"I never leave reviews but I wanted to share this. I have seen so many negative reviews regarding this drug. If you are miserable on Prevpac, then maybe you are not taking in enough probiotics and yogurts. I took a strong refrigerated probiotic along with daily yogurt. I did fine. I had a couple of headaches at the end but no other problems, and I live a very busy and active lifestyle. You NEED this medication for H. pylori. The 'natural' way takes months, even years, during which time ulcers and cancer can form. Just suck it up and take the meds. You will survive, and you can move on with your life."

"When I had an upper GI endoscopy, I was diagnosed with H. pylori. He gave me one PPI that is esomeprazole 40 mg, amoxicillin 500 mg, and clarithromycin 500 mg for 14 days. I took it for 12 days. I can't take more than that because of the side effects. It has been a week since I stopped it, but I still haven't recovered. My symptoms are the same as before: indigestion, nausea, throat burning problems, acid reflux, etc. I don't know when I will be free from this disease. Can anyone help me? I'm helpless and worried too much about this problem."

"Have completed the 14-day Prevpac treatment. I started the first day expecting horrible side effects. That didn't happen. I had a few nausea moments that lasted only seconds. My bowel movements were totally normal. I will say I became very fatigued, but I slept well and generally felt very good during the entire 14 days. I did have a bit of depression, but I assumed it was caused by the treatment, so I just ignored that. It was 8 pills a day, plus a probiotic. That's 126 pills in two weeks! As you can see, it didn't affect my mathematical skills! Today is the 2nd day pill free and done with Prevpac. I don't remember feeling this good in a long while. The treatment appears to have worked extremely well. So, do I recommend Prevpac - that is a resounding YES. And the best of luck to you all."

"PEOPLE, PLEASE DON'T COME HERE TO GET FEAR INSTILLED IN YOU ABOUT THIS MEDICINE. Other people's experiences may NOT EVER happen to you. I didn't take it for a whole year because of these kinds of websites. Let's put this out there: I DO NOT LIVE A HEALTHY LIFESTYLE. I eat fried food, I eat out a lot (hence, why I think I got the bacteria). I barely work out, and I'm considered overweight. (NOT BRAGGING, JUST BEING TRUTHFUL) And the medicine still worked for me. If you're dealing with horrific side effects, 9/10 you were probably dealing with those things one way or another without medication. For the nausea, eat 1/2 a toast before taking it. For the insomnia, don't take it right before you go to bed, 2-3 hours in advance. The metallic taste goes away after you eat."

"What's with the horror stories! Based on these reviews, I decided to delay my medication treatment of Helicobacter Pylori Infection for as long as I could. I was prescribed a 14-day course. The side-effects are gravely exaggerated. I believe, with balanced diet and rest, the side-effects for me were really minimal. My side effects included a general feeling of weakness and the occasional bitterness in my mouth. I did puke thrice on day-5, but that was the only day. I took the morning dose with a probiotic and a rice salad. Had lots of yogurt, brown rice, and steamed veggies. Today is day-14. I don't know if I have been cured but I do know that the side effects are not that bad."

"I’m on day 9 of this horrible medicine. It’s horrible to me because I got hit with side effects of diarrhea, fatigue, loss of appetite, followed by anxiety and even an episode of depression, which I’m still recovering from. It’s scary to deal with, but I haven’t had heartburn since beginning this and have been able to eat. Before taking the medicine, the infection made me not even want to chew. It is very rough, but I’m almost at the end, and that’s what’s helping me pull through all this. Some tips are to take a probiotic like lactobacillus to help with diarrhea (it’s helped somewhat for me), and avoid any acidic foods, sugars, and salty stuff. I’ve searched through many other reviews of this medicine to make sure I’m not the only one with anxiety and panic attacks. If you take this medicine and go through serious anxiety, please talk to someone about your thoughts, it’ll help. Before this medicine, I’ve never had anxiety or depression. Those side effects are killing me."

"I just finished yesterday with the 14-day treatment, however, I experienced loss of appetite, significant weight loss, restlessness, feeling dazed, tired all the time, and choking episodes. Also, the last 4 days, I noticed severe chest pain with tingling on the left side, including up the left side of my throat. I went to the ER and was told my heart rhythm is in good shape, but the pain was unbearable. I was given a GI cocktail and sent on my way. I hope the treatment starts kicking in at any time now because I’ve never felt weaker or dazed in my life. People have been telling me that I look very sick. On the plus side, I noticed the abdominal pain decreased significantly to the point I can’t remember it ever hurting. Stool still looks the same as when I was diagnosed with H. pylori. The only concern I continue to have is the hypertension feelings in the morning and the esophagus sensitivity to anything I ingest. Hope everyone gets better because the H. pylori bacteria ain’t no joke."

