Buspirone is used to treat symptoms of anxiety, such as fear, tension, irritability, dizziness, pounding heartbeat, and other physical symptoms.

It is not in the same family as Xanax but both are antianxiety medicines. Xanax is a benzodiazepine.

Buspirone (BuSpar) is in the same antianxiety family as Xanax, but the difference is it's not in the benzodiazepine family which Xanax belongs to.
