Doc started me on IC Methylphenidate ER ( Concerta ) for ADHD . The week before I had an excited toddler jump up as I reached down hit my chin with his head pretty hard. It hurt but a few minutes later I was fine and life went on as usual ... A week later my doctor starts me on Concerta and the same night I have a sharp pain in the back of my head the lower/left . Pain continues for 6 days then all of sudden I cant move my neck at all for 2wks ( right collar bone hurts to touch pain has been everywhere from right cheek bone, jaw ,left ear, back left occipital bone , right middle and ring finger numbness that comes and goes, left shoulder grinds hurts down thru bottom of left arm all the way to middle finger. and of course the muscles on the sides mostly right side of neck are sore because my head weighs a million pounds and even having a day or two lately where I can turn my head 50% I still have to hold my hand at the base of my head and or hold pressure on the left side of my chin . Being over a month in pain I have been to the chiropractor 12xs , had 3 medical massages , put on muscle relaxers - My neck locked up again yesterday so I went to an Orthopedics Urgent care xrays , steroids pain med (which I cannot take because I have a reaction to pain med that makes me violently throw up ; which is why I didn't go to hosp or fam doc in the beginning) anyway im set to see a spine specialist and have an MRI of neck next week. I just don't believe this could all come from a 2yr olds head hitting my chin ! So now I cant help but question the Concerta . I don't want to stop taking a medication that's actually helping me ... but if these types of meds mess with your nerves and other people experience tics and numbness ect. could it by chance causing all this ???
