How long does it take for Doxycycline to absorb into my system?

I just took 2 100 ml capsules as instucted, the 1st 2 of a course of one week. After taking with water, on an empty stomach, apro 20 mins later I felt dreadful and vomited bitter fluid only? Will the medication have reached my system enough to have worked, I should then take 1 a day for a week?
