I'm in my early 50s, & have been battling oral thrush over the past 2 years. But last week developed an acute mouth infection despite being on Itraconazole (for a complete 2 years chronically now), plus various mouthwashes (Difflam, Oraldene UK) without much relief.

So GP provided me with nystatin (oral suspension) yesterday 4 times a day. 1st dose burnt my tongue slightly but that was all so I continued on with the other 3 doses, but then woke up this morning to find my face & tongue badly swollen, & my mouth now feels like it's just on FIRE!!! So, so painful. Have now stopped the nystatin but unsure if that really even is the cause.

I'm very underweight (BMI of 15 at a height of 5'7) and really can't afford to miss one meal let alone a whole day's worth or more :(.

Anyone any ideas on whether this sounds like a reaction, & if so, how long it might take for this pain & swelling to ease off?

Thanks.