"I'm on day 3. The insomnia is by far the worst side effect for me. I didn't sleep at all last night. I'm on this med, but everything prescribed separately, so the amount of pills is overwhelming. The daytime dose seems to be a little better, but at nighttime, I am left tossing and turning and shaking and clenching my teeth. Going to ask my doctor if 1 week will be sufficient in eradicating this bacteria because I'm not sure I can last the full 2 weeks."

"After reading some reviews, I was skeptical when I picked this medicine up from the pharmacy, but decided to give it a try. I just finished my 14-day treatment of Prevpac, and I did not experience any side effects from the treatment. I took 4 pills every morning with oatmeal and toast at 6 a.m., then took the other 4 with my evening meal at 6 p.m. When I arrived at work around 8:30 a.m., I ate a cup of Activia yogurt with water. At lunchtime, I ate a small lunch and took one Phillips Colon Health probiotic. At 4 p.m., I ate another cup of yogurt. I hope this helps someone with the medication. Hopefully, this treatment cured my H. pylori!!!"

"I don't normally share my experiences or leave reviews on anything, but I thought I'd share in regards to the Prevpac because I'm living through a nightmare. The worst thing is the bad taste in my mouth. I know it sounds like a very small side effect, but imagine the taste in your mouth after vomiting bile and times that by 100. There's also the drip taste in the back of my throat. I feel like I'm constantly holding puke back. I'm on day 3, and I'm very tired and feel extra weak. I've tried eating crackers, but no such luck in helping me out. I did, however, buy a lot of hard candy and gum, which helps a lot. I wake up every hour or two during the night to chew gum or suck on a candy. These drugs are no joke. I wish everyone luck."

"I have had stomach problems for the past 6 years and was prescribed medications such as Nexium, Zantac, and Protonix, however, I saw no results. 2 weeks ago, I went to emergency for extreme stomach pain and vomiting. I was diagnosed with H. pylori and given the 14-day treatment Prevpac. The first couple of days, I had symptoms such as a metal taste in my mouth and feeling fatigued. On day 7, I started getting minor headaches. I am pleased to say I am on day 14 and just finished the pack, and I am feeling great. Make sure to drink lots of fluids and eat healthy during the treatment."

"So, started off pretty confident. No problems here, what's the big deal? Day 7, projectile vomiting for 24 hours, followed by fatigue, my bits felt on fire, couldn't get out of bed, couldn't work, no appetite, should have gone to the ER for IV fluids. Finished the last dose the night before, nurse said the cure often feels worse than the bug (but the bug can increase the risk of stomach cancer). I hope H. Pylori is gone because I'm really not sure I can do it again. Of course, everyone's experiences are different, wishing you all the best."

"I am a 31-year-old female. I was given Prevpac to get rid of H. pylori, which was the underlying cause of my chronic gastritis and terrible pain and discomfort in my chest from reflux and inflammation. I just completed the 14-day Prevpac kit. This treatment definitely works, and I feel 100% better now that it's over. It takes time for it to fully kick in, though. I started feeling relief at day 5 and felt 100% better at day 10. To me, my experience wasn't as bad as some of the reviews I read prior to starting the medication. Based on suggestions I read, I took a daily probiotic, which helped a lot with the side effects, so I recommend that. The one constant symptom was the metallic taste in my mouth, especially when first waking up. But all I had to do was drink something, and it went away. I had diarrhea a couple of times, but nothing extreme. A few stomach aches/cramps as well. At the very end, I developed a little yeast infection (which can happen when taking antibiotics), but I easily got rid of it with over-the-counter meds. The side effects are very bearable. Overall, the most annoying thing for me was having to take so many pills at once and in one day and also the cost. After my insurance paid their part, I paid $75, which to me is a lot. But the packaging said before insurance it was about $750."

"I was prescribed this meds my first time I got sick back in 2015, I was so sick that time I think I missed several doses. After that I have been sick with gastritis, acid reflux, Weakness, not able to digest my food. Just 4 years with those symptoms. Now 2020, they tested again and it’s still there and was prescribed kind the same but not exactly Prepac, individual antibiotics which are the same thing at the end. Day 10 now and I can eat food ok and feeling bit better. I hope this helps someone because this bacteria is hard to treat and it comes back a lot."

"I'm currently on day 11 of Prevpac. I was very nervous about taking it after reading horror stories online. The first day I was very nauseous after taking it in the morning. That afternoon I purchased some probiotics, and they have been a huge help! My only side effect is a bad taste in my mouth, but chewing gum helps with that! I feel great now, but I'm excited to be done with the meds in three days. I've been having stomach issues for three years with no definite answer until finally a doctor tested me for H. Pylori, and it came back positive. Prevpac really isn't that bad. I highly recommend taking probiotics, though!"

"I am on triple therapy for 14 days, second time in 2 years. I'm 5th day in. First 3 were brutal. I couldn't even dress myself, was too weak. My insides feel tender, but I'm not as tired, I can work and sleep. My question is: I have that metallic taste, and now my tongue is light grey. Anyone experience this?"

