We thought my 4 year old had pin worms and gave him the single Pin X dose to treat it. The next day our doctor had us drop off a sample (tape test) to the lab to confirm the diagnosis. It turned out, my son did not have pin worms. Since he didn't have pin worms, is there any negative consequence to taking the single dose Pin X?

No - often all members of a household are given worm treatment as a preventative measure if pin worms are found or suspected. Your son should be fine.
