Can I use Polymyxin B/Trimethoprim drops from 6 months ago that have not expired?

Further explanation: I opened and used the drops for a previous case of conjunctivitis. I have it again and I looked at the expiration for the drops. They expire 09/12.

Are Neomycin, Polymyxin B and Bacitracin the same as Ultra Mide 25?

If they are the same, am I able tobuy the otc? My husband's finger tips split open if he washes his hands too much, or has them in water a lot during the day.
