I started taking this med and progressively have gotten worse with a leaky gut. I have now been off this med since tues. It is now Sat and I am no better. I called the pharmacist and they did not know but did tell me about 5% of people on this med can get diarrhea. I work thru the week and it is hard for me to be able to contact the manufacturer as they are not open on the weekends. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Does Metoprolol er succinate 25mg by Watson contain gluten?

I have the inactive ingredients, but first, I was just started on metoprolol and I have some loose stools and was wondering why, I don't have a gluten problem. Ok here are the ingredients microcrystalline cellulose

Well I can tell you that several of these can cause diarrhea. Polyethylene glycol, is miralax. corn starch can in sensitive people. and cellulose is fiber.
Sucrose is table sugar, so you know that's fairly innocuous as far as diarrhea.

True, just wondering how long it takes for the effects to wear off. I have been off of the drug for almost a week now and no better. Pharmacist said it should be out of my system in 24 hours

Cellulose can absolutely be from gluten. The product may also be made on shared equipment or in a shared facility. Most brands contract out manufacturing and don't QA their product for gluten. They order in bulk and market, so they don't ever touch the product or know what's actually happening at their manufacturing facilities.

Gluten damage can take up to two years to heal, and may symptoms subside after six to eight weeks.
