Hello- I was on methadone for over 30 years-- two years ago i stopped going to the methadone program-- I was taking 60mg a day I switched over to suboxone..My highest suboxone dose was 24mg but that was a year ago..Currently I'm breaking 2mg pills in half--- I'm taking 1mg a day but I am scared to death of stopping ... I'm starting to think a lot of my anxiety is in my mind...
Robert you seem to know how to taper... I have 4 - 2mg pills left and I'm leaving for vacation monday... should I break the pills into quarters?
Thank you very much

hi mjdr, how many days is this vacation? but yea, breaking them into quarters should be fine.as long as you put a small amount of sub into your system you will be fine.
Yes break it into quarters and start going a bit longer between doses if you can. We get anxious, afraid, nervous, and terrified of withdrawal as we taper, but I did mine very slow, took me a year to get down to .25 mgs and then I started skipping a day, going 48 hours between doses. I started walking for exercise at the 1 mg mark and I have now been sub free for 5 days, NO WITHDRAWAL at all except for a few very very minor tummy twinges. I feel fine, I have energy, I swear, no withdrawal. The walking helps reset the damaged system in the brain, produces endorphins that help you feel better mentally and physically and it really helps regulate the eat/sleep. wake cycles. I don't know how slow you are taking the taper, but you should at the very least go 2 weeks, 4 is optimal at a lower dose before retapering.
Hi mjdr,
You might have better luck finding Robert_325 on Forum-Discussion Boards.
There is a member named pattishan that is quite knowledgable about subs, I shall Private Message her to see if she can help you with taper.
