due to both cough reduction and a very mild sedative effect."

"Prescribed tessalon perles with Augmentin for bacterial URTI (upper respiratory tract infection. Was hopeful that these would help relieve my coughing and allow me to get some sleep to help my recovery but they seem to only make my cough worse and keep me up late at night in misery."

"My grandson 15 has had a horrible cough for 3 weeks now. 10 days on antibiotics then prescribed this rubbish which I was hoping they didn't call in. I've had them before and they do not work. The dr watched him cough til he would gag but done other tests saying he has to return to school wearing a mask all day. If I would had known what they were I wouldn't have paid or picked them up. They are worthless."

"I had started a bad cough right before having to fly back to the United States from Germany. I took a Tessalon pearl and was able to sleep throughout the flight with no negative side effects. I then took one in the evening when I got home and slept through the night with no problems. The only negative thing I noticed was a dry mouth."

"The true Tessalon Pearls work very well, I have not had the same luck with the generic. As a matter of fact, I have had no relief from my cough with the generic. Unfortunately it's all but impossible to get the actual Tessalon Pearls any more unless you have them special ordered and are willing to pay a fortune."

"I'm in college and I went to a party after a while of not going out so I was submerged in so many germs all at once, where I ended up getting sick and having this nasty cough. I've had it for about a week now and it is so extremely painful. It started with a simple sore throat but now its too painful to talk or even breathe and sleep. I wake up every hour or so coughing up mucus and I never actually fall into a deep sleep so I'm exhausted all the time. The other day I was coughing so hard I threw up my entire dinner. Anyways, a doctor prescribed me this recently so I took it 3 times in a day as told to do so and it has not done anything for me. I don't know how some people are saying it worked in 15 min for them. I wish. I don’t know what to do I need to get rid of this cough I can't be in class coughing up a lung especially when covid is still present. I don't like this medication I had high hopes but based on the other reviews here it just seems like a scam cause it isn't working for most"

"My mother was prescribed Tessalon Perles. That night/early morning she started having hallucinations. Really bad hallucinations!! She had to be taken to the ER. The perles do not affect me. But due to the issues my mother had I will not EVER take these again!!!"

"I received these with antibiotics for a horrible bronchitis. They didn’t stop the cough spasms at all, now I have Brohmphen cough syrup PSE.DM, cough much better. Prednisone prescribed with this to alleviate pneumonia developed in right lung during use of benzonatate. I agree that Musinex DM works better, I was up all night with cough spasms three nights on Benzonate."
