Zanaflex is a very short acting drug. It only has peak action for a couple of hours. I would say that once you stop the meds you should feel back to normal in a day or two tops. Zanaflex knocks me out cold. If I take one during the day, within 30min I am so tired I can fall asleep sitting up in the middle of a conversation but if I tough it out and try to stay awake those effects start wearing off in about an hour and a half to two hours.
Here is what the manufacturer drug description says:
A single dose of 8 mg of tizanidine reduces muscle tone in patients with spasticity for a period of several hours. The effect peaks at approximately 1 to 2 hours and dissipates between 3 to 6 hours. Effects are dose-related.
Everytime I take Zanaflex I pass out. I’m afraid to take it. To make it so bad, I only take 1/2 a tablet and still pass out but I wake up immediately but I’m still hit the floor.