"I was positive for H. Pylori. I was nervous to start this 14-day therapy of medicines, but I toughened up and went for it. I am on my second day of Prevpac. I have some symptoms. The first day I took it, about 2 hours after, I felt tired, along with a metallic taste in my mouth. I ate right after I took it and drank plenty of water. The taste went away fairly quickly in the morning, however, in the evening, I got the same symptoms, but the metallic taste was worse. I just kept drinking water. This morning, I woke up with loose stools. Also, for some reason, I have been having an increased appetite. I guess it's a good thing considering I haven't been eating. I am a 27-year-old. I will keep you updated."

"Not too bad, this is my second time taking the medication. The first time I was given lansoprazole, amoxicillin, and metronidazole, which I had major side effects from, and after reading horror story reviews, I stopped at day 5 of 7. Later found out it was the metronidazole that caused my horrible side effects. Now I'm on the course again, but instead of metronidazole, I was prescribed clarithromycin, which is so much better! Apart from the occasional nausea and metallic/bitter taste, I've had no other side effects, and it's helped increase my appetite. I'm on day 4 of 7 now and have high hopes for this drug. Will update after I finish the treatment."

"I'm usually very regular, so when I started experiencing stomach discomfort-bloating, constipation, lots of gas-I headed straight to my doctor. I did indeed have H. pylori and was given the Prevpac 14-day treatment. After reading what seemed like pages of negative reviews and side effects, I was hesitant to start the regimen and made a deal with myself that if it didn't work out for me, I'd go toward a more holistic route. I'm on Day 13, and overall I had a positive experience. The first few days I was fatigued, and that eventually went away. I did get a bad taste in my mouth after an hour of taking the medicine. I'm regular again and feel much better. I also took probiotics and cut out sugar, dairy, and gluten, which I think helped as well."

"Reading these reviews, and at least, good to know I'm not the only one who has struggled with H. Pylori. Saw multiple doctors...all brushed it off. Was finally scheduled for an upper endoscopy. Prior to the appt, felt the worst ever. Symptoms over months had progressed from stomach pain and acid reflux (managed with 40 mg Prilosec twice a day) to fatigue, burping, chest pains, liver and spleen pain, feeling confused and delirious, diarrhea. Finally, a walk-in clinic doctor ordered a stool sample test. I'm on day 3 of Prevpac and feeling better. Metallic taste in the AM but goes away. Loading up on probiotics...highly recommended. Definitely need to take with food. I'll have to retest in about a month, but hoping this works! Best of luck to everyone!!!"

"I'm on my fourth day of using the Prevpac for H. pylori infection, which was discovered during a medical procedure (colonoscopy and endoscopy). I was experiencing stomach discomfort (throbbing alternating aches from left to right), which prompted me to have these procedures. Day one: I felt tired and experienced severe stomach pain, including bloating, but it (stomach pain) eventually subsided. Day two: minor stomach pain and little bloating. Day three: I did not experience any pain, but I had the metallic taste and felt fatigued. I have noticed that my bowels are larger (sorry for the extra information) than normal. Details to take into consideration: female and a minority."

"I took the prevpak many years ago after suffering with sharp abdominal pain, cramping, nausea, severe heartburn and probably other symptoms I can't remember. I had no issues with the medication whatsoever. I encourage those of you who are reading negative comments to put your health first as allowing this infection to persist can lead to conditions much worse than simply having a bacteria in your stomach. If you should get any symptoms with the medications, rest assured you are probably already having them now! You will feel back to normal again after a few days. I have read some comments where some have stated they have other issues with their backs, neck etc etc. From a medical and professional standpoint, these symptoms are not related. I recommend you eat some yogurt with the treatment throughout the course to help with symptoms if you are more sensitive to medications."

"I took this pack, and after the 2nd day on the meds, I felt I was going to die. I tried to relax myself and have faith it would work. After the 4th day, I started feeling better, and every day after that. I finished the meds, and now I am 2 weeks since finishing the pack. I have not felt this great in years. I urge you all who are taking it or considering taking it to let the meds run their course. Yes, there are side effects, but as for my part, I felt those side effects outweigh the pain I had been having for years. Now I can eat whatever I want, and I have not gotten sick. By the way, doctors here in the USA could not diagnose this infection. I live next to the border of Mexico, so I sought treatment there, and within one day, he gave the results and treatment. It's the same treatment from Mexico and the USA."

"First of all, believe that the doctor had evaluated and decided that this drug has more benefits than the side effects for you. Every medicine has side effects. I completed my 14 days of Prevpac today. I was having unexplained upper right stomach pain and sometimes diarrhea once or twice a week. Initially thought it's gallstones - but ultrasound confirmed it's not. All blood work was normal. Upper endoscopy did not figure out any ulcers. Finally, did a stool test and confirmed the presence of H. pylori antigen, and I was recommended Prevpac for 14 days. I had a few side effects: headache in the evening, mild stomach cramps, bitter taste in my mouth (specifically in the morning). I'm feeling perfect now. Be positive, and that supplements the med."
