I just started taking Clonazepam a few days ago, and I undertand that it takes time to get into your system. Yesterday I passed out at 6:45pm and didn't wake up until 7:45am today, and that was only because my alarm went off for work. I probably could have slept longer. I take .25mg twice a day. Right now, I just want to go to sleep.
Any help on how long this drowsy feeling will last?
hello a5mondella, I am on this medication 1 mg 3 x daily and have been for yrs for panic/agoraphobla etc... I never really felt tired of of them more so relaxed, but everyone's system is differant as we well no... I would have your doctor do some labs on u first off to see if something else is going on to make u so tired... and life Laurie said after a while u build a tolerance and should feel better, but in my opinion even when I first started, I was on xanax and still didn't sleep like that..I like klonopin better for xanax has a short life an wears off fast n u wind up getting rebound anxiety till it is ready for your next dose, that's why I didn't like it as well is it made me black out on a lot of things... I would forget what I was doing n so fourth... I say give it another week or so n if u r having these issues I would talk to the doc about it as well as asking to run some labs on u to see if you r anemic or lacking vitamins etc... best of health to u...

The kind of sedation you are going through is Not normal. I would notify your Dr. Perhaps this is not the medication for you. It does not sound like you can take it during the day.

Thanks. Do you suggest I try and take it for another week, and if it still is making me tired, talk to him about changing it? I feel like I would be giving up right away. Thank you for your help!

Clonazepam is a benzodiazepine which is primarily an anti seizure medication, but also used for anxiety with the primary side effect being drowsiness.

You can try it but please do not drive. ( you can get a charge similar to DWI) or do things that require concentration. Also if you are employed your boss may notice your sedation. You could be risking a lot by leaving the house. I would still notify your DR.

thanks! I will def take your comments into consideration. I appreciate the help :)
You will build a tolerance over the next couple of weeks then the sleepiness should get better. Clonazepam is going to always make you sleepy to a degree.
