I am taking Fluoxetine (Prozac). May I take antacids when necessary?

As I recall you can take the Prozac with a meal and it will be easier in your stomach. Or if taken before bed, a snack may help. However, if you regularly have GERD a doctor ought to treat. It may not be what you think it is.

Hi faynoe30-
There is some debate about it. If it is Tums, the only issues I read about was that it may slow absorption of the prozac. On this site there is a interactions checker and it did not indicate any interaction with Tums. But a call to your doc would be the best advise. It it is something like Prilosec I would call your doc and make sure it is safe. I hope the prozac settles down and you will not have to take the antacids very long.
