Lidoderm - what happens when you wear a patch more than 12 hours?

I asked my doctor, and he told me that it was ok to wear it 24/7 but to know that there an extremely small chance of dying because of the absorption of the lidocaine. He wasn't too upset when I told him that I wore the same patch for 24 hours. I won't change patches every 12 hours ( for expense, and the fact that I don't want to absorb too much lidocaine), but when I went on vacation, I did change them every 12 hours. It certainly made my vacation much easier. Also, you can wear up to three patches at a time, and again, I choose not to wear three at a time, so that I can concentrate on the area that is agonizing for me!! You also can cut them to fit exactly what hurts so that you don't waste them on parts of your body that doesn't need them. I have never heard of it causing skin problems at all, and the doctor didn't mention it. Andres???

Never wear a patch for more than 12 hours, or you can develop a severe skin reaction.

Take care,
